...Right after the Aiken TD, when JT had his hands on Sean Smith's shoulders reassuring the rookie with a smile? He was like a father figure, and it was really good to see that on the sidelines. Did anyone else almost get a lump in their throat? The first time that I can remember seeing something like that. NEVER seen a veteran console a rookie the way JT did yesterday. For that 2 seconds, being down almost two TDs, I kinda felt reassured my-self. There was still a lot of football to be played, and as a fan, that moment kept me watching the rest of the way. For two seconds I gained faith in that defence. It was as if Taylor himself were assuring everyone that "everything's gonna be alright". I mean, what JT means to this franchise can't be gauged by any sort of statistic. Credit to jdang307
Great point to bring up. It was very reassuring, I think Porter was also talking to him for a bit it was like everyone was there around him saying, "You did what you needed to do, it was just a great catch." The funny thing I thought was the commentators when they saw that they mentioned that it was simply a great catch and he was there giving great coverage. I feel it comes back to what Sparano says to the guys in those locker room videos, "your a bunch of very mentally strong guys!" they came back through a lot yesterday and pulled it off, the whole team did. I know its about the score in the end, but I felt we played harder and we deserved that win. I will get off my soap box before I shed a tear...
That's where JT's value is more than his on the field production. by the way I think it's absolute crap that if the roles had been reversed and Smith had gone over the back like that he would have been flagged.
That was one of the bright spots of the game for me too. That is why I hope and it is important to resign him next year for at least another year. He can still play and provides experience and guidance like a mentor for our younger players.
"You know what this is? A wing, and you are under it. All three of you, right there." -Drillbit Taylor (Jason Taylor) It actually works perfect. LOL
Googled it. Funny that it wasn't even from the same game lol. Anybody find it yet? If I could, I'd keep JT and Pennington here as long as possible.
Unfortunately, Penny won't be back....not even as a backup. JT ver well could be as a complete and total Role-player position, and obviously as a mentor. That is indeed something Tuna has always put big value on.
They should create a spot for Pennington. Assistant to the assistant QB Coach... You get my drfit they should create a title just for him. He prob likes Miami way better than LI.
Yep, that was a pretty cool moment. I got the impression that Taylor was telling Smith to keep his head up. Smith looked like he was taking the play pretty hard, so it was good to see someone who has been through these situations before bringing some perspective to the young guy. It's wierd, but I was reminded of those great games against the Bills, when Bruce Smith would beat his man (or the double team) and get <this> close to sacking Marino, but Dan would get the ball out a moment before Bruce got to him. Bruce's frustration must have been through the roof. Sometimes, no matter how good you play it, the other guy just makes a better play. Keep your head up, Sean. Work hard. Good things are coming your way.
They weren't even wearing those unis yesterday. That picture is from the second Jets game I believe. Or maybe preseason? But I thought Smith didn't change his number until week 1.
His leadership is priceless and im glad he is a dolphin once again. The last few weeks he hasnt been producing quite the way he did in the begining of the season but he surely has been helpful to our team this season.
I didn't shed any tears. I just know JT is a good man and player and this was something that didn't surprise me at all. I pray he's back next year. He's good for this team. (and me. )
I saw the momment you were talking about, JT has his hands, one on each of smiths shoulders and was giving him a little pep talk. It sure was nice to see, and you are right, the value JT brings back to this team in the way of leadership is more valuable than anything/anyone on this team I think, especially with the amount of young players we have starting in vital roles. I've seen JT talkin to Henne at times too after some INT's. As for the picture, as has been pointed out, that was from I believe the second Jets game. The momment you speak of from yesterday though, I haven't seen turn up in any pictures available on the web from yesterdays game. Sorry!

I did see that moment also, it was great. Wish they would have given JT a bit more cash for his value to return a Dolphin. He has always been a upstanding player.
Yeah, I saw it and thought it was great. Dan Marino's father would always tell Dan not to let 1 play or 1 game define what type of player you were. Players will make mistakes and get burned from time to time, but don't let it affect the type of player you are or can be. This win was an excellent win and a great learning curve. d-1
No doubt Miss Debby its good for you that he is back. That's your boy!! I think he will be back next year. He is such an impact player. He has to play one more year
