Per Adam Schefter on ESPN, this past Spring, we had open discussions with the Browns about a Ronnie Brown for Braylon Edwards swap. He didn't go into other compensation discussion, but that was the basis of the deal. I would've been hot about that one.
Me either. I can't possibly imagine a parameter of a deal that involved giving up Ronnie Brown for a WR that has the dropsies.
yeah when i first heard it on espn i didnt want to believe it. I just dont see our FO doing something that stupid.
You'd be surprised at the things that are considered that never reach the light of day. Just because it was talked about doesn't mean it was going to happen.
I don't think it would have been Brown. If Brown was included they would have least included 2 first round picks along with Edwards. Anyhow, I'm intrigued that they sorted after Edwards. It would have brought Henne's favourite target from college to the Fins. If they still really want the Edwards, Fins can wait until he is a free agent. This is Edwards contract year (same as Brown) so he becomes a free agent before the start of the 2010 season. However, if there isn't a new CBA in place before the new season starts he will be still under contract for one more year.
Glad it never happened. I don't buy jerseys very often and I just got a Ronnie one before this season. Ronnie is the best player on this football team, and getting rid of him pretty much would have killed the wildcat, which is our most potent offensive weapon. He runs it way better than anyone else. I know we desperately need a receiver and Ted Ginn and his entire family is not the answer, but we can't do it at the expense of the best player on the team who is relatively young.
Edwards had a good game tonight but you don't replace Ronnie, not with Ricky retiring after next year.
