I am not predicting the acquisition of Micheal Vick , however, it should be considered a possibility:

1)won't be surprised to see Parcells pick up Vick
he can clean him up, show case him & realize a sizable return on his investment.
could turn out to be a team fit, even in the talented QB stable we sport. let them compete
would certainly be an excellent investment for future draft picks or free agency
don't see where you could go wrong

    2)criminal? dog,Kock,bull fight,Santaria,Voodun? some people would disagree
    you eat meat?
got to butcher a pig before you can eat it.
lot of point of view laced w/ hypocrisy here

3)everybody deserves a second chance & most of us get more than one in life. Vick is not a rapist, murderer or pedophile. He didn't swindle billions of dollars from the American people. get a perspective on what is at hand. the man has paid his debt, now let him put his life back together & if Miami can benefit in his remaking, so be it.

4)I would welcome Vick in Miami & l like dogs. (probably more than I like most people I meet)
do not view the Jason Taylor clip as anti-anybody, just in favor of a kinder, more gentler world. (thank you Padre31)
but I bet he still has meat every night on the dinner table, just like most of us. ever been to a slaughter house?
and what do dogs eat? got to feed your dog too!

Vick could be a good thing for the Franchise.

ireland has already said we're not interested.

with that said it's not beyond the scope of this FO to throw a smokescreen.

but i highly doubt that it is one.

I like how people still think Vick is a good QB

There is a huge difference between killing a pig for sustenence(and yes I am aware of the animal abuses that go on in slaughter houses but that would be taking this post more off-topic) and shooting, hanging, drowning and electrocuting a dog that is already battered from losing a fight. Its torture for the fun of it and thats what makes Vick a piece of ****.

1 - No offense to you, but It's a bull**** comparison between dog fighting and eating a steak and I will argue that point. Eating a steak is not an illegal act.

2 - He's a mediocre QB. Athletic yes, good QB far from it.

3 - The media attention he would bring would not be positive and he would create undue scrutiny on the team as a whole. It would be a traveling circus.

4 - Just because there are worse people than him does not lessen what he did.

5 - We have Pat White. End of story.

I think if they can get him at a good price they will take him,Thats a no brainer what he would do to our wildcat...

I also heard he would have to play for the minumun wage around 645,000 if i remember correct on a old article,Someone correct me if im wrong...

No need for a glorified Rb who can't pass or stay in the pocket or stay healthy. I don't mind that he is reinstated, but I don't want him near Miami.

Who is younger, has a similar skill set and doesn't have an assload of baggage following him wherever he goes.

maybe we'll be able to run to the opening of training camp with this one:yes:
nothing like a little controversy to spice up the doldrums:up:
    however
you just never know what that Bill Parcells has up his sleeve:no:& that has nothing to do with what Ireland says to the contrary

my honest thought was you pick a guy like this up for a song & a dance, then cash in on a trade or player we really need next season
probably not going to happen, but it could. think about it: Vick for Boldin or whatever
    just a random thought:taz:

HES NOT AN NFL QUATERBACK anymore.. I mean I just heard he averaged a sack ever 10 passes and 1 fumble given away each game the last year he played. Hes not accurate, he only lives off his running and hes two years older now, plus there is the whole DOlphins trying to attract crowds, and were not talking about having PETA outside each game now are we?

To much baggage for little skills.

Ok besides all the hypotheticals about sociological effect that Vick would bring and the dreams of granduer in a perfect world, we need to think about this whole vick to miami (or any team for that matter) subjectively. There is a big list of business items that would need to take place first. Pat Kirwin mentioned it on Sirius NFL radio today so i'll relay what i can remember, it was a great piece by him on what will be happening behind the scenes regarding the possibility of a team bringing Vick back. Apply to your own teams situation to realistically get an idea if he would be comming to them and it makes lots of sense. Props to Kirwin, it's the best info i've heard regarding where vick may end up so far. So i paraphrase...

    1. First, a team's coach, gm and owner would all have to be willing to explore the idea. If one of these people aren't on board. Dead deal.
    2. Second, you would need to get your scouts / player personnel to review as much tape as possible from his 06/07 seasons to see what he was like when he was last in the league. Is that something you want on your team? His numbers and more important wins with the falcons just before getting caught weren't that good.
    3. Third, talk to a local beat writer. Find out what your fan base thinks of the idea, is it going to be somewhat well recieved? Not well recieved at all. Find out what you can. It could be worse than the general feeling out there, remember he's comming to your market, where a lot of your money comes in from.
    4. Next, call his agent for a workout. And offer the most intense workout you can throw at him. See what his fatigue factor is like. Is he in the same shape as he'll need to be. Can he still make all the throws when he's tired. If he doesn't want to workout. Dead deal. if his shape is bad when he's fatigued, dead deal.
    5. If the workout goes well. offer him a low contract with a second year option for the club. If he's not intersted in that. Dead deal.
    6. If he accepts that, the workout goes well then you sit down with him and figure out his sociological level. Yes he has dungy's vote of confidence and goodell's. But how committed is he to your local community. Will he be willing to work with youth, animal agencies in your community. Is he committed to being a positve role model not just in the public eye but actually willing to devote a lot of his own time to your local area's interests that could benefit the local people in your city. If not, dead deal.
    7. Is he willing to accept whatever role you give to him and be a team player. No? Dead Deal. If he is, then the club knows financially they get him cheap this year with the idea they can have him cheap next year. One year won't prove he's still on the right track but for taking the financial and pr risk, they need to know they can have control over him next year too. He doesn't like that, dead deal.

