This game needs it's own thread. I want it. I WANT IT NOW. Developer walkthrough - http://xbox360.qj.net/E3-2009-Lewis-Hamilton-s-simulator-aided-Forza-MotorSport-3/pg/49/aid/131901 Crazy that they used a commercial grade simulator for tips on realism. Also, I'm not so sure I like the rewind thing.
yeah except there doesnt seem to be a limit to it. And it kind of defeats the purpose of a racer imo. If you do a perfect race and choke on the last lap, it sucks... yes. But it's a part of racing. If you can rewind when you screw up, where's the challenge. Anyone will be able to finish it.
The way the Forza developer explained it in the video, he says: "There's no limit or penalty for using it. We want people to keep playing and having fun"
I can't see how the physics could get much better than Forza 2. Only thing needed is incar view really.
I know, I'll be getting both. I have a bunch of racers on PS3 I still need to play. I've not even used my FF wheel and playseat much.
Well I was counting Forza 2 as the big sim part, but I guess the commercial grade one would supersede that.
http://www.vg247.com/2009/06/04/forza-motorsport-3-will-span-two-discs/ I never played Forza 1 or 2, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Thing is, I don't know **** about cars and would probably be lost with this game (and GT5, but they have the nascar license and that interests me). Is it fully enjoyable for someone like me?
Forza is much better at bringing in non-race fans to the genre than GT is. GT throws you right into some relatively difficult licensing processes. They are meant to help you learn but for an absolute newb, i can see it throwing someone off. I dunno if Prologue did this or if 5 will... Forza makes a point (beyond the new rewind crap) to easily put people into racing. They startes the whole racing line thing that turns green to gas and red to brake. It's VERY helpful to learn racing as well as learn the track.
Yup, anybody can play the game. You can get Forza 2 for probably $12 or so used at gamestop if you have a 360... Forza 1 less for XBOX.
Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean 4, Blue Dragon - All on multiple discs... Neither bothered me one bit. Just me. I'm sure there's some people out there that changing a disc really annoyed them. As for the way the Forza team is doing it, it sounds like one disc is the game and the other is content. I assume there'll be an install of some sort to avoid constant swaps or something. This still sucks because I'm still rocking my original 20GB drive.
My problem with Forza 2, was the over abundance of car specific races, especially as you got higher up. What's the point of tuning the car if you can't race it anywhere in the game but like one race or online? That's one thing I loved about GT, you could literally spend the time building and tuning your car and race it many different races. It gave it an RPG feel.
That aspect of the game made it a love/hate thing for me. While I kinda wanted a GT-esque one car show, I appreciated it later that it forced me to come out of my comfort zone. I would have driven that Audi S4 for ever and never discovered the M3 if I hadn't been forced to use a BMW I feel yah though
I was sooooooo excited when I finally got the Porsche I had been wanting. Sold some cars got it tuned tight, then boom, there was like one effing race I could use it in. (even at that, I think I had to untune it) I never played the game again.
the rewind thing doesn't really bother me. I'm sure there will be a situation like you guys mentioned of cheesing it on the last corner or something and I don't have the 15 - 20 minutes to go back and do the race again. There were always a few corners and tracks that I could just never get down, and since I always lost it made it a beating to go back and practice since driving the car around an empty track sucks.
Can't do 15-20 mins again? Try redoing those 24 Hour Le-Mans races in the GT series over again. God that was a killer.
But the thing is... That's racing. That's part of the sport. You don't win races by doing 3 good laps and spinning out on the final turn because you wanted to break a record. You win races by hitting your lines and doing what you're supposed to. If you choke out the last lap, it does suck, but the next run through that track, you'll be that much better.
yeah, it is racing. But nearly every other game made has a safety valve, like saves, so you don't get screwed. How many times do people save before a boss battle? No one wants to go play the whole level again, that's what made those old Nintendo games so hard, the punishment for losing meant starting over. I see this as something that is a safety feature for when you 'f' up too bad. And like anything, no one is forcing you to use it. If you don't like it don't use it... But I do agree with you on the next run being better, and I see myself using this more at the beginning of races than at the end since I would usually crash out trying to pass everyone haha
Awesome pics in this new piece Kotaku put together. http://kotaku.com/5284706/forza-3-car-porn-in-motion
They just announced that they've got Bugatti in their stable now! http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/forza-3-welcomes-1000-horsepower-bugatti-veyron-supercar/
