in a Yoda-like raspy voice... "there... are... other... graphic.... artists...." now the trick is making it worth their while...
Penning10 spreads the ball around b/c the majority of the recievers are in his throwing range, while people like Ginn is out of his throwing range. Penning10 few turnovers are a result of him playing it safe by throwing it in his comfort zone, (which is fine with me b/c it wins games). But there's no doubt that Ginn gets the short end of the stick b/c of the way Penning10 plays.
cracked me up... it did... knowledgable you are... win we must... see what happens once I "quote" Yoda... I become him...
How many 1,000 yard seasons did those guys have? I'm not being a smartass, I really don't know (and my work blocks ESPN, so I can't check). However, the fact is, Pennington is not known for throwing the long ball. So, I think it is fair to say that Pennington, in that respect, is holding Ginn back. He, of course, is making him improve in other areas, for sure. Cam and Bess thrived simply because they were running the short, underneath routes. Put Ginn in there, and he thrives too. Put Cam or Bess on the outside, and NO ONE IN THIS FORUM is singing the praises of either of EITHER ONE OF THEM. Also, how many long balls were caught by Jets receivers that weren't short passes that the receivers broke for big gains on? Seriously, they did that all the time. Finsarelife...how do YOU know that the reason that Pennington didn't throw long is because he felt that Ginn might cause a turnover? Are you kidding me? THAT'S your reason that you think that he didn't throw long to Ginn? If you think that me saying it's Pennington's arm strength is what prevented Ginn from getting more balls thrown his way is dumb, try reading your reason once or twice.
Yes, see Teddy is just so friggin fast that by the time Pennington looks his way, all he sees is a cloud of smoke...
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [57] Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [27] + Ronnie Brown [75] Vontae Davis [18] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Sean Smith [0]- another one bites the dust Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
I don't really understand what's so funny...it's true. By the time Pennington was looking at Ginn, he was too far downfield. By the way, I'd love for one of you guys to post up the number of times that Cam/Bess/Fasano/whoever were thrown to as compared to the number of times that Ginn was thrown to. It might open your eyes a little as to why Ginn didn't go over 1,000 yards last season.
wow, you should really stop giving us ammo... I can guarantee you that the answer to that question is more than Teddy Ginn has... which is ZERO by the way, news flash...
If Penning10 doesn't make Ginn his first read and throw it to him without looking anywhere esle, Ginn gets out of Penning10's comfort zone faster than tough acting tanactin.
How is it ammo? I haven't claimed that Ginn has had any 1,000 yard seasons. However, I see Coles, and Cotchery thrown out there as being way better...what were their totals? Bess and Cam were thrown out there, and they didn't have 1,000 yard seasons. Also, find out, if you can, how many of the long balls by those guys were on routes that they caught a relatively short pass, and broke it open for a TD. Pennington was never a long ball thrower. That's just how it is. I don't understand why you guys are acting like it isn't true. It IS true. Heck, that was one of the biggest knocks on him. You act like I'm saying he's a bad QB...I'm not. You guys are saying that Ginn is a bad receiver, however, and that's just not true, and it's got no basis in reality.
EXACTLY. And Ginn CAN'T be the first look, because then Pennington would be locked onto him from the get-go. Ginn was at best, second option, usually probably third.
Here's a news flash. Ted Ginn was actually targeted a team-high 93 times in 2008, while Greg Camarillo was only targeted 83 times, and Bess 75 times. Difference is, Ginn only caught 60% of those attempts, while Cam caught 66% of those attempts, and Bess a whopping 72%. Now look, if I'm Pennington do I go to the guy that's going to drop the ball or do I throw to someone that has more sure hands?
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [57] Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [28] + Ronnie Brown [74] - Vontae Davis [18] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
lets review... for the most part, we are stating that he is NOT worthy of winning this contest... in the midst of this, some of your type have offered up reasons for his implied yet nonexistant ascension into greatness. So, lets get back to those discussions... tell me why he should win over Ronnie Brown, Jake Long, Joey Porter, Chad Pennington, Yeremiah Bell????? I support Teddy, he is a Dolphin... the one liners in the votes against Ginn are part of our plan, and that is all I shall say about them.
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [57] Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [27] - Worse at his position than Ronnie Brown is at his position Ronnie Brown [75] + Better at his position than Ted Ginn is at his position Vontae Davis [18] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
6, tied for 10th in the NFL. But that's 6.67% of his targets, higher than the league average, especially for a #1. Take a guy like TO - long known for his drops. He only averaged 7.19% when compared to his targets. And it doesn't count the number of times that Ted ran out of bound short of the sticks.
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [56] -------- Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [28] ++++++ Ronnie Brown [75] Vontae Davis [18] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
wow horrible logic... sorry dude but this post proves nothing... who has a higher catch % a guy who makes his living from 5-10 yards from the line of scrimmage or someone who makes his living down the field?
Players with more drops that Ted Ginn in 2008: Braylon Edwards Dwayne Bowe Brandon Marshall Terrell Owens Calvin Johnson Roddy White Laveranues Coles Marques Colston Greg Jennings Marcedes Lewis Marshawn Lynch Santana Moss Muhsin Muhammad Bernard Berrian Dallas Clark Rashied Davis Anthony Gonzalez Hines Ward
wrong, ted is tied for 19th in drops, not 10th. Stop posting lies. 6 drops, thats one every 3 games. Calm down. Stop trying to twist numbers to make it look like he cant catch.
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [56] Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [29] +++++++ Ronnie Brown [75] Vontae Davis [17] ------ Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [57] + Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [28] - Ronnie Brown [75] Vontae Davis [17] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
Wait, I thought Pennington couldn't get the ball to Ginn before this so called range because Ginn was too fast... Speedy Ginnzales... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t43_ilAdwC8"]YouTube - Speedy Gonzales Clip[/ame]
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [57] Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [29] + Why? because he has shown vast improvement on the field and he forces defenses to adjust every time he is on the field. For a guy most people say can never be a #1, he sure draws coverage like he is. Ronnie Brown [74]- I love ronnie but he is an underachiever. If not for the WC he wouldn't be getting so much love. Vontae Davis [17] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
VO, Paul, and Dupree. You guys must be really bitter about Ginn winning survivor 08. Now you resort to negging him every single time, and making up weak propaganda and thanking each other for your lies. I've never seen a fanbase that hated their #1 WR as much as you all hate Ted Ginn.
Chad Henne [18] Chad Pennington [57] Davone Bess [16] Ted Ginn [28] - frail... Ronnie Brown [75] + beastly... Vontae Davis [17] Will Allen [11] Gibril Wilson [9] Ricky Williams [13] Lousaka Polite [7] Yeremiah Bell [16] Patrick Cobbs [8] Channing Crowder [4] Joey Porter [22] Justin Smiley [6] Kendall Langford [11] Vernon Carey [13] Jake Long [52] Anthony Fasano [10] Greg Camarillo [8] Jason Ferguson [8] Phillip Merling [11] Matt Roth [12] Tony Sparano [13]
i've seen a couple of plays where Ginn had to jump as high as possible and tipped the ball b/c Penning10 threw it too high. 6 drops isn't bad at all. if you subtract the plays i'm thinking about (where it was Penning10's fault) that number should dropt to 3 or 4.
