Just had a really nasty pop come from the site. It was for some virus scanner program. It redirected me from the forums. Not sure who to contact or where but wanted to bring it up to someone.

It could be a virus/malware that is already on your computer, I would suggest running a virus scan to make sure that your computer is clean. If you don't have an anti-virus program because the free trial expired or you haven't updated it in quite a while, try one of these free programs and scan your whole computer for issues.

I would suggest installing them and then restarting your computer in safe mode, then seeing if the problem persists.

If you run the scans and the computer doesn't detect anything and this happens again, please take a screenshot of it so we can see exactly what it says. To take a screenshot, hit the PrtSc button and then paste it into microsoft paint and post it here.

I had a similar issue not too long ago, it was a nasty trojan that was very hard to get rid of. It was called Microsoft System Defender that shut down my virus programs and tried to look like official Microsoft software.

Check your programs folder to see if anything installed itself under Windows System Defender. Go to Start - All Programs - and then scroll down the list. That's where it was hiding on my computer.

Also make sure that you update your anti-virus programs at least once a week or they will quickly become outdated. Sometimes viruses can hide on you if you don't run the scan in safe mode, so I would suggest doing so if you haven't already.

That's about as much info I can give you, an admin will weigh in shortly on the topic. :)

    You did the right thing.

We take the ads very seriously and there should never be popups or anything obnoxious or malicious on our site.

Unfortunately, if something bad did get into our ad stream, we'd need more information in order to investigate (the information Norton provided you, a screenshot, etc.). The more info the better.

Brother I had Norton, and there was stuff getting through to my computer that shouldn't have. I highly recommend AVG.:wink2:
