I've been reading some posts and articles about the Dolphin's receiver position. There seems to be a LOT of competition at that spot, which is great.

My question to you guys, is which receivers do you think make the final 53 man roster this season, and for what reason?

I think Ginn, Camarillo, and Bess make it as starters. Turner might become a starter later in the season, but I think he makes it as a special teams/red zone type option early on. Hartline and London will also be mainly contributing to special teams, although I think Hartline might see the field on offense later on in the season. As far as wild cards, I think either Marion or Armstrong?

I don't know, its so hard to tell, there is so much competition at that spot.

(both Camarillo & Marion are recovering from injury)
depending on health, training camp & pre-season

There is so much solid competition it is way too early to predict much. We really won't be able to say much until we see these guys in pads and preseason game conditions.

I thought your lineup was pretty much spot on based on what we've seen so far. Armstrong is getting some rave reviews to date, I could see him coming off the practice squad this season.

Early on it looks like Ginn, Bess, Cam, Turner and Hartline with London and Armstrong battling for #6. I think the first 4 are locks and Hartline is very probable. The London/Armstrong decision will be based largely on STs contributions.

So far I think it will be Ginn, Bess, Camarillo, Turner, Hartline, and Armstrong. Of course that could change when the pads comes on in a real game. Man I can't wait to see a real game with these guys. We could be very dangerous this season.

Agreed on Ginn, Bess, Turner, Hartline (if he can perform on STs -- otherwise PS), and Armstrong (with his strong reviews -- but we'll know for sure when the pads come on).

I see Cam (maybe the odd man out - traded, not cut, unless he hasn't recovered from injury) and London (going directly against Turner) fighting for a spot .... with Marion going to the PS (unless he can become the PR/KR) ... Williams probably gets cut.

I don't know about you guys, but the only thing that worries me is another AFC East team picking up a player we let go, and him becoming a great player for them.

    watch Brennan Marion
hope his knee is mended enough to allow him to compete
this guy came in under the radar
(4.49) speed. good yards after the catch
(moves extremely well in the open field)
is a play-maker with big play potential
like to be able to see him @ his best
the running stable is very competitive
could be our diamond in the rough this year

Wouldn't he be considered more of a tight end/H-back right now?

camarillo, ginn, bess, turner, hartline and armstrong i think make it especially if armstrong can show something on special teams. London was to absent in mini camp. Lets see what he does in training camp but right now he is on the bubble to me.

He's only been practicing with the TEs. If he makes it will be at TE not WR. And he has a decent shot there. Fasano is a lock, but Martin is injured and neither Haynos or Nalbone have been impressive thus far. I expect they will keep three.

I would go with GinnJr, Camarillo, Bess, Turner and Hartline. Hartline as the flyer on punt coverage and this is assuming he shows the coaching staff something in preseason on ST.
I think we add a receiver through FA during the preseason.

I don't think Armstrong will make it over London... Wasn't Armstrong the same guy that looked great without pads last year only to disappear with pads going on?

Pretty crazy how we were all excited to sign London last year, only to predict he will not make the cut with us this year. Shows how this FO brought in alot of good wide receivers this year.

So far all the rave reviews are about Ginn, Camarillo, Bess and Turner. Hartline got some lesser praise. Omar Kelly said great things about Armstrong and says London looks to be in freefall.

I say Ginn, Camarillo and Bess are locks. Turner if he can keep it up will have a place on the roster. Hartline might go PS this year. Armstrong sticks around somehow and London is a goner.

Any thoughts about who might be stashed away on the taxi squad out of the young guys?
Sure is a good sign for the Dolphins, having so many promising players.

Brennan looks like a likely PS candidate unless he ends up on the injured list.

I agree, Brennan is the 'young guy with potential' that will head to the PS

To me, Ginn, Camarillo and Bess are locks. Turner is just below a lock and a few good plays in TC and Preseason will put him into lock status. I really think Hartline will make the team but if he does not show it in TC and Preseason there are too many guys behind him to take his spot. As for what i believe will be the 6th and final spot, i think London has the lead right now but Armstrong is not far behind and Marion could make a great push.

