What you Ginn defenders need to realize its not been just ONE game. Its been all two and half seasons hes been on this team! How about the Colts game? Its in the end zone for Ginn and....DROP and again... WHOOPS! But thats just two games...shall I keep presenting more evidence of his ineptitude at being our #1 WR? How much more do you need? You either have it or you dont, and it pains me to say, he ain't got it.
Ronnie Brown dropped one exactly like that in the Jets game. He turned upfield before he secured it. Those drops bother me very little compared to the pass that resulted in an INT, the pass into the end zone, and the one deep down the middle.
The 2nd one is most certainly not a drop, I am not sure that the 1st one would get counted as a drop, but he definitely could have caught it (could've caught both). As to you showing he isn't our #1, go ahead, because he is our #1. Certainly has been all this year. Is he a good #1? Nope. Yet he hasn't been supplanted yet even with all those 2 and a half seasons that are being harped on. If I can paraphrase JetsSuck: "how much does that suck? Despite how bad he has been, he's still the best we got. That has to change."
I said it once, and everyone else has said it. He leaves, everyone else's production drops. He opens it up underneath for everyone else.
Drops happen. Even Ricky had a drop that helped cost us that game Sunday. But Ginn has show a consistent pattern of being inconsistent, thats my whole beef with him. Ive tried being patient. But in your third season, after all is said and done, and you havent shown any improvement, its time to start looking elsewhere for him to contribute. This isnt directed at you, Pete, but just saying: If you screw up on the job the first few times, you learn from it and strive not to make the same mistakes again, especially if it has gotten the attention of your boss. Now if you continue to make the same mistakes over and over, what do you think is going to happen? Your boss isnt going to remember that one day/week/month you had when you did your job right, hes going to focus on your mistakes that costed him time or money and hes going to make an example out of you. I dont know how many second chances you get in the real world, and Ted Ginn has been given a little too many this point. One good game winning catch does not a career make.
I didn't say keep him in to be our number one receiver. I said teams still have to respect his deep speed because he will catch the ball if he is open. And if there is no safety over top, he will be open. That is why he must continue to play. That, and benching him could just shatter his confidence, and he may never be able to recover. He needs to continue to play. There is still hope.
You never know, though. Demoting him could light a fire inside, and he may become the player we all expect him to be. Which is a 1,000+ big play receiver.
I know it bro. ITs gotten to a point where if Ginn is truly the best option we have at WR(at least as our #1), then were in trouble.
Hoped. You do make a valid point there, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, he may get a chip on his shoulder.
That's the key. He has to learn from this, and play harder. At this point, the benching is either going to make or break his career. If it breaks, then that proves that he is mentally weak, and needs to be replaced during the OF.
Could it happen? Sure. Will it? I doubt it. How many WRs after three seasons in the NFL turn out to be something special? How many players have we waited on and waited on to improve only to be dissapointed at a certain point? We went through this with Chambers, we all thought it was the QB play, but now hes has Rivers throwing it to him and hes not even the third option. I think LT has more catches than he does on there. We went through with McMichael. Hes now just another guy. The list goes on. I think Ronnie is a different situtation however, hes shown that hes a special player from day 1, his strugglers were combo of running behind a makeshift OL and not being blessed with good field vision from the backfield. But Ronnie also progressed year and year and this year he may well have entered Elite status. Ginn on the other hand appears to have regressed, and Im not sure if hell ever dig himself out of this hole. I just dont think he has it, and Im not sure if he even has the will to improve, Im not seeing the fire and determination, its not there. The talent is, but he doesnt seem to be taking advantage of it. Ted Ginn cannot play WR at this level at it stands right now.
It relates because the NFL is like the real world in some aspects. Just as in the real world, if it appears like the job you have just doesnt fit you, and its not working out at the moment, it most likely never will work out.
Depends, what's your definition of special? If any of the following players are considered special, let me know: Marvin Harrison Reggie Wayne Vincent Jackson Hines Ward Donald Driver Muhsin Muhammed Joe Horn Jimmy Smith Keenan McCardell Tim Brown Cris Carter Irving Fryar Michael Irvin Derrick Mason Andre Reed Art Monk
I don't believe that is the case at all. Plenty of people have struggles at jobs when they start, and want to quit or do something else. Doesn't mean it will never work out.
But that will change once teams figure out he isnt a catching threat, much like Dante Hall, Terrance Edwards, Terrance Wilkins, Yamon Figures, ect. Teams know how fast they are but whenever they lined up at WR they werent a concern for the defense because they knew they couldnt catch even if left open.
In all fairness, Ginn CAN catch when wide open. He's having some serious issues right now...but I don't think any team is going to totally disregard Ginn when he's on the field. Posted via Mobile Device
I'm talking about him catching the deep ball. They still have to respect that with him on the field. He has shown that he can catch it before.
Would you believe that Ted Ginn after not quite 2.5 seasons has more catches than the #4 all-time NFL receptions leader had after 4 seasons and only 8 less than the #3 all-time receptions leader had after 4 seasons?
When he's all alone and the ball is dropped gently into his arms.....he's a one trick pony destined to soon find himself in situational use only.
I just don't see how someone with a straight face can say he is not a catching threat when he has caught 100+ balls in 2.5 seasons.
Sadly he is the only deep threat we have, which is the only reason he's still here. He would not be a no.2 WR on any other team.
On other teams with pretty good WRs he likely wouldn't be. He might be #2 on: Cleveland Oakland KC I know it is sad, just illustrating how poor our WR situation is at the moment.
That's what you believe. But, from what I have seen, you are completely wrong. He is more than a deep threat.
No one is saying he cant catch the ball. What we are saying he is he seems to catch it when it doesnt count. He has one job: get open and catch. He isnt doing it.
Looks to me like some people are saying he can't catch it. I'd say he isn't doing his job well, not he isn't doing his job.
He isnt a threat. He can catch, but hes not dangerous. Teams know this. Its about context. At least you can agree he isnt doing his job well.
