Jacory Harris has ice water running through his system. I admire his coolness in the pocket. That's just his make up though, cool-calm-collected. Feels good to have him as our qb.

That defensive stand at the end of the game reminded me of our game against the chargers when they went for it on 4th down on us and we shut em down. Same feeling, wow. Gotta give it up to the O-line for FSU, Ponder seemed like he could throw all day at times and getting pressure on him in that goal line situation was very unexpected. I could feel an FSU score coming, had my fingers crossed.

Bring on EDIT: GT!! & VT!! go U.

Before this season started, I was more worried about FSU than GT to be honest. If we stay disciplined against GT, we should do well.

Btw, did you guys see when Harris spun out of a sack and then just like stood there for a half second like the whistle blew? After that, he throws a dart to the middle of the field for like fifteen yards.

I didn't see it as him standing there. I thought he was looking down the field for an open man when it happened.

I was on the phone with my girl, who is a huge Texas fan, and I said "That is some Texas Vince Young s**t right there!"

I loved our offensive playcalling. We weren't afraid to go down field even on third and long situations.

I've had some time to think about it now. More than winning this game, the amazing feeling is that I never felt out of the game because of the QB we had, or the guy calling plays. We weren't afraid to go deep on early downs. We weren't afraid to go for it on third and long. We ran the ball effectively early and that allowed Harris to settle down and get comfortable.

If Harris goes and has another great game against GT I'm ready to call him a big time college QB. Imagine being in his shoes. You're in your second season playing college football, you just threw the interception to give your opponent the lead. Except this isn't any opponent. This is your biggest rival and you are in THEIR house. 80,000 screaming Seminole fans are against you, so what do you do? Do you fold under the pressure? Not if you're Jacory Harris. What you do is come back and play better than you ever have in your life. You drive your team down the field repeatedly and get the lead no matter what the other team does on offense.

His stat line will NOT show how great he was. Neither of his interceptions were bad plays. The first was just him taking a shot on third and long when we weren't going to score anyway. The second time he stood in the pocket and tried to deliver the ball. Would it have been complete? Probably not but we can never know. He showed OUTSTANDING poise in the pocket, made a couple plays avoiding the rush, and delivered the ball with pinpoint accuracy down the field. Jacory gets a HUGE thumbs up from me for his performance today, I'm thankful that he is our QB.

On defense we shut down the run well early, and my only real issue is that if you are going to play off of the ball you need to converge and tackle well. Which we did early but not as the game went on. Our corner play down the field was excellent in my opinion, but on the short screens we were terrible. Too many yards after the catch given up. My other issue with the defense was poor run/pass recognition by our ends. However our two starting ends are out so I give them a small pass on that. I'd like to see more consistent pressure on opposing QB's as the season unfolds.

Moment of the game: The look on our backup QB's face when we won. I knew EXACTLY what he was thinking. "Thank god I didnt have to play".

This is the most athletic looking U team that I've seen in years, but Shannon needs to manage the game better, two timeouts were used early in the 2nd half that could have really hurt the team.

And to many receivers were running free in the Canes secondary, they had free releases and turned the secondary into a track meet.

One of the things nobody mentioned is that the pass rush was there but FSU was getting away with a lot of holding on the DE's. When Robinson stripped the ball the RT had him around the throat.

Anyone hear what the cramping problem was caused by? Players that practice in South Florida shouldn't be have that problem playing in North Florida. Did FSU turn off the water in the visitors’ locker room?

Randy Shannon is not a great coach. Whipple was the coach of this game. It really made me the most angry when no coach realized that Reid was in position to catch the squib kick after the last TD. That could have been a game losing mistake.

What a great overall game though. I think I may need to relax today just to recover! I saw the season flash before my eyes when Harris walked to the sidelines holding his arm. Who knew he just needed to get pissed off to get it going in high gear! How long has it been since we've seen the ball get thrown down the field successfully? Man am I hyped!

    Great game. Congrats UM.

oh and Bezzle, don't be mistaken... there was big time holding on both olines. I thought the refs did a pretty fair job of calling the game. If they called it one way they did the same for the other team.

No doubt about that. The refs didn't seem to want to call holding at all. I was just pointing out that Miami's pass rush was much better than it appeared due to all the holding. That's encouraging for :theu: because both starting DE's are out for awhile. FSU's OL is supposed to be one of the best in the country so I'll take Miami's performance.

