I just wanted to say if its cool with Motion and Mor that maybe this can become the official Uncharted thread? Also besides that I just wanted to post that the Uncharted 2 multiplayer demo goes live today on the PSN store (today being September 29th). Link: http://www.ps3center.net/news/3767/uncharted-2-demo-opens-to-general-public-tomorrow/
Anyone play the demo yet? I downloaded last night but haven't played. Hooked on Yakuza 2 at the moment.
I did and I was impressed. It takes awhile to get accustomed to the control scheme but probably about 2 minutes if you have played Uncharted before. I played a deathmatch round and came in second place so its not too big of a learning curve and this demo is fleshed out. For the deathmatch round I played you had to get to 50 kills to win (via a team) and there was a clock that would count down as well but I did not notice how long it was (had to be a long time though because I probably played about 20 mins in that one round and time was still left). Also in addition to deatmatch there are three other modes you can play. I believe one is a co-op, one is a co-op with objectives, and the other is like a co-op against a swarm of enemies (ie survival). I only played deathmatch but all these options seemed to be available to play. Overall this is probably the best demo of an online game I have played since Battlefield: Bad Company. The online portion will add a huge amount of reasons to keep playing the game. Great addition IMO. However if someone is used to COD only it will be quite different but overall I loved it. Also Motion next time you are on we could play some co-op if you want. Oh and also something strange I noticed is that just about everyone playing the game uses mics and actual strategy. There was one point where me and a team member were taking on about 4 of them and out of nowhere their extra team members came up from behind and killed us both so obvious strategy there. I can only imagine how great the full online version will be.
PS: I really like the new Uncharted 2 commercial where the guy is complaining that his g/f thinks Uncharted 2 is a movie.
Really looking forward to this game. Might wait to get it for financial reasons and just live w/ some of the other games I have but havent beaten yet. The game store around the corner from me routinely breaks street date, so I've been fighting the temptation to buy this for a few days now. Must...stay...strong...
All I can say is "WOW!" Normally I get so pumped up for a game that when I get it the game disappoints but that isn't the case here. Everything so far has been phenomenal...the graphics, the voice acting, the gameplay, and cut-scenes and actual gameplay are seamless (a few times I was just sitting watching the game waiting for the cut-scene to finish and then realized that it was back to gameplay). The attention to detail in this game is amazing...to me it really is like watching a movie like Sony said. This is easily the best game I have played this generation and maybe ever. Wonderful.
Seamless is exactly how I would described it. There is absolutely no difference between cut scenes and gameplay. Naughty Dog has to be the greatest developers ever. Done the first couple of chapters, and it is just awesome. Already plot twists and fun action. The stealth play is a REALLY nice touch to the game. Who knew one can improve upon perfection. 11/10 for me.
Yes I forgot about talking about the stealth...its awesome (although I wish you could make distraction like in MGS but that is a small flaw). Its a wonderful game. Also I think I saw you playing when I was tonight strangely enough.
just left Target (I'm anti-gamestop) Still gotta wait till I get home from work. That's two games I paid for in the last 6 days (also bought Magna Carta II)
im 50% through. Truly an epic game. It really is a ridiculous action game. You name it, it's in the game. Helicopter explosions, high speed chases, bombs, guns, girls, etc. and graphically speaking, this couldn't have been done on the 360. Very impressive.
i disagree completely. It looks great, but I've yet to see something on PS3 that I don't think can be done on the 360. Not really necessary, but it'll help in understanding a bit about the characters.
well its a great game if you wanna play it for that reason. but if you just really wanna play Uncharted 2 then no. All you need to know is Drakes a sometimes shady treasure hunter who always plays the hero in the end. He and Elana had a thing going in the first game, something happened in between the two games and now theres a new chick in uncharted 2. The first game was about drake finding francis drakes fortune. Uncharted 2 is about finding shangrila. In both games your racing against theives for the treasure. GO!
Near the end of 2 (I'm at the end now I think - will beat it tonight), they change it up a bit. Not as annoying as they did it in part 1. I love the game, but I do have gripes. It annoys me that every single thing this guys walks on has to break. It ended up taking the excitement out of it later in the game for me. Every ledge, bridge, or anything that he walks on has to break, crumble, or explode and he barely makes it and hangs on with one hand. Do this 10 gazzillion times in the game and it just turns into me saying "Oh come one... How many times can this BS happen". The first few times are shockers and you think "Wow this is intense". But they do it so much it loses it's appeal. Even my ADD brother was saying "Jeez, does everything have to break" - Sounding kind of annoyed just watching me play.
you never felt like, "Geez this is getting old with crap breaking right when you're on it and nobody else"?
well.... Spoiler As snips said, they do roll into a non-human-ish enemy at the end (what I think is the end). But it's neither as abrupt or as WTF-ish as the 1st game
oh definitely. they reused a bunch of crap that got annoying. the same exact animcation for helping someone up a latter. Having someone jump over a gap and you catching them, crap falling apart. they even used the same animations for when drake opened up doors with someone.
