Man, USC losing was sweeettt, ESPN "College Game Day" spends hours massaging Pete Carrol and USC, none of their "experts" gave Washington a ghost of a chance. USC loses and ESPN looks like the Marketing Homers that they are, and a top ten team loses opening a slot for to climb into the top 10.
Yeah I wish Tressel called the plays he did vs Toledo. He actually ran the QB Sneak and they threw it deep. Ah FML
I suppose. Regardless of the outcome of this game, I think we have a pretty damn good shot at beating Oklahoma. I was never too high on BYU. Their team just doesn't impress me.
Yeah I mean I'm not WORRIED about our next two games. That sounds cocky but I think we can win both. Not to say we cant lose. We COULD lose both they are good teams. But I dont have that feeling of "Oh God" like I would have last year.
I just think we match up well with both teams. The only thing that really scares me about Virginia Tech is special teams. They're dangerous at that aspect of the game and we're the polar opposite. Against Oklahoma, I like our chances. I could see that game working out like the GT game did, honestly.
Watching VT today made me feel good about beating them. For all the talk about how intimidating their stadium is.....well today it wasn't. Their offense was pretty bad as well. I like Oklahoma because it's a home game. I like it double if we beat VT, riding the momentum.
I don't see much difference between Nesbitt and Tyrod Taylor. Both are crap IMO. Taylor's more elusive but in the end, he can't pass either. I'm willing to let their receivers match up with Brandon Harris. In the Oklahoma game, the thing that I hope for is the safeties being comfortable. I think they cant' cheat up like they did against Georgia Tech. Its understood why they did that but they can't do it again. Vaughn Telemaque I like a lot as an in the box safety but I dont' recall him doing much coverage against GT. I think Randy Phillips is good but he can get undisciplined.
I think BYU is always overrated, even when they're really, legitimately good. Not to take anything away from FSU - 54 points is 54 points.
BYU is one of those perenially "good" teams, they never have top talent but they do tend to put out solid seasons. As for VT...Taylor is such an athlete that if the game is close I'd be worried about a long run, if we go up 10 pts VT will be in serious trouble. Someone mentioned GT was a better team and after watching VT I agree with them, GT is more explosive.
I believe there's a truth and you can't get away from it: to be really legit, you have to play in a major conference. Not to say Utah last year wasn't terrific...but the fact is that until they have to face good teams - GOOD teams - week in and week out in conference games, we wouldn't know exactly how good they are. There's a lot to be said for that battle-hardness. Then there's the other side of the coin: conferences so tough that they beat each other to death intra-conference and the really good teams end up losing a lot of inter-conference games. The present ACC comes to mind, as does the old Big Eight with Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado and Oklahoma State. Pete mentioned the Pac-10 in another thread, and it's an example of a conference in desperate need of expansion, because it has too many teams that go cold for a decade at a time, and the only consistent power there the last ten years or so has been USC...so that, like with the smaller conferences, you can never really trust in what you're seeing with USC until they play inter-conference. Unless Washington or Oregon knock them off.
Ok and Miami barely escaped with a win vs FSU....should that affect the Canes standings as well? 54 points on the road, 7th ranked team.......I mean come on
Ohio St will lose they have no offense and Purdue is taking the Dline out of the game by using quick underneath routes.
God that D-line made that defense you take them out of the game and Ohio St's defense is very mediocre. I hope I see Bauserman in there.
Umm JT needs to get his fieldgoals in. I thought you would know that. They don't call him fieldgoal Jim for nothin.
Only if Iowa gameplans similar to Purdue. I still think the Ohio ST Dline is one of the best. It was just taken out of the game by Purdue's gameplan. All depends on the play of Pryor.