I didn't understand what the new DC was running. It was like a Cover 2 without a MIKE linebacker. He shifted his linebackers over to the strong side and then blitzed the MLB, leaving a gaping hole across the middle of the field. Then other plays, I don't know what he was doing because he had his safeties cover thirds of the field but clear up the middle, there was no one. I don't know if he was thinking that he would drop the MLB down the pipe but instead he blitzed him, so we had a huge hole in the middle of the field.

Check out the Jacory Harris interview if you have a couple of minutes. "What did you learn about Jacory Harris tonight" ? Jacory goes "I learned that I'm not the man and that I need my teammates with me."

The squib kick should be taken out of every playbook. It is a stupid play, and there is no logical explanation for running it.

We haven't won a lot of important games under him, and have had a revolving door of coordinators and qb's coming and going. I think we're in good shape right now. We win some more games like that one last night, his bandwagon will start to fill up again.

BTW, the game's on ESPN Classic tonight at 8pm. :theu:

I was for the hiring and still am but you have to be realistic when you evaluate his overall performance. He's a good but not great coach. He doesn't manage games very well at all. His strengths lie mostly outside of actual game day. He needs to have great coordinators to be successful. There's nothing wrong with that but he's no Jimmy Johnson. I really hope he can put it all together though. The attitude and discipline he brings back to the program is key.

Why call the squib near the end of the game? Yeah your ST coverage units had been playing ****ty but damn you've got to give those kids a chance to make a play.

Miami,s skill positions makes them a natural fit for the spread offense. If they do underachieve and end up making a change, they should go with the spread.

Jacory actually is a pretty good pro-set college QB. Unless he really bulks up that won't translate to the next level, but he is a very good passer from any formation.

As for our other skill players, we do recruit well enough to have the talent to run a spread. I like that we run a more pro style, but if running a spread is what it takes to win then so be it.

I think we have a good team for our current scheme.

I just realized GT and VT are ranked #15 and #14 respectively in todays poll. As the #20 team how far do you think we would move up in the rankings if we beat both of them? I know that will be incredibly tough to do, but as a hypothetical.

I guess it really depends on if anyone else ahead of us were to lose as well. I'd love to crack the top 10 again....even if it's just for a week.

If Miami can (miraculously) win their first 4 games, they're in the top 6-8, and maybe higher if anyone else stumbles. Those wins combined with that SOS would catapult them. Either OSU or USC will drop after this week (probably OSU) which likely drops them out of the top 10.

Also, you have to think a team like Penn State would get bumped given their weak SOS.

I really think we CAN beat GT next week. It's a home game, we have a good offense this season, and they spanked us last year and our defense will NOT overlook them. Not to mention it's the home opener we better come out on fire.

Virginia Tech will be a lot tougher. It's on the road, and they are a good team. They don't strike fear into my heart though, they aren't unbeatable.

The Oklahoma game is very interesting to me. Will Bradford play? It's a home game for us which is great. I don't know if either of our starting ends will be back by then, but that could be a huge plus. Maybe the secondary gets a bit more tight by then as well. DVD barely played last night. It was Sam Shields in his first ever game as a corner getting beat. This is the one I don't expect to win, but I wouldnt be completely shocked if we did.

If Sam Shields played for the Miami Dolphins instead of the Canes', his *** would've been cut a long time ago. That experiment at DB almost cost them the game.

That said, I think if Miami can tackle (which they didn't do yesterday or last year at GT) they have a chance in that game. The Run D looked ok last night, but wasn't really tested for the most part.

Bradford is the key. If he doesn't play, look for the Canes to stack the box. I like their chances.

You have to think Harris and Co. will put up a nice game against that GT defense though, and VT looked really sloppy. Tyrod can be dangerous, especially as Miami seems to have a problem with mobile QB's.

Look at next year's full back and goal line back.

Maurice Hagen. He ran for 150 yards on 29 carries against Plant High School. Reminds me of LaRon McClain in the pictures.

I can understand it, sometimes a cover player who blitzes catches the blocking scheme totally off balance, like Nate Jones for us, the problem is once you show it, you cannot use it again...but DC did...all night long...
