While we are waiting to find out if Henne has it or not. Will Pat White be our guy? Does he get more reps in camp? Discuss please.
i dont buy that White is a future NFL QB, at least not a full-time one. Henne is the projected future full-time starter, and White is the hybrid QB/WR they want to use strictly for the Wildcat. Henne is going nowhere. Stay the course.
Mike Mayock(my favorite analyst/I agree with almost everything he says) loves the guy and seems to think he could start for us in the future. Could this be another story like Marino's where everyone passed on him? Who knows....
Nah, I wont say never but ...not going to happen. Unless they envision another...Ray Lucas type of deal... Hey, before anyone vomits remember that Lucas was GOOD when playing under Parcells.
I love rachel ray.. This is gonna be a two headed QB moving into the future...its gonna be freakin bad ***.
I wasn't sure if that was Rachel Ray or not. I thought it was, but man, she looks freakin' hot in that picture. She usually looks big and dumpy, but yowza... ....but this is for the Ladies Lounge. BTW, shouldn't that be called the men's lounge? I bet there is more men hangin' out there checking out the scenery.than ladies.
If he is better, he starts. Its doubtful even if he turns out to be a quality traditional QB in the short term, so odds are if that happens it will in like 2011, when Henne theoretically has had time to show his stuff.
The real question is: Is the Wildcat a real, viable offense in the NFL? If it is, Pat White is here to stay.
That is part of my original point. If Pat White can be the better everydown QB over Henne it allows us to run the Wildcat without changing personnel. It takes the so called gimmick out of the mix. It allows us to possibly run both whatever we want when we want. I really hope this is the case. Ireland has said he will be a QB. I believe it. I really see why he was drafted so high. They plan on White being our future QB.
I personally don't think this hypothetical will come to fruition. Just my opinion. Quarterbacks of that nature the runners before throwers or hybrid just don't seem to have much sustained success in the NFL. I think he could eventually be a capable qb, and a decent back up to Henne, but if i was going to make projections, my money would be on Henne eventually claiming the full time starter job. I see white being used more as a utility in various roles. our FO, coach and coordinators like to show disguises and versatility and keep d's offbalance and guessing and Pat white can be a great weapon for that. Plus he can be disguised and utilized as a qb should he prove he can play qb at the NFL level. But regardless they saw an athlete who can contribute in many ways and give them options. He'll be involved and help our team in a variety of ways, i'd be shocked if however if he outplayed Henne for the starting job in the next 2 years. I just am too sold on Henne right now as our future franchise QB.
I highly doubt that he can beat out Henne but you never know. My thoughts would be that White is not a pocket passing Qb and Henne is so Henne has two legs up before the competition even begins.
it's a no brainer: the best QB starts two things: 1) I think we will very much use Pat White & often in the WC, creating an interesting tandem @ QB 2) I think Pennington will have the year of this career in 2009 & is just now regaining his pre-injury form. 3) Beck a& Henne may get a lot of bench time in this new arrangement. all bets are off. there is a new paradigm in the making: the tandem QB's
They need all the roster spots they can get so I'm pretty sure Beck is not sticking around long in Miami.
If he proves to be the better of the two then he takes the #2 spot on the roster and is the guy to beat looking ahead to 2010 or sooner. I don't think he was drafted to be our new starter, as he doesn't have the arm that Henne does. However, he gives us many potential options that few teams have or ever have. Don't know much about him, but beyond running the WC in many more ways then we saw last year, we can cross up defenses with him under center, having them think WC but then run a more normal play, run or pass. He gives us an option to use him as the holder, thus having a fast guy who can take off and run for a first down or make a passing play for a first down. Or he has good hands so he can be our holder, thus freeing up a roster spot. (Can he long snap? LOL) Lastly he could line up as a 3rd-4th WR and we can still have the option to run a fake play or a reverse, etc....its an interesting pick up that can really put some ripples in our offense.
In my opinion its not going to happen. He's not that prototypical NFL QB. I was surprised to see us reach for him at the number 2 pick, unless we plan on using him as a WR/QB dual threat.... d-1
First! Let me say I wanted to read this thread about Pat White... While I was scrolling thru I saw the Pictures of Rachel Ray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dam is she hot! I thought she had put some pounds on but looks pretty good to me.. so um What was this thread about?????
Thats been my thinking all along. Pat White's stats along with Mike Mayberry saying this kid is the real deal does it for me. I went against him on his "Ice Man" backing and Ryan proved him right and me wrong, so what do I know?? The one way to really ensure that the WC is sustainable is by playing the same personnel and switching formations, as in with no huddle. The possibilities are endless and the defense is truly kept on its heels. Only because of the NFL mindset, my guess is, if MV had been used in this way the Falcon's would already have had a couple of SB's under their belts. If you take away the two different bodies and just focus on their College careers Pat White had more sucess than Chad Henne all the while being more accurate, too. All the talk of durability means nothing when you are talking of one person compaired to another; check Chad Henne's lost game time to Pat White's. Now can Pat White beat out Chad Henne, who knows, but we are about to find out. If I was a betting man my money goes on Pat White. Why? Because if he makes the squad and gets real game playing time while Henne sits waiting for Penny to get hurt/2010 to show up the extra year that Henne has had will mean nothing compaired to the real game time playing of Pat White. I'm telling you guys I believe Jeff when he says Pat White was picked to play QB. The guy is in the mix and all he has to do is prove himself. If he does it will all go back to "The Magic Man" Marlin Brisco. Man o man this is going to be one heck of a season!
I think Pat is going to have to show and prove. If he wants to be a QB, well he will have to beat 8+ men in the box because that is what defenses are going to throw at him. We get that he is slippery and can throw short passes accurately. But can he read a defense and consistently hurt them when they cheat up to the line and clog the lanes? If he can do all of that better than Henne, then of course he gets the start.
I've always wanted a quaterback that could bust a 40 yard run if WRs were all covered down the field.......iam licking my chops imagining where this offense is going
whoever is better should play... the more options the merrier... who ever can get us to hoist the Lombardi trophy is who i want under center...
I'll repeat what almost everyone has already said, if White is better, he will start. I think he has a real good shot at doing that too. I would be a little worried if I was Henne, because while he's on the sideline holding a clipboard Pat is going to be making plays. I also never really liked Henne in college but that's just me.
In my opinion, this is just another example of stockpiling talent at an important position. The best guy wins. I think that will be Henne, but who knows.
