You do this? All yourself? You give no credit to the Holy Spirit, only Holy RNI?

I'm sorry, I'm out of this one.

Pagan, Alex, Fin D, I am very sorry. I ask you to believe that not all Christians act this way or presume to be this powerful. The ones I know and work with are typically a fairly humble lot who pray they get a glimpse of God's will and would never suggest they have absolute, complete, unerring knowledge of what a text means let alone the mind of God. A week doesn't go by that I don't get a new insight into a text and find some new depth I had not thought was there before.

I operate out of what I believe after study, prayer, and much fear and trembling. That works best for me and for the lives of the saints and pillars of the Church I read about.

why didn't you highlight the part about me saying the bible talks about DEMONS BEING CASTED OUT IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

    after that statement i said:

I'VE DONE THIS AND I DO IT ON A REGULAR BASIS (MEANING I DO IT IN THE NAME OF JESUS JUST LIKE IT WAS DONE IN THE BIBLE)

If it makes you feel any better, I've said to my fiance (who is religious) that the only way I get married by a pastor is if it is you. I respect you that much.

If I may be so bold. RNI, you and I have rarely if ever spoken on this board. I consider myself a believer. I count Pastor Keith as a valuable resource here but that is neither here nor there.

There is a fine line between conviction and arrogance. The Holy Spirit moves us to speak to all and speak in His name but all in the name of LOVE.

Jesus' gospel is predicated and founded in love. If we do not speak in love then we are no better than the Pharisees in the temple who knew the law (back and front) but missed the message on how to apply it.

If that makes me misguided or simplistic in any way, then I guess the Lord will need to have a long talk with me one day.

Bro, all due respect, but you can no more "cast out demons" than I can fly on a broom, stir my coffee without using my hands, play Quidditch, or any other things you see in the movies.

No worries Ohio. We're smart enough to know the difference between the good people and the fire-breathers. :wink2:

..and so I am not accused of hijacking a thread, we are all good people. Some are just more passionate than others. :wink2:

In IMAX....in 3D. Gotta love it....and I wish I could fly on a broom. Would make my commute SO much easier!

No one will accuse you of hijacking bro....but I have to politely disagree.

Anyone who would tell me I'm burning in hell for my beliefs isn't a good person. :wink2:

I've mostly stayed away from this thread b/c there was so much I didn't agree with, but that line above is a major issue for me.

I don't go as far as to say that people who say that are bad people, but I do believe that it's bad behavior. I think the biggest culprit is the religions themselves. It's always easiest to create a following by demonizing something or someone else that creates an us against them mentality. I think that's why so many religions have chosen to interpret everything through the lens of intolerance and absolutes.

Once again, our voice of sanity here. I haven't posted because some of this has really gotten to me and it's hard not to get angry.
Pastor Keith, thank you, you speak so well and get the true meaning of Christianity across. I wish I could do the same.
Like you, I love to study and hear different views. But, I really can't stand the condemnation of others that are supposed to be believers.
I hope in my Christian walk, I never condemn or hurt others because of my personal beliefs.
Thank you again and I love you for your wisdom and care for us.

I wouldn't completely rule out the fact they may be a bad person, but more times than not they are just misguided.

The real problem is that most people want to make the words, "belief" and "fact" interchangeable.

To me its a very simple answer, to each his own.

I'm Catholic, but I don't believe everything the church does. I don't believe everything in the bible. Does that make me bad?

I'm also not going to be naive enough to say that I know therefore its the truth.

Pagan believes what he believes, more power to him, who am I to say he is wrong?

One of my closest friends is the nicest guy in the world, would give you his left arm too you if your needed it, he is an atheist. But I will tell you what, he lives a cleaner life than a lot of religious people I know, in fact I think he would be more worthy of a spot in heaven than a lot of Catholics that I know.

Its all about how you live your life in my eyes.

this is an arrogant comment. How do you know what i do or don't do? i can assure you that i am in the Deliverance ministry, it's nothing like the poltergeist movie makes it out to be, and i do cast out demons in the name of Jesus. you don't have to believe me.

if you guys knew half the stuff that jesus said you would be mad at him. Jesus spoke more about Hell than he did Heaven. That's a fact. Jesus wasn't afraid to hurt anyone's feelings, he told it like it was. you can't sugar coat the truth.

what would you guys say about someone saying this to someone?
    or how about this one?

    or how about this one?

    or this one?

Jesus wouldn't be accepted in most churches, much less the world or this forum.

If you knew half the stuff Jesus said (assuming he did exist) you'd be long dead. So please don't act like you know so much more than everyone else.

God gave us free will, why do you insist on not letting people use it?

Let people believe in what they want. Not doing this is the reason for many wars. And we know god does not want war right?

i don't go around telling people the wrongs of their life, unless they ask me. this is a thread that asked if christians could be gay and still be considered a christian. (or something to that effect, if i remember correctly).

if you're bothered by this, why participate in the thread? if someone started a thread saying "can a christian watch dolphins games every sunday and be considered a christian" i wouldn't bother to click on the thread. i know that statement is rediculous, therefore i wouldn't bother talking about it. i know that a christian can watch the dolphins and still be christian. i don't care what others think. if you think a christian can be gay, fine. Go on with your life believing that. what do you care if someone thinks otherwise?

Because you keep on insisting your way is the right way. You want to feel that way, by all means you can. But don't expect everyone to feel your way and when they don't, stop trying to shove it down their throats.

This way we can all talk in peace like the almighty and the Web master wanted us too.:wink2:

Was going to type a similar response but you did it brilliantly. I'm much int he same boat...highly spiritual, very religious, but in no way do I pretend to "know" the truth. I'm too small and pathetic to be able to see the big picture.

Threads are about debate, respect and communication. I feel this one has went far away from that. It is not who is wrong or right, but how we discuss topics in a calm, and family type manner.

There are also other verses. Take for instance this one:

    or this one
    or this one:

and finally a quote from St. Francis of Assisi:

In other words, let your walk (witness) speak much more than your words. IMO. God does not need defending in this thread. His word is there for those who want to listen. But, we love each other here and respect each others views. That is what makes this place different than any other forum. I love Pagan, Alex, Stitches, and anyone else I might not agree with. We respectfully agree to disagree. If you can not see that you need to build the body of Christ through love, than this post is mute.

    God bless you, brother. :wink2:
