How big do you all think the gap between Eric Berry and Morgan Burnett is? I'm a big fan of Burnett and I would not mind him if Berry went before the Dolphins pick.

I really like Morgan Burnett a lot (would love to have him on my team), but the gap between him and Berry is much bigger than the gap between Bryant and Benn at WR IMO.

Burnett is a late 1st rounder IMO (simply because safeties are undervalues), while Berry is a top 5 talent.

I don't think you find any UF fans that can logically argue with that. I was surprised as anyone to see him rated that high. His own position coach said he hasn't done anything to warrant that rating. He was defensive player of the game in the national championship game last season but that rating is based off pure physical potential IMO.

yeah I know!. I cant believe how highly rated he is. I didnt see anything in his game that said this guy is a first rounder. One of the most overrated prospects Ive seen at this stage

Both very good players. Burnett you could line up at corner with little problem.

Boom, you watch Alex Carrington of Arkansas St. last night? I know we're unlikely to add a 3-4 down lineman but he looks like a good prospect. He's had success getting after the quarterback to boot so maybe he's a 1 gap player. Problem with him is that he lacks explosiveness off the LOS IMO. Very good strength to hold up blocks though.

Louisiana Monroe's Aaron Morgan doesn't look like a bad player. Looks to have Aaron Maybin's physique but certainly not the talent. Morgan looks very quick off the line but seems to attack the interior of the OL often instead of the exterior. He'll start out at five technique and then go strong to the inside and split the double team with a rip move. Problem is, that's the only thing he does.

Carrington I like quite a bit. Good player IMO. Watched him take on double teams last night, stand them up and set the edge well. Quality strength there and doesn't look too bad running laterally. I like him as a fourth rounder or so. As noted earlier, I think if you're going to put him on the exterior of the defensive line, it has to be in a 3-4. In a 4-3, I think you slide him over to defensive tackle. Last, he doesn't have a bad rip move for a big man. I think Carrington goes at 6'4", 284 lbs but he showed some flashes of getting under the blockers pads. I just don't think it's something that will be consistent with him.

Aaron Morgan has potential but sits only at 225 lbs I believe and looks very raw to me. I know there were a plethora of NFL scouts attending last nights game so maybe they are watching these two players.

There was also cornerback Daylan Walker of Arkansas State who didn't look too bad. Probably an UDFA but 5'9", 178 and is willing to stick his head in the run game. Looks like a pure zone cornerback though.

Funny you mention that. One side view of him in the 4th qtr had me thinkin "damn this guy looks like a very young JT in pads!"
How'd you like the KO tackle that the left guard put on his own running back? That was classic!!

Sitting here re-watching the Minnesota - California game from a couple weeks ago to see a few players and a statistic popped up that I thought was very interesting. Through five (?) games, Eric Decker accounts for 49% of the teams receptions and 63% of the yards.

Buyer beware written tag on Sapp but apparently, it's not causing NFL teams to take two steps back.

    Also, someone wants Sergio Kindle.

Last, USF's defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is said to be rising up draft boards because of his size and athleticism he's shown. He goes at 6'6", 260 and has an 81 inch wingspan I believe. He's a former basketball player, which many Scouts love in end and LB prospects but remember -- he has broken his leg three times in his life. He's a freak though, he can do a standing back flip in pads lol. A great story told by many about Paul is when he left a game on a stretcher because of a neck injury. He goes to the hospital, gets the helmet cut off, comes BACK to the stadium afterwards with a doctors note and convinces his coaches to play him! Incredible. Btw, here's his official numbers when he was tested out as a senior in high school.

    Height: 6'6"
    Weight: 265 lbs.
    40 time: 4.71

ETA - Is anyone watching this third quarter? Pierre-Paul is taking over this game. He's a bit raw but WOW! First play of the drive at the 10.00 mark, Cincinnati runs a zone stretch and Paul runs down the LOS and drops the tailback for a loss with a huge hit. Next play on the series, he explodes off the LOS, disengages from the RT, kicks it inside and makes a play on the scrambling quarterback for the sack. The series before that, Paul comes in, blows up the pocket twice in a row including knocking Pike on his *** on the play in which Jerome Murphy I think got the penalty for hitting a defenseless Gilyard across the middle. Paul is a freak. On the first Cincinnati drive, the first play of it, Paul explodes off the LOS, gets under the RT's pads, runs the arch - forcing Pike to scramble out of the pocket. Then Paul circles the RT with ease - no stiffness in his hips - runs out to the flats on the strong side and shows great pursuit and lateral speed as he's right on the tail of Pike.

There he goes again! 1.10 in the third quarter - forces the INT!

8.25 - 4th quarter - he gets another big play, sacking the quarterback and forcing a 2nd and 15.

    Nice stuff, Alen. Thanks. ;)

Pierre Paul has the "it" factor written all over him, doesn't he!!

Speaking of the game, who would win in a "Best Legs" contest between Tony Pike and George Selvie?

Kindle is a mouth watering talent but IMO appears to play a little out of control from what I've seen so far. I'd like to follow him to see if he's coachable and what kind of marbles he has upstairs. Maybe it just takes a little longer for a player to learn how to gain control of that much ability and inertia (like learning how to drive an Enzo Ferrari instead of a Nissan Z....barely punch the gas too hard and you're into the walll).

Yeah, I talked him up last year. He's small, but a good leaper and very feisty. Will come up and hit you in the run game. Has that sode saddle cover technique but reminds me some of Antoine Winfield.

Agreed on all points. The thing that sticks out most for me is his discipline. He's primarily a zone cornerback this year and his discipline is outstanding. He doesn't get out of position at all, really. There's only one question that I have with him and that's his ability to stay in the hip pocket of WR's down the field. I've seen him do it but not often and that's an issue for me. Two other things that stand out to me that can be corrected are his footwork and his play right off the line. His footwork can get choppy at times, it rarely does but when it does, it affects his ability to change directions quite a bit. The other thing is when he comes off the line at times, he'll turn his back to the WR - watch that Minnesota game - and that can be taken advantage of at the next level. However those are small issues in my eyes and they will be corrected.

If you're an NFL Scout and you're watching Oklahoma/Texas, you've got to start wondering about the toughness of Sam Bradford.

On a sidenote, I'm flipping back and fourth through like four gamse and Brian Baluga of Iowa looks very good from little I've seen.

OT - Wisconsin's OT Gabe Carimi looks good once again. I've watched him twice prior to this game against Iowa and I really like his run blocking.

dropping both QB sam bradford and LB jake norwood to 2nd rounders. bradford has turned into chad pennington with all the injuries imo plus i had questions about him to start with. norwood is having extremem difficulty in the run defense against alabama. i might even have norwood as a 3rd rounder. rolondo mcclain remains firmly entrenched in 1st round
