Guys Reggie Torbor has been balling the last two weeks, I only saw the negative pass interference call today. Aside from that he has 15 tackles 3 assit and 1 Int. This is after one start and lot of reserve play. Im Miami and Torbor, Culver & Soliai are seeing extensive play.
torbor plays smart and as far as I'm concerned is better than Ayodele. Ayodle is as likely to hit the wrong hole as the right hole. Torbor's a bit slow but he plasy correctly. To me he's better than Ayedele but the jury is still out on Crowder.
I really like how he has played and our Defense has looked alot better since Torbor & Soliai have been seeing more time.
I love Crowder's intensity but he really doesn't make alot of plays. I'm impressed with Torbor making the best of his opportunity.
He had 4 tackles and 3 assists today hardly outstanding ...but when you compare him to"tweetle dee" and "tweetle dumb" then you may have a point I think we need 2 NEW inside LBs in the off season and we will have to see how Clemons turns out.
I think Crowder played better last season than he was given credit for but we definitely should be looking for an upgrade at ILB. Soliai was a beast today, he needs to see the field more. Oh, and what happened to Cameron Wake?!!!
Im astats guy so when you look at what Akin has done in seven & what Crowder has done in 6. Torbor sounds like an upgrade, also Crowder plays with huge intensity, but I have yet to see him cause a fumble or int. forget about sacks.
Torbor played awesome in the first half when pasqualoni was calling aggressive schemes.. Torbor was flying around to the ball, as was the whole defense. Then, in the 2nd half, that idiot Paul Pasqualoni called a soft vanilla style defense making everyone look bad.. Shades of Tom Olivadotti in the 2nd half. That is two weeks in a row now that he did it, and it almost killed us twice... It makes no sense to me why that idiot D-coordinator of ours changes a gameplan when it shows to be working to perfection.. If he had kept the gameplan we would have caused an additional turnover or two (as it looked like sanchez was about to throw an int soon), and the game wouldn't have been as close as it was. I hate our D-coordinator... he sucks balls and has no feel for the game. The great coaches have a great "feel" for the game.. And Pasqualoni has none of it.. He will always let the opposing team right back in it because of his sheer stupidity.
Facts do not back up your post. Let's take a look at what I can find on video. Go here: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...e1b6d/NFL-GameDay-Dolphins-vs-Jets-highlights Advance the video to 2:21 and keep it paused. It's the 3rd quarter and it's 4 and 10. There are five Dolphins on the line of scrimmage. They will all rush the quarterback. Now look at the linebacker on our left side (Ayodele). He will come on the rush too. The Jets have five linemen. No back will remain in the pocket to block the blitz. Now let's do some math. You are the defensive coordinator. You sent six men to rush and they only had five blockers. It's 4th and 10. You have single man on every single man out on a passing route. You know the rules in the NFL. It is virtually impossible to cover routes for more than 3.5 seconds. The rush had to get there. You didn't send 4 to the QB. You sent 6 to the QB. They converted 4th down. Now here is the question I pose to you. Are you making the call again? Now you do not have to go far. Just look at the next play. It's the same series. It's 2 and 7. There are five defensive men on the line of scrimmage. That means you left one extra man in the secondary. This is a man to man assignment with a single safety over the top. Nate Jones will take the TE upon his release. JT will either rush or cover based upon what the back will do. This means that the rush was overloaded to our right side. When the back releases the rush basically becomes four on five. So the question is.....What were you seeking to accomplish with the call? Well let's just go back and look at Chris Clemons at 2:35 in the video. You see Clemons. You see the CB on Braylon Edwards. There is no other receiver on that side of the field. You made a good call. Why do I say you made a good call? You rush the weak side limiting the vision to the receiver they wanted to get it to. You double covered the receiver they wanted to get it to. This was an offensive playcall design for Braylon Edwards. How do I know? Look at Sanchez. On his fifth step his eyes are on the receiver. He didn't look at the coverage. He threw into your double coverage. Nate Jones was singled up on Keller. Vontae Davis was singled up on the other