Aside from Peezy just not showing up, and against a rookie ... if they needed those comments to motivate them, that's pretty pathetic. I just can't believe that Brady's being truthful here. I think he's just jabbing back at Joey. Brady, nor his team, needs that to motivate them.

As much as I don't like any trash talking before or during a game (by anyone), and as much of a loudmouth as Porter is, generally speaking, I believe this is much to do about nothing. What did Porter say that was so motivating? That Brady has a way of influencing the refs? So what?! What's wrong with that? It's true!

If you ask me, this is more about Tommy Boy getting his post game digs in. OMG, I can't stand that SOB!

Of course, Porter getting totally shut down is another issue. WTF is up with that?!

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

Porter's mouth didn't motivate the Pat's to win, IMO, but it sure as Hell motivated them to shut down Joey...

Said it before: Joey Porter needs to STFU and make plays.

In this case he did the exact opposite.

On the balance, his "buncha-sacks" last year included, Porter's time in Miami has been an exercise in frustration because he disappears against good competitors and, like now, lets his mouth write a check that his level of play can't cash.

I find motivation likely when a big underdog comes up and finds a way to win. As if I'm to believe Brady needed Porter's words to motivate anyone. They didn't blow us out.

athletes that talk about and need extra motivation for a game is a joke. getting paid and being a professional is all the motivation they should need. It's their job to win.

I never understood the whole, if they needed that to motivate them comments and stuff. Its not like it gives you motivation you need, but it can give you more motivation. I know personally whenever I competed in anything I always had a huge drive to win, but if I was playing against somebody that was running their mouth I wanted to win, just a little bit more.

Trash talking is one of those things, sometimes it completely works, you can def throw your opponet off. They would have done anything yesterday to stop Joey, unfortunatly they didn't have to do much.

Jason Taylor needs to be playing on the weak side and Joey Porter needs to be on the bench. What he said is still true though. And I still hate Brady and the 'everybody disrespects us' media darling Patriots. They did cheat and they do make special rules for Brady. If you don't think that flag was thrown against Baltimore because Brady called for it then you're not paying attention. It was blatantly obvious that's what happened. Brady was hardly even touched. His own ex-teammate told him to man up. What did Tammy have to say about that?

I can't wait til they cut his butt. He is clearly not as good as his contract indicates.

I said it at draft time that they needed another bonefied pass rusher. I'm really glad they got Davis and Smith but next season they not only need an impact ILb, if not two but they're going to need to address the pass rush, or lack thereof. I know people are going to add Wr in it but I'd much rather get one that makes an immediate impact thru Free Agency.

This team has a nice solid core. They play tough but need to get some IMPACT players on both sides of the ball. Do that and they can compete for it all right away...

    Great post.

For all the plays that Pat White COULD make for us in coming years, when they drafted him and in doing so passed on available Defensive talent like Clint Sintim, Parcells and company forgot that most basic tenet at the core of football: Defense wins championships.

Now, next offseason we will have to somehow acquire 2 ILBs who can play well in all phases of the game, and at least one pass-rushing OLB.

We will HAVE TO, because we will then be in the crucial third year of Parcells' 3-year plan to rebuild the team, and with a solid D-Line rotation, two talented Rookie Corners and a promising FS in Clemons, that will be the weak area - and it is SEVERELY weak.

The Tri seems to have forgotten that the Linebackers are the heart of the 3-4, and we will have to pay dearly to remedy our deficiencies there unless we somehow manage to get 3 outstanding 'Backers in the first couple-three rounds.

As for WR: with a class as big, fast and as deep at the top as any I've ever seen, we whiffed on getting one playmaker that fits the mold of the wideouts they seem to prefer here, and that is also going to haunt us.

Why? Because great teams have something that good teams don't: DEPTH.

And we will be starting from scratch at LB in the next couple years with Porter and Taylor gone, and will have to not only acquire starters but quality depth as well.

And that, if not the acquisition of starters at LB and WR, should have been the goal of the Tri this past offseason.

At WR they may have accomplished it with Hartline and Turner; but on Defense, our offseason was almost a total disaster with the signings of Eric Green and Gibril Wilson our prizes coming into camp, no upgrades at Linebacker and - thankfully - Smith, Davis and Clemons in the Secondary.

All this about the things Joey said, needing to be said is BS......he didn't say a thing that wasn't common knowledge. Nothing new or anything that hasn't been plastered all over the internet and on TV.

He's a weak minded attention seeker that the media is all too willing to accommodate. They know all they have to do is pull his string and his big mouth will come alive.

Personally he makes me sick and the faster he's off this team and I no longer have to look at him, the better. As a person he's trash.....as a football player he's pretty much on empty.

You have to give them credit though for drafting cornerbacks that will be very good for us in the future. That's a pretty important position as well. Neglecting linebacker was a problem however. Bringing JT back I think was still a good idea. He's on pace for double digit sacks. I'll take that any day if I'm a GM.

They don't need them. But it helps.

Players are always trying to find something to give them that edge during the week. Lots of the all time greats are/were known to invent things to get that motivational fire hot.

You give them something that they can dig deep for when they think they just can't go on anymore.

It's handing the opponent yet another weapon.

After the game I thought I heard Porter say "no one makes me bleed my own blood" but I could be wrong.... :wink2:

long and short of it is that Porter is done, Wake needs to see the field way more then he is.... granted I trust Sparano when he says Wake has some issues he needs to clean up.

The Patriots were going to beat us no matter what Joey said. But it probably didn't help. We'll get 'em at home.

yea, in the olden days JT would've sent two hookers and a gallon of hooch to Brady's hotel room the night before the game.

    motivate a hangover

I really do not know if it has been said, but if the Patsy where motivated for that game and that was the best they could do then I really am not frightend by them.

I don't know. Aside from supposedly drawing motivation from his words, I just don't think that what he said had any "motivational value". Meaning, I'm with those that just don't think that what Joey said was trash talking at all.

Another example is if he said, "Well they got one more second to kick a field goal. That's the home field scoreboard operator." That to me isn't talking smack. It may be opinion and/or wrong, but it's not smack.
