Got an advanced copy of the album yesterday. IMHO, one of the best metal albums to come out in a long time. Dio is at the top of his game, and Tony Iommi never seems to run out of MONSTER riffs. You can hear the first single of the album, "Bible Black" on their myspace page: Heaven & Hell. This album rocks from start to finish. Pick this one up at as soon as you can!
Heaven and Hell (or just Black Sabbath as I like to call them) are one of the best metal lineups in history. I saw them last summer with Judas Priest and They blew Judas Priest out of the water live. Can't wait to hear this!
yup......even though he's old he can still bring it....Ozzy has his limitations at this particular point in time
im telling you put on Die young, Mob Rules, Kneon Kinghts, Falling off the edge of the world up loud and yout got yourself a party....
Couldnt get the MySpace to work. Here it is on youtube [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3clLf-L9oSo"]YouTube - Heaven & Hell - Bible Black FULL VERSION! w/ animated lyrics![/ame]
I saw him on a solo tour in 2001 at the HOB in Orlando. What a great show, his voice didn't crack or sound winded holding extended vocals on songs, it was not a sloppy performance at all. He takes very good care of his voice.
Sabbath and Ozzy will never reform. Ozzy is a ****ing joke now, and to be honest all he ever brought to the table was insanity. Geezer wrote all the Sabbath lyrics, and Iommi the music. Ozzy was nothing in the creativity department. With Dio, not only is he a FAR superior singer, his lyrics are masterful. I know some may call this blasphemy, but I've always preferred the Sabbath lineup with Ronnie.
I know what you're saying, although I first got into Sabbath from stuff I heard with Ozzy on vocals. I didn't even know who Dio was until 'Rainbow in the Dark' came out (hey I was 12) Now I have most of his stuff. But yeah, Ozzy hasn't put out a decent album in years. He's got a good ability to get a crowd going (at least 20 years ago he did), and some of his earlier stuff sounds pretty good. But I'd stick a fork in him, he's done. Dio still has the chops to do it, and do it well.
I must say I agree. Im a huge fan of Ronnie. Love that voice, and his lyrics as well. I definitely enjoyed sabbath's stuff more with Ronnie, than Ozzy.
Here's a clip called 'We Rock', with Vivian Campbell on lead guitar, before he was with Whitesnake, and Def Leppard. I can tell you that Dio sounds as good in this clip from '84 as he did when I saw him in '01, He's timeless, enjoy. Just got it and OH MY GOD. This is an awesome album so far! This will be my final push packing soundtrack for the rest of today.
Yeah, I got it off I Tunes this morning, awesome stuff, they sound great! Album of the Year so far although we all know they would never get a shot at winning it. After the first listen I really like Rock and Roll Angel.
IS it just me or does some of the songs towards the end (Not the old live ones), it sounds like Dio sounds very Bruce Dickerson like?
"Bible Black' is my favorite song on this album (so far), but I have to say, I'm really digging "Eating the Cannibals". It makes me laugh...
Who is Bruce Dickerson? J/K I know what you meant but I don't see the connection. "The Devil I Know" is a good record but not really a great one IMO. It lacks that overall attack. Dio was the better singer for Black Sabbath but not necessarily the perfect fit. Natch!
