Are you referring to the navy blue alternates we wear? I love those things and they're supposed to be our primary road jersey this year.
Sorry I didnt get back to you last night, I was watching the Heat and Panthers implode simultaneously while trying to keep and eye on the Braves. Yes, those are our new primary Road jerseys. I like em' better than our Gray ones tbh.
Lookin good today. Nice to see this kind of production without Chipper in the lineup. Also nice to see the Phillies have no problem letting their starters remain in the game to throw Batting Practice.
ooofah, tough bullpen work. Can't believe the phils came back to take the lead. They barely had to swing their bats.
It was a mixture of Moylan, Boyer and Campillo. The Bullpen is definitely this teams achilles heel, although I can't imagine Moylan will be this bad very often. I realize it's early in the season, but Campillo should only be used as a long man and I have little confidence in Boyer at all. It's still nice to take 2 of 3 from Philly, but a sweep would have been nicer.
5-1, can't complain about a start like that even though it could easily be 6-0. Soriano closed today and did a good job. I don't think he even threw a ball until the final batter.
Let's hope we can continue this nice start. The starting pitching has been great, and our average with RISP is off the charts. This team is gonna be in the mix this year for sure.
It was a great first week for the Braves. As muscle said, we should be 6-0, but over the course of the season everyone loses and wins a game or a few like that. Kind of hard to call a series in the second week of the season huge, but the Marlins come to town starting tomorrow night and we're both sitting at the top of the division at 5-1. In fact, we are the two best teams in baseball right now record wise. So, it should be a fun series. Probable pitching match-ups for the Marlins-Braves series: Tuesday 7:00 pm: RHP Volstad (FLA, 1-0, 1.80 ERA) vs. RHP Vazquez (ATL, 0-0, 4.50 ERA) Wednesday 7:00 pm: LHP Miller (FLA, 0-0, 3.86 ERA) vs. RHP Lowe (ATL, 1-0, 0.82 ERA) Thursday 12:00 pm: RHP Sanchez (FLA, 0-0, 0.0 ERA) vs. RHP Kawakami (ATL, 1-0, 4.50 ERA)
Wondering if Hanson gets the nod for Sat with Glavine shutting down early and feeling pain in rehab minor start.......one can dream its Hanson and Tommy G. rides off in to the sunset.
i'll bet if Glavine is out more than just "day to day" or goes on the DL, then it just might be Hanson time. i would prefer he get a few more starts down in the minors, but what the heck, i am ready to see this guy go against big league hitters and number 5 starters.
JoJo Reyes. Everyone wants to see Tommy Hanson, but the Braves don't want him in a situation where his starts are being skipped. It's better for him long term if he stays at Gwinnett and gets regular starts at this point. JoJo Reyes is a guy that has already shown he can dominate at the AAA level, and he's shown that he gets shelled at the ML level. I think he's an AAAA pitcher who has the stuff but lacks the command to be a legitimate major league starter. He's going to get the start, and the main reason is probably because he is left handed. Atlanta's rotation is right handed strong at this point. Now, if one of the top 4 guys gets injured at some point, then I think you will see Hanson come up.
I knew ESPN would ruin it. Number one in the rankings and promptly lose the next series. Just drop them down to the middle of the pack.
Looks like we're in serious danger of being swept by the Marlins at home. Not good considering we didn't have to face Johnson. Our Bullpen is one of the worst Ive seen in a LONG time. The really sad part is, unless Bobby and Wren want to use Hanson like the Yanks did with Joba a couple years ago we don't really have anyone in the minors to step in and help.
this has been an ugly series for Atlanta, no two ways about it. got to give the marlins and their $33 mill payroll props though. that's what a clubhouse attendant makes in the Yankees organization.
Ugh, what an ugly series. At least Francoeur has re-emerged as the clutch hitter we knew back in 2006 and 2007. He's been stellar this year in big spots, including 2 hits with RISP and 2 outs today.
It's a long season. The Marlins started this way last season too. I'm not really surprised that this happened. You would think the bullpen would be better though. This division could be wide open though. The bad news doesn't end with the bullpen. It was reported yesterday that Glavine says if he isn't feeling significantly better in two weeks he's going to seriously consider retiring. He apparently doesn't want to deal with more rehab. Just bring Hanson down as the number five starter now. It's not like he's going to be worse than this pen right now. Except for Soriano who they showed during the game has pitched five scoreless innings of relief up to this point.
And Jojo Reyes starting today. I'm not overly optimistic the losing streak will be broken. They should completely destroy this road trip and they've started out with a shutout loss.
The offense has been pathetic over the past few games. Hopefully they can break out of the funk today.
That was apparently a lot to hope for. 9-0 Pirates in the eight. This has passed disappointing and moved on to pathetic. I didn't watch the 4th through the 7th innings, but I think it's a safe assumption that Reyes gave up a healthy amount of those runs. Time to send him down for good. Glavine will announce his retirement soon, it's Tommy Hanson time. Call him up now, I guarantee he won't be worse than Reyes. And why not just let some fans take a few swings. Couldn't get much worse. I'll guarantee them I can at least produce zero RBIs in two games.
don't forget to add Chipper's yearly nagging injury to the list already. be glad you didnt see the 4th thru 7th innings. the Pirates looked like they were hitting off of a pitching machine set at 70 MPH.
Down a run in the 9th and we have runners on 2nd and 3rd with ZERO outs and we couldn't get a run in. Pathetic. We have now lost the series to the friggin' Nationals. Now we have to avoid utter embarrassment by not getting swept tomorrow night. Jurrjens vs. Lannan.
such a promising start has turned into this... i have never seen so many stupid base running errors as the braves are seemingly committing daily. what was Prado thinking? he was already on second, with two outs and the NL batting champion at the plate. why even try for third on a ball in the dirt, that didn't even get by the catcher? WTF was he thinking?
It's amazing how the Braves can look so dominant for a series, then look like they don't belong in the majors in another.