wide receiver. Jason Taylor was singled up on the flair back. All logic says throw to one of those three. Sanchez throws into YOUR double coverage and they score. What are you going to do versus this play next time Mr. Defensive Coordinator? Let's continue looking at your "vanilla" second half. The next play we have is at 3:37. You see the six men within a yard of the line of scrimmage? They are all coming on the rush. If the TE releases you now have 6 rushing 5 blockers unless the backs stay in to block. That's alright. You'll take that matchup every time. Does the rush get there? No but you forced a quick pass. In the secondary you are playing quarter, quarter, half. It's a coverage which all defensive coordinators will tell you essentially leaves that farside corner (Smith) man on man with his receiver. It's a good call when you are blitzing. I like it even before I know the offensive playcall. You have your best man coverage corner in man and you have your best zone corner in zone. The TE releases. You have 6 now rushing 5. They rolled the protection to the weak side (Porter). That leaves Jason Taylor rushing against a back. Could you beg for a better matchup? What happens? The QB makes the right throw to the singled up receiver (Edwards) and they convert a 2nd and 8. Let's move on to the next play at 3:46. This time you rush 6 with the linebacker blitz. They hold the backs in to block. Again, you will take that matchup every time. You have 6 rushing 7 and you are forcing RBs to do something that they do not like to do - block. So what are you looking at in the secondary? You are looking at man on man with a single safety. Although every receiver has a favorable matchup, this becomes a simple assignment for the QB. It's the same man on man, single safety look he has seen since high school. Look the safety off to the left and then throw weakside right. What happens? They score with a TE on a strong safety matchup. So what's up at 4:21? It looks like you are going to rush five again but the back releases strongside and JT must cover him. So now you are rushing four. I did the countdown of what I can see and I know you have two safeties. I see your corners rolled up on the wide receivers. So now I know you are Cover 2 (man) or something very similar. This is a coverage call. Both corners can play very aggressive because they know they have help deep. What happens? A little comeback route and they convert 2nd and 6. ...........and this crap goes on and on and on. So what is the conclusion? How should I gauge YOUR defensive calls? Well in just a couple of highlights from NFL.COM I have seen you rush four, five, and six. I have seen you in a Cover 1,Cover 2, Cover 2 Man, and Quarter, Quarter, Half. Yet I have seen the opposition convert versus all of your calls. I like alot of your calls. They are anything but "vanilla". They gave you what seemed to me to be the right matchups. That means you scouted your opponent well. My question is........... WHEN WILL YOUR PLAYERS START MAKING PLAYS?
Roth is another alternative (Crowder stays) but we need to resolve the issue, along w/ NT (depth), TE & WR in the draft
That's all we have at NT, and Ferguson is old. We will absolutely have to have another NT next year, JF prolly won't play more than next year.
Disagree. Soliai is playing at a VERY high level and Ferguson is still playing well too. I think next year their roles will reverse and you'll see Fergy spelling Soliai. Big Paul was UNBLOCKABLE yesterday against a pro-bowl center. I don't think we realize how good of a sign this is for our future that we have found at long term solution at NT. It's damn near impossible to get a good one in the 4th round and IMO, we did. If there is one thing we can thank Cam Cameron for, it's drafting Paul Soliai.
speaking of Channing Crowder: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/miami-dolphins/story/1311533.html He and his girlfriend dresses as the Williams Sisters for halloween haha. He was Serena. There's a picture, it's great.
Fergie is dated, might play another year & then? need two brutal & talented NT's in the 3/4 to rotate the draft: ILB, NT, WR, TE not necessarily in that order
That 3.5 tackles per game that Crowder averages is so very impressive only second to Porter with his 2 tackles average per game
Zod brother ... nice run down ... it is all about execution, and our defense stops executing at halftime .... we just can not continue with JT / JP as our S-WOLBs for the rest of the season. secondary play needs to improve, but i will always maintain that our defensive woes rest squarely on the shoulders of our LB corps .....
