They agreed to meet at 145 pounds, and Pacquiao will get more than 50 percent of the money.

This is a massive fight. And the winner (hell, either one) should get Mayweather.

And classic ****. They scheduled it the same night as UFC 105, which incidentally will be on tape delay as it will take place in Manchester, England.

mayweather is fighting pacman about the fight, because pacman wants 50% of the fight profit if they meet.I think mayweather wants to give him 20%.....

    Hilarious.

Manny can draw on his own.

Mayweather needs Pacquiao. Not the other way around.

naw mayweather marquez is going to draw alot of money and not because of marquez..... If mayweather beats marquez his value will only go up. They both are big draws. Its just mayweather trying to get as much as possible as well as pacman. This fight may never happen which would be a shame. Although mayweather marquez should be a classic.

Those are the ramblings of an egomaniac. 50/50 greedy. Hilarious.

Again, Manny Pacquiao doesn't need him.

At least they've never ducked a fight.

They are certainly both big draws. But Manny is bigger.

Pacquiao is the biggest star in the sport right now. Mayweather, though great, has never been the biggest draw. Arturo Gatti was responsible for the draw in their fight. Floyd took like 30-70 against De La Hoya (Oscar got more than double). And that was two fights ago.

Marquez is not a 'big' name, although he is a great fighter. But that fight won't draw as big as Cotto-Pacquiao IMO.

How can you duck someone if you've already fought them twice (and won). Naturally Marquez thinks he won -- that argument can certainly be made -- and he wants him again. But it's not like they were both just sitting there at 130-135 twiddling their thumbs. Manny moved up nearly a year ago to take mega fights.

What excuse does Mayweather have for not fighting Mosley, Margarito or Cotto? He's opted for retirement, a smaller Hatton and an even smaller Marquez.

Not trying to sell Marquez short. But all three of those guys have been out there for awhile. Floyd's Hall of Famer, but he's left plenty of top competition on the table. Manny fights everyone. And it's silly to think, in the grand scheme of things, that Manny will have fought Cotto before Floyd.

one win and another controversial win where you knocked the guy down once and your own people said he came back and won it? I think you can duck that so to speak. And I wouldn't blame him for doing so. Pacman should fight marquez again IMO.
mayweather was opting for retirement for awhile from my recollection. Not really excusing it but you know I don't think he pulled a lennox lewis. And seriously margarito? Mr plaster? Margarito is a good boxer, but how good is up in the air for me now........

I agree on Margarito. I don't think he reaches the upper echelon without Big E's steel chair in his gloves. Certainly doesn't beat Cotto. That obscene power was the great equalizer.

My point was about before he got exposed. He was there and he called Floyd out, which apparently is the prerequisite to get a fight with him. Floyd turned down a career-high purse to fight him.

I'd like to see Pacquiao-Marquez again. I hope it happens. But to 'duck' a guy, I think you gotta take more winnable fights. Cotto ain't exactly a more winnable fight. Would he still be ducking Marquez if he was fighting Mayweather? ;)

I think Manny's people know the third Marquez fight will always be there.

I didn't learn until this morning that Cotto now trains for fights here in Tampa (last two). Right up the street. And that his last public workout was yesterday! Dammit, I had the time to go!!

Oh well, hopefully he'll be training for another big fight next time.

    2 weeks to Pacquiao-Cotto.

    Are you being serious?

When has Manny Pacquiao EVER been in a boring fight? Hell, Cotto either for that matter? These are two ACTION fighters. This will be an absolute war.

I can't fathom anyone making that comment about this fight. Forgive me if you were being sarcastic. ;)

Rooting for Manny, but I think Cotto takes it.

All things being equal, he's the bigger man here. Not height really, just body overall.

no. you were quite astute in your initial response. I just think boxing has become unwatchable. the sports soured for me about 8 years ago, and im very cynical and angry towards it. and the little guys floppin mits, pointing eachother for 36 minutes doesn't do anything for me.
its like the NBA for me but worse, because severe greed and corruption is what ended this once great sport.

i think pacman will take it. he's too damn good defensively, but if he takes to many of those power shots from cotto, he's done. keep in mind though manny is very underrated power wise.

Boxing has absolutely gone downhill. I look forward to MMA more nowdays.

But as mentioned, these are two powerful, athletic action fighters that come forward. Both at or near the top of the pound-for-pound list. They're always exciting. You get your money's worth when they fight.

Manny has big power. But does he truly have '147' power? He beat up Oscar badly, but does he have the power to really hurt the top guys in that division? That's what I want to see with my own eyes.

Cotto does get hit. And Manny is really quick and accurate. But Cotto quick himself and is a tough guy, and just wears people down to a pulp.

    Can't wait for this fight.

    heres the undercard:

    1. Julio César Chavez, Jr. vs Troy Rowland in a ten-round middleweight bout
    2. Yuri Foreman vs Daniel Santos where the latter will defend his WBA super welterweight title for the first time
    3. Alfonso Gomez vs Jesus Soto-Karass for a 10-round welterweight bout

you get at least one belt defense.
and I count one up and comer off the top of my head.

He does. He got hit a bunch against Mosley as well. Eventually it'll catch up to him if he doesn't become better on defense.

To his credit though, the first six or so rounds he was outstanding in that fight. I believe that Margarito had loaded gloves in that fight too.

As such, this fight will answer a lot of questions that have resulted from that fight i.e. was Cotto 'exposed' (for lack of a better word) or largely cheated?
