    For what its worth,
I have found out the hard way that i-tunes is NOT compatible with XP-64 bit OS, unless you want to mess with the registry and codecs that is

Easiest way to do it is by pass Itunes all together. Plug in your ipod but dont and go to your devices on your computer. Open up your ipod and find the music that way and simply drag them onto your computer.

Just uninstall the Idump trial version and then reinstall the newest one on their site. You have to do that every so often, but it works.

I don't think that works unless you hack it, correct?

    Correct.

Because your music's source is from the iPod... so if you unplug the iPod... they're gone.

I haven't looked into hacking mine, always concerned that it will crash or freeze up.

I don't think enabling hidden folders and files is really much of a hack though.

    lol...shhh....

Yeh I dont do hacks and stuff. I'm pretty sure thats how I did it. But I think you still have to find a program on your computer to convert them.

If they're saved as mp3's on the iPod already, probably not. But if they're copy-protected AAC files, then maybe. But then again, you need iTunes anyways and accounts are transferable.
