I wasnt a fan of him as a back at all. I got drilled on the other site for saying his style of running would never allow him to be a great back in the NFL. Not to say he cant do other things, but some were expecting 2,000 yard rushing seasons.

Wonder how long it takes until we see a similar article posted about Darren McFadden?

Seriously, neither of these guys can run between the tackles without getting dinged up and many said that coming out, including myself. Now the Raiders are playing McFadden in the slot.

gezz i guess i was the only lame that thought Reggie would be great huh? when people dont live up to the hype, everyone always seemed to know it ahead of time..(not saying yall didnt think that)..

Reggie is a good player, hes not a good back as of now, but a good PLAYER. but his style is like putting a bigger WR at RB, it just doesnt translate to the NFL. i didnt see that coming, probably should have....but we'll see what happens this year.

I thought McFadden would have a much better chance to translate his game to the pros....but maybe not.

Not shocking seems he can only make it being a Punt Returner seeing how he can out run most of the Punting unit lol.

You mean dead legs? Nah man, you and I both know everyone could see that guy was a powerhouse. I mean, 4-5 guys would have to stop him on the field.

Here's a guy for you this year. Beanie Wells. I've never seen a man so big, get taken down by as many ankle tackles. He doesn't run over defenders as much as he bounces off of contact, and he does not have the best lateral agility. He could be a nice fit in a zone blocking scheme that would work to his skill set, but Arizona doesn't have the push inside to fit his style well IMO. We'll see if I get roasted or not after this year.

I felt that McFadden was too small in the lower body. I thought that the Razorbacks offensive line created pretty good holes for him to run through and be so dynamic. I think he's good in the open field but I didn't think he would cut it as a full time, in between the tackles runner and I still don't. I can remember sitting here and talking about it when he came out. I had Jonathan Stewart and Felix Jones ahead of McFadden and I remember azfinfanmang saying the same thing or similar to it.

Agreed. The AZ offensive line doesn't create enough holes, we saw that throughout last year and we even saw that in the Super Bowl, where Edgerrin James was fighting for yardage by himself. I actually watched the Super Bowl again the other day on NFLN and I recall many plays where Edgerrin would get contact right when he gets to the LOS. I realize its the Steelers but even times when the Steelers went to a two man front, the Cardinals couldn't find any running room up the gut. I was on another board the other day and said that it wouldn't surprise me if Beanie Wells career went similar to Ronnie Brown's. Nagging injuries, not putting up great numbers, and lack of a capable and consistent offensive line.

Hits like that have certainly made him a much more timid runner in the NFL than he was in the pros, that's for sure. He's also struggled to get to the corner, something he had no problem with in college.

Maybe this is the year he gets over the hump ... but to me it just seems like he's overthunk his career the last few years, from the way he runs to the decisions he makes out on the field.

Does ANYBODY remember how much I got beat up last year when I called McFadden out? How about when I predicted that Houston got by far the best of the #1 with Super Mario, and the Saints shouldve traded away the 2nd for all the Jests were gonna give up......

Listen, once again, McFadden carries over 1/2 his weight above his waist, and he wasnt even a true RB in college, yet everybody had him as the next AP.

I mentioned repeatedly that there was zero footage of him breaking tackles, and the LB's at the next level would be all over him.

As for Bush..almost the same story. I repeatedly mentioned that he was gonna have a tough time at the next level. He had a great year against a very very bad Defensive conference in the Pac-10 and everybody said he was the next Barry Sanders with better hands.

I think he Bus still be a productive Gadget type of player...as will McFadden....difference will be, I still say McFadden will be out of the league within 4 years. He just simply is NOT built to be a RB, and he isnt fast enough or elusive enough to be a WR.

You guys oughta just start calling me by my new name Nostradamus....... :shifty:

PS: Marty makes a funny remark about that last sentence in 5, 4, 3, 2........:tongue2:

Yea, back in 2006, I thought Bush was going to be a bust as well. Like alen1 said, he couldn't run between the tackles in college, and he always tried to juke his man, which resulted in him running backwards and losing yardage. And that type of running style does not work in the NFL. I also said that Lawrence Marony and Denagello Williams were both going to be better Running backs than Reggie Bush.

As for Mcfadden, I think Michael Bush is a better running back than he is.

Reggie Bush isn't worthy of where he was selected but he is a good player as a rb out of the backfield and on returns. If he were drafted in the 3rd round people would be saying he was a solid pick but really you can't make an argument that he is worthy of the 2nd overall pick. He was a heisman winner and have eyepoping college runs/stats, he was hype worthy but so far he hasn't lived up to it. Probably will never be worth the 2nd overall for sure but hes not a total bust of a player.

the saints haven't really been using him to his full talents but he can deffinately be a game changer as he has saved the aints from a good amount of loses.i won't say he's canton bound or bust yet because it's still early in his career.reminds me of how they handled ricky wiliams a little. a different team/co-ordinator may be all bush needs.

    Yeah, very good post.
I do agree that if he were drafted in the late 2nd or 3rd he would translate a nice pick, however compared to say....oh, I don't know, either Ricky or Ronnie, I think he falls well short

If Reggie focused on football as much as he did on Kim Kardashian's butt, maybe he would be heading to the Hall of Fame some day.

Sh!t, I'm even dating her, and it's hard for me to concentrate when I see her. Imagine RB.

I got called everything under the Sun for saying I agreed with the Texans taking Mario Williams. People said "Reggie Bush is the next Gale Sayers, you don't pass on that type of talent" and I would retort with "what if Mario Williams turns into the next Reggie White".

Always take the franchise caliber defensive lineman over the running back....ALWAYS.

Mcfadden was banged up a bit last year, but he still did ok. He ran for a 4.4 clip for his rookie season on a team in absolute dissarray. He had a 164 yard week 2 game, and then got injured in that very game being chased by the guy who blessed the world a week earlier (taking out Tom Brady). he wasn't right the rest of the year. I wouldn't say the verdict is in on McF just yet.

The thing is he did indeed get hurt, and I know lots and lots of players get hurt in the NFL, I am saying the kid is NOT built to take the beating that an NFL runningback takes, especially a tallish runner like he is.
A very very large part of his exploded YPC is indeed a direct result of that game against the Chef's who were NOT a particularly good team against the run last year.

Take away that one game and he was a very mediocre 164 for 335 netting a 3.6 YPC

He is also number 3 on their depth chart.

But that one game was the one game before he got hurt though, that's the point  The 3.6 ypc is after his turf toe. I'm not saying he's destined for stardom, but that we'll see. And yes the Chiefs didn't have the greatest defense. But we didn't even have that much success against them when we played (our best gain was a 44 yard run to Cobbs on a wildcat handoff ... ). Other than that, ronnie brown 8 for 32, Ricky 12 for 34. Polite did have a decent 5 carries though.

And yeah I know weather was crazy for our game, but remember, running games are built for cold weather ... :pointlol:

    Bush: 3,400+ yards - 26 TD (4 PUNTS) - 43 GAMES (top 10 pick)

    Brown: 5,000+ yards - 31 TD - 56 GAMES (top 10 pick)

    Ginn: 1,500+ yards - 9 TD - 36 GAMES (top 10 pick)

Remember..New Orleans needed somebody to put them back on the map.. Reggie Bush did that before he even touched the football field.. Looking at stats you could make an argument that he wasn't worth a high draft pick, but there is no way in HELL they should have taken anybody else.. AJ Hawk?? Vince Young?? All things considered.. I love this pick..

You do have some merit in what you are saying, and I can see you calling out Dbrickashaw (How close was HE to being a Saint) Young et el, but AJ Hawk is playing very solid football
