Yeah but you would be giving up a proven commodity for some hopefuls. In spite of his shortcomings, you know Thomas can produce. He accounted for roughly 1/3 of your offensive TDs last year. Is it wise to give up a sure thing like that?

I will answer your question with a question:

Is it wise to trade away your ENTIRE draft for a QB who came out at least one year too early and was extremely mediocre in his SINGLE year in College

Which leads to a question of my own.

  5. Lets not get ahead of ourselves, realize this, teams had to respect our passing game because of Favre and his arm, i hope we have the same rushing attack that we had last year, but we will not, only because of the QB situation. I hope that we have a better year, but i think teams will be more likely to stack the line unless our QB's can stretch the field.

And the hits just keep coming.

Looks like Alan Faneca will miss at least the rest of Preseason with a broken finger he had surgically repaired.

Dont know how well this link will work, it just came up in the CBS Rapid report... Aug 16th at 5:07 PM.

:cry:AH poor baby has a boo-boo on his finger. Maybe he should talk to Ronnie Lott about finger injuries:wink2:

  12. Umm, there is a big difference between having a finger that hurts and having a finger that needs surgery. Pretty lame post IMO.

Mind telling me how losing $100k is pretty easy? I'd care about that money a LOT more than missing a game.

When Santonio was caught by Pitt last year, the organization suspended him, I don't know if he was fined nearly that amount, if any money at all.

Plus, Ellis should have been suspended last season, not this season.

    Bwahahahaha

    I just heard this.
By far the biggest stretch of the Draft. This could already be the beginning of the end IMO

This kid will be lucky to make it 1/2 way through the season. How many Rookies come in shine immediately? Especially to start the season? Especially after starting 1 year in college, and didn't even shine that much in that one year

This is going to be very very entertaining folks

I think he will take his lumps this season, but the Jets had no choice but to start him, he is better than Clemens. If you had a seasoned vet on the team, than I would say start him.

I think Sanchez will be good, but he will struggle this year.

Tell that to Lawrence Taylor, who played with a broken ankle. Please man, he's on OL. Tape that thing up, put on a cast and get in there.

Yet another piece of evidence to add to the argument that hockey players are the toughest athletes.

Not sure how I read into that actually.

I can understand the Jests...kindve.. The Donkos obviously, but the Brownies and Lions????
OConnell showed some promise when coming out of College.

What has me scratching my head is why the Patsies let him go?
Brady could easily go down this season, and now their lone backup I believe is Andrew Walter? Are you kidding me

Walter could do well there, IMO. He's got a big arm and decent accuracy. When he started in Oakland, it was a complete mess of an offense.

I saw TONS of Walter in his college days. He does indeed have a major league arm, but he was always very very inconsistent. Timing routes et el, are not at all his specialty, which of course is what makes the patsies click.

He is a smart kid, and perhaps the staff in NE can help, and yes I agree he was completely thrown to the wolves in Oakland, think he is happier in NE

The way I look at it is if Brady goes down, Walter could have success because they would probably go back to that spread offense that made Cassel a sixty million dollar man and a good player. Their spread offense wouldn't put so much pressure on Walter because its either throw down field to Randy Moss on a skinny post (or go route) or dump it off to Welker who's running a slant or drag route with a mix of delayed hand-offs to their halfbacks. Its what I saw from them with Cassel starting and remember, Cassel was also an inconsistent performer for about the first seven or so weeks. I remember watching him against Denver, misfiring on short passes and struggling to pass accurately down the field but later, he got on a hot streak and finished the season pretty well. I'm not saying that Walter would perform like Cassel did but it wouldn't surprise me if Walter had some success.

Also, to get this back on topic, I think Sanchez could do fine in New York. They're going to have growing pains with him obviously but I think if they play to his strengths, which I expect, then he'll be alright. My biggest concerns with that offense is Damian Woody and the pass catchers. Woody has incredibly slow feet in my opinion and while he did play pretty well last year, I'd be surprised if he played as well this year. I expect Dustin Keller to see more time on inline blocking because from what I know - and if I'm wrong, please correct me - they don't have a blocking tight end. Keller's strengths are working the middle of the field, which in my opinion, works pretty well with Sanchez as Sanchez has good accuracy on short to intermediate throws. Also, Sanchez has a good arm but is a bit inconsistent when it comes to putting it on the money down the field. I know calling a player coming out of college "inconsistent" is somewhat of bad analysis because inconsistency can be just about applied to any prospect coming out but I think the label fits it pretty well. With his inconsistency throwing down the field, what does that do for a guy like David Clowney, who may or may not be their number two or three guy? His best skill is probably speed or at least that's what I recall when I watched him in Green Bay.

Denver says he isnt on the market, but we will see where this goes.

Well they did sign Ben Hartsock today who's supposedly a blocking TE. Not much of a pass catcher but I think he fills their need of a blocking TE freeing up Keller.

I have to agree with on Woody. He just seems like a better fit inside at OG. I'm thinking we may see a drop off from him this year. Faneca too is starting to get up there in age so its possible we see his production decline as well. That whole roster to me is just seriously lacking depth.
