So......I haven't been out with anyone since I broke up with my gf 8 months ago. Not that I'm too burned...it's that I'm trying to be really mobile so i can up and move for a job given the opportunity. Being faced with the very real possibility of living here throughout this year I decided to keep my options open and get out there.....

I've been frequenting this coffee shop for awhile where there's this really cute waitress. Great looking, great attitude, and sharp. I thought there was a good chance that she had a boyfriend but wasn't sure.....after weighing my options I decided not to take the plunge......figuring it was a self destructive move. If I asked her out one of 2 things could happen...

    1. She says yes and the dynamic changes. I really like my coffee shop and don't want it to get "weird"

    2. she says no and the dynamic changes. Same as above....

So a few weeks went by and allw as well..then a day came....I was in a pretty good mood...So I dropped the "Would you like to have dinner?" line......she smiled and turned beet red..."Actually..I have a boyfriend...but if I didn't I'd be interested in going to dinner" she said.....fair enough. We left it at that with an "It's all good" and went on doing our thing. Fair enough right? I'm cool with that, no biggie. Not the first time I've been turned down..won't be the last.

About an hour later an old acquaintance of mine and his buddy walk into the shop. I finish my tea and on the way out I pop over to their table and say hey....he was shocked to see me and we got to talking....they invited me to sit down (which I did) and we visited or the next two hours or so (she was their waitress too).

We had such a good time that we decided to do it in the near future....leaving it up to meeting in the coffee shop. Well..I'm super bored and was happy for the company so the next morning I logged onto facebook and looked up my buddy (he's been on my friends list for years). I was typing a thank you when i saw a post.....i looked at it and it appeared to be the name of the guy he was with.....I wanted to be sure (don't want to botch his name as I'd already forgot it) so I clicked on it and his profile popped up...sure enough it was him....and her.

Of ALL the people in the world I ended up sitting there talking to her bf for a few hours (while she was their waitress).......I shoot for dinner and end up having tea with the girls BF...FML

Anyway...now my coffeeshop is broke. I have no idea how to make the situation unawkward at this point...so I need to find a new place to chill. Next time I make a decision I'll stick to it :pity:

This trumps everything in the FML thread. That's screwed up man. That's bad luck. I guess like you said you should have stuck to your decision and (like they say) sticking to your gut is the best option).

As far as the new coffee shop is concerned you are on twitter right? Do a search for (my town, coffeshops) and you may get some info there.

I can't decide which I think this post is more geared towards.. the new coffee shop or the woman.. or you regretting not listening to your gut.

    Either way it sucks :(

Then you would always wonder "what if". It's good that you asked her and she gave a good response. She could had said some things that would have really made you upset.

Lol, nah dude wouldn't get upset. It's all good, if someone responds to a polite pickup with a jerk comment they're not worth it anyway.

I must have wrote this darker than I intended.... I thought it was a funny as hell light story. No worries here guys, I just thought it was hilariously ironic. perhaps I misjudged :)

This isn't really that bad, bro.

If anything, it should be fun to keep going there and watch her fumble orders and drop cups while you're there...until she dumps the other guy and takes you up on that offer.

Honestly, I dont think it should be all that big a deal. Just play it off as "Im happy your with a good guy like my friend" and leave it at that. No reason it should turn super weird.

There's a Starbucks everywhere. If I want to avoid someone at one shop, I walk across the street or right next door...
