Credit to Dana White. He just found the next interesting fight for Silva: Vitor Belfort.

So we were watching the card in a bar.
Cro Cop walks in a pride tshirt...
and two guys behind me, conversation.

" - Hey man, what the hell is pride? Why he isn't wearing tapout or something"
"- THat's his camp dude. The Croatian Pride camp, I read about it"
"- That's weird, they never mention it in the ultimate fighter"
"- I think Ken Shamrock used to train there"

At that point i couldn't listen, i mean i was LAUGHIN MY ****IN *** OFF, i had to go to the bathroom and calm down...I know im not great at storytelling, but if you were there....man.

    I have one too.

The place is packed and pretty into things. This woman has groped me nearly a dozen times throughout the night. She feels me up again waiting for a drink. And it goes like this...

Her: "When is Mayweather fighting? Is it the next one?"
Me: "It's this one [points at screen]."
    Her: "Oh really?"
Me: "Yeah, it's the 12th round."
    Her: "Oh ok."
Her: "I like Mayweather. He's just such a nice guy. Who are you rooting for?"
Me: "Marquez. I always root for the underdog."
    Her: "Which one is that?"
Me: "The one that's not Mayweather."
Her: "I really like Mayweather. He's a really nice guy."

She then asks who the other guys are (on the big screen, which was Franklin-Belfort). I said it was the Cubs and Bears. She's like "ooooohh". We were cracking up.

I had a vision of what would be the biggest mega fight in UFC history....

    and it can happen......

even if the fighters talk about how great friends they are.....

    Machida gets rid of shogun....

Machida vs. Silva will make the biggest GATE in the history of PPV.

    can you imagine?

    No.

Silva already said he won't fight Machida and I can't see Dana White really trying to twist his arm. He doesn't have many fights left on his contract anyways.

Belfort will prob fight one of the two.

 Your at least a month late with that vision. Its already been talked about quite a bit. Those two are very good friends and do not want to fight each other. Would be a great fight, but very doubtful it would happen.

They would have to have that fight at the new Cowboys stadium to make enough profit for Dana to justify paying either one of them half that.

Does Silva really strike you as the kind of person who could be bought like that?

Aside from the fact that he's been the biggest draw in the sport for the last 4-5 years and I'm sure he's already loaded.

    Will never happen, imo.

Sounds like Cro Cop is done, and good for him. And the public.

As for Machida-Silva, I wonder how long it would take for either guy to throw a punch/kick.

GSP would be a more exciting fight because he'll engage. But it wouldn't be a fair fight because Silva is that much bigger and can easily compete at 205. I don't think GSP wants that fight and there's nothing wrong with that. Honestly, I don't want it to happen.

I hate fights where dominant guys have to move up and face another dominant guy who's bigger. All things being equal, the bigger man will always win. If GSP has to move up, I'd rather see him face Dan Henderson or Vitor. Bigger guys, yes. But they aren't dominant nor full 205'ers. Makes things more even.

they can have the fight at teh MGM in a 20k seat arena. it is not like it hasn;t happened before.

    Boxing Does it.

they do it based on PPV sales and gate receipts.

A Machida vs. Silva fight would provide 2 million PPV buys. they can EASILY pay each guy 15 million dollars for a 30 million dollar purse.

then you appeal to his warrior spirit and tell him the truth....

the only fight that would be a defining fight at 205 is Machida.

he can fight a bunch of guys that would bring interest. machida/silva is the last big fight in that division till a new set of 205'ers come around.

a GSP / Silva fight would in essence be the GSP / Penn II fight ...but with GSP playing the role of the smaller guy moving up like Penn did.

    And he'd probably counter with:

Vitor Belfort will definitely make some interesting fights at 205 as well. A lot of opportunities with him.

I mentioned the Cowboy stadium as a reference to the attendance to payout ratio the UFC generally pays its fighters. To pay any fighter that much for one fight they would have to have 100K in attendance to justify it, regardless of PPV buys. These guys get a couple hundred K per fight (on average) and you think Dana would just pony up 15 mil a piece for that fight??? I don't see it.

you don't need attendance to pay fighters. boxing has never done it that way.

    regardless of PPV buys?

it is ALL ABOUT PPV buys.

a 2 million PPV buy translates into a 100 Million dollar gross PPV gate. simple math.

it is how Boxing is able to pay Mayweather 12 million for that fight on saturday.

and BTW...a regular 20k seat sellout at the MGM also leaves you a big bucketfull of cash as well.

and if that fight ever gets made...Silva and Machida would be idiots to not ask for a ridiculous amount of money.

You're absolutely correct. There's no way in hell the UFC would pay that kind of money. Maybe years down the road, but most definitely not now.

Also, the days of boxing paying that kind of money are all but over. With popularity seriously waning, there is no way on Earth boxing is going to be able to generate the kind of opportunities that it used to. The numbers aren't out yet, but I'd be willing to bet that UFC 103 had more PPV buys than Mayweather vs. Marquez.

And if the supposed biggest star in all of boxing can't outdraw a UFC PPV that didn't even have a title fight, I say the writing is on the wall...

UFC 103 was a very, very average card to say the least.
I watched it just for my last hoorah for Cop. And i called the fact that it will be a KTFO vicotry by jesus, i mean Belfort.

I see what you are saying, but I dont think UFC sold more ppvs.

Im very happy for Belfort. This guy is a legend in my books simply due to how great he was at such a young age. It is horrible what happened to him and his family, which certainly had an impact on his ability to surge back to the top after getting dismantled by Couture.

What I have always liked about him is that he breaks the typical mold for Brazilian MMA. Sure he has a background in BJJ but his striking is fierce. Still to this day one of the funniest highlights ever is that :44 fight against Wanderlei Silva.

I would like to see Cro Cop fight in the 205 division. He is way too small of a heavyweight to fight in that division among guys that outweigh him by 40 lbs. But then again, if his heart isn't into it, he might as well just hang it up. I was really hoping to see some of his famous leg strikes in the octagon. Too bad it just never panned out.

I can at least see why Belfort is like that bc of all the **** that happened with his sister.

Sanchez just strikes me as a religious dbag who takes himself and everything else waaay too seriously.
