I have been wanting to start playing games over the net for about 6 months now. I have purchased a nice remote for my computer. My computer is set up with the best gaming tech available last year. Now I need to take the next step. I am sure that I need to buy games made for the PC first and foremost and have done so. Now I need to know what other components I need to get started playing online. I also need to know where I can signup and start playing once I have all the hardware that I need. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
I haven't been into PC games for awhile, but from what I remember most games will have a button on start up to play online, and it just logs you into the online server. Then you'll chose a game based on number of players, ping, map, whatever.
Yeah it all depends on what games you want to play. Depending on the game and type (FPS, RPG, MMORPG) you'll need to keep your hardware up to date. Last year's tech will work for ya for a little while, but if you start getting hardcore into this gaming thing you'll soon see how much and how costly you'll need to keep it up to date. Most games will have a multiplayer option that you just click, and then you'll browse different servers that are available. Just choose the best ping and connect. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll always want to stay updated with the latest patches for games, as most of the servers will not operate on older versions of the game that arent patched. What games are you considering?
You dont need anything else. Just get a good computer, which it sounds like you have one that will handle most games (Crysis for example you might want to avoid) and a fast internet connection and you're good to go. What kind of games are you interested in playing also? Are we talking first person shooters, mmorpgs, rts? A head set is handy if you want to talk to the nerds you're playing with, but that too depends on the game.
Massive Multiplayer online role playing games (World of Warcraft) RTS are real time strategy - Star Craft or Red Alert types.
Yep. This is the key. If your CPU is decent, then you should be able to play anything really even if not at full blown graphics awesomeness. But the key is what games are you looking for?
Thanks for all the helpful suggestion guys! I think I just might have it licked! BTW, is it possible to play Madden or soCOM or any of the other games online without having the CD available on my computer?
there are no-cd cracks for almost every game. Its harder to actually play them multiplayer though without the CD since alot of servers check for cd validation codes
