This afternoon shortly after 12 my fire dept. was dispatched to assist Ocean City MD with a structure fire. And it was a big one, over 20 fire dept. were involved in the efforts to control this blaze. I tip my hat to the Ocean city fire dept. for making a great stop to keep the fire contained to the areas it did. with a stiff breeze coming off the ocean this could have been a great deal worse then what it was. http://www.wboc.com/global/story.asp?s=8090273 http://www.bethanybeachfire.com/gallery.cfm?id=147 I'll update as more pics become available.
I bet you could, I will admit it does take a certain kind of person to do it, but there more jobs to do on the fire grounds then just handling the knob. There are all kinds of exterior tasks that are vital to the guys inside. And maybe the one big advantage of a volly dept. over a career dept. is you don't have to go in to be a member. As long as you know you limitations and do not push yourself beyond to the point you are endangering others, you can be just as much of an asset as the next.

Thanks for sharing bro. I personally have all the respect for each and every one of you who lay your life on the line for others.
This is from the Ocean City Fire Dept. It gives a complete listing of all the equipment and departments that were involved. http://www.ocvfc.com/gallery.cfm?id=105&ss=1
Saw this on the news this morning. Looks pretty crazy, I can imagine as crowded as those buildings on the boardwalk are it could spread pretty quick. I'm headed down there in a couple weeks.
are you staying in OC? Maybe we can get together for some wings and a beer @ Smitty McGee's. The weekends are starting to get packed and last weekend there were a lot of people down. If there was one positive about the fire it was on Sunday when the crowds started to thin down.
I tip my hat to all of you guys.. the Vols and Paid... you all have my most sincere respect.... too many people take firefighters and EMTs for granted... until they need them.
Yes it is. I am 7 miles southwest of Bethany Beach so if you want to get together while you are down just let me know.
Will do, don't have exact plans yet but we always make it down that way a hand full of times over the summer.