Overall i think the last two spots are still up for grabs for the most part between 4 guys. At least one of the losing two should be put on the PS. Too much talent there to let both go. I really love the depth of our WR corps. The thing is that there is no "stud" of the bunch....yet.

Greg Cammirillo epitomizes everything this regime stands for, he aint goin nowhere..i dont care if one of his legs is hanging off, we will go to the grave with that contract. He is our symbol of dedication, perseverance, heart, toughness, work ethic and skill.

I think Bess is a better reciever then Camarillo but Devone should def be our slot reciever. He would be a perfect fit there

    new york ciity
starters: Ted Ginn, Pat Turner, Greg Camarillo
    backups: Devonne Bess, Anthony Armstrong
if we go 6th receiver: Brian Hartline

  25. No that was Bess, Armstrong dropped every ball thrown his way last year. The game was just too fast for him last year and he was thinking rather than being able to just play. Armstrong has nearly Ginn speed and better quickness. He also has shown great hands this year. The issue will be if he is able to get off the LOS once the pads come on.

Keep this in mind however, there have been a couple of articles written about how QBs are starting to look for him in practice because of how often he is getting open. This is the type of thing that tends to carry over into camp. If he is getting off the LOS once the pads come on I say he will take London's roster spot.

Ginn is a speed guy, Bess a quick slot guy with below average speed, Cam is the possesion guy, London was brought in to be the possesion/redzone guy that Wilford was supposed to be. Neither Wilford nor London proved to be that guy, so in comes Turner and Hartline. Turner is the redzone guy and Hartline is a carbon copy of Cam but with great special teams ability.

So the way I see it is this. Ginn a lock, most likely number one WR. Bess is a lock to be starting slot WR. Cam, if healthy lock, and will probably play #2 until Turner gets up to speed. Turner, the only redzone threat, and high draft pick so that makes him a lock, and could start day one if Cam is not ready and could start midseason even if Cam is healthy. So that gives us 4 WRs that will almost definitely make the team. So there are really only 2 spots open (if we keep 6 which I think we will) and really only 3 WRs that have a realistic chance to make it. Williams probably won't make it til training camp, Brennon will be on the practice squad. So it will come down to London, Hartline and Armstrong. The way I see it is Hartline won't make it through waivers so we are probably gonna have to keep him, and how he does on special teams will decide if he is a part of the 45 that dress every Sunday. It will also decide if London makes the team. If Hartline is good enough to take London's spot on special teams then London suddenly has little value to the team. Turner doesn't have to do much to be a better redzone threat and if Hartline can take his place on teams then it opens the door for Armstrong.

You have to see it the way the front office does. Lets play the "what if" game. If Cam can't come back to form then what do we have? Hartline. If Bess gets hurt who is the 2nd best slot?? Cam, and then move Turner to Cam's place. But what if Ginn gets hurt?? How do we stretch the field?? Not with London, Armstrong would be the best fit. Armstrong could also play the slot and returner. So if Armstrong can continue to do what he has done once the pads come on then I think he has a great chance to make the team.....especially if Hartline shines on special teams.

My 6, Ginn, Cam, Bess, Turner, Hartline, Armstrong. London will be the odd man out. Just my gut, but questions like these is what will have us all glued to these sites trying to get info once the training camp starts. WOW I love this game.

  26. I don't think you can take a chance of losing Hartline by putting him on the practice squad. He has too much value as a special teamer. We used a 4th rd pick on him, we can't just give him away. If we cut ties with London I think he takes his place on teams and makes the 45 player roster, if not he still makes the 53.

You might be right there. If Hartline is a solid special teamer it makes it easier to cut ties with London then. Regardless I think we are going to have a great receiving corps this year. This time last year Pennington wasn't even with the team yet. Now they've had all this time to build chemistry. Imagine how much better they will be!