After all that due diligence that would need to be done, the number of teams that are going to be that committed for what may be marginal increase in production (he wasn't that good in ATL right before the charges) and the fact he's two years removed from football and older and the pr circus that will no doubt insue, will seriously limit the number of teams intersted in Vick. THat's not to say all teams won't be, just don't expect at 10 team bidding war is all. Some team will inevitably grab him and go through most if not all the above steps, but their situation will make it worthwhile for a variety of different reasons. THe time, money and energy for the steps above will be worth the potential upswing to them at the qb position.

Now, since this thread was directed at him being good for the phins, and considered a "possibility" with a list of really doesn't matter points, do you think BP/Ireland/Sparano and Ross are intersted in all of that? All of what would need to actually happen in order for Vick to come to Miami? For a older QB who may or may not be and upgrade to any position on your team and might mean no additional wins? For a depth player position that they don't need depth at? On the eve of Training camp no less?

My answer would be no, hypothetical this and that, dreams of grandeur about what vick was like very rarely in 5 years as the falcons qb and all this about right or wrong or wrong by how much, none of that matters to get him onto a team and then think of what really needs to happen for this to even have a remote chance of happening?

Vick ain't comming to miami. It would have to be extreme circumstance with injuries, and a real desperate need for our FO and coaches to even consider going through the steps listed above. He'll be going to a team that needs a qb, or even just a decent backup and is willing to do something to get a buzz going. Thats not the miami franchise people. 3 years ago maybe, not now.

  20. Colorado Dolfan

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

Aside from everything that TAC just posted, does anyone really see us going into the season with four QBs on roster?

If not, who do you dump?

Pennington? Consummate game-manager, the guy that doesn't make mistakes... Exactly the opposite of Vick in my mind...

Henne? The guy that's been grooming behind Pennington and will continue to do so this year... Just dump him and hope White pans out?

White? The guy with the same basic skill set as Vick, albeit with, arguably, a stronger arm? Younger than Vick and in better football shape at this time.

Seriously... Does anyone seriously think we should dump one of these guys and hope that Vick is still the same electric athlete he once was? I use the term athlete because he sure as hell wasn't a great QB.

    Just my opinion.

pfft parcells isn't going to hang Ireland out to dry.. there is no reason whatsoever for any subterfuge. There's nobody to trick or any reason for the infamous smokescreen fantasy either. As much as you want it to happen, it won't.

it's not just the dogfighting(which is illegal and inhumane to boot) but the other countless stuff that people wash under the table. tax evasion, the fact that the fbi was not there for the dogfights(they just happened to come across that too). i know alot of nfl players do drugs but when the fbi raids your house it's not cause you bought a bag from your brother. also theres the numerous other times he has been in trouble with the law before this..the potbottle at the airport and so on.

on the whole "we eat meat too" thing. well when you sit down to eat your cow steak is it all shredded up with teethmarks and pieces of cow hide sticking off of it or does it look atleast humainly killed and properly prepared? or would you eat a dog that you just got done watching get shredded apart and inhumanily tortured if the dog lost but still lived? i like meat but i don't want to watch it get beatn to a blood pulp before i eat it.

Have to agree. Really whats in it for the Dolphins? Mike Vick has never been a good QB, IMHO, and we have, at the very least, one who is head and shoulders above what Vick could ever hope to have become. If I'm this FO I wouldn't spend 30 seconds wasting my time thinking about Mike Vick for my team. People here have, in the past, bemoned a QB's age alone as reason enough to not have him on board and Vicki will be 30 before he'll even have a chance to play. Face it time has passed him by, he blew it, sorry but no cigar!!:wink2::up:

    How so? Vick isn't a QB, he's a RB masquerading as a QB. :wink2:

Vick provides this team with nothing, we already overdrafted a player to fill this particular position on the team, we don't need another specialty player. Not to mention the fact that Ross is trying to improve the team's image in South Florida, bringing in a dog killer would be extremely counterproductive.

Nothing good can come of the Dolphins signing Vick. That would be a media NIGHTMARE the instant it gets announced. Can you imagine what it would be like at games with him on our team, especially at home? Protests, people returning their tickets, etc. It just has disaster written all over it.

I've been a fan over 35 years and it would challenge my loyality to the team as long as he is a member of it. I really don't want to be put in that spot because I really have no clue what I would do. It's not a chance that I want to take.
