1 Gibril Wilson- This is obvious. need any more proof he he dropped an INT that a 6 year old girl would have caught. 2 Dan Henning- The crypt keeper needs to go. 3 Soliai- We need a young NT and he just wont get it done. And these referees in this game. "Refs you suck" chants are making me smile though. We got screwed out of a fumble and that long Ginn TD
I think if we get a true #1 WR, Ginn needs to stay. What he can do with his speed, if we have a big threat at WR too would be huge for our offense. If thats the plan, I'd have him in Miami all offseason, spending 8 hours a day catching passes though
Paul Pasqualoni Akin Ayodele Either Gibril Wilson or Yeremiah Bell - if it's Bell, then Wilson plays SS next year. Joey Porter Jason Taylor
He's due a $14M roster bonus in March. He had an awful start to the beginning of the year and can't cover tight ends. He at least needs to be restructured.
I don't think that Ginn should be gone. He had a rough first half, but he's played pretty damn good the last four or five games. As a whole, his NFL career says to me that he should stay. I don't think it's fair to judge any player, even Ginn, on one season. Posted via Mobile Device
2 out of the following 4 : Akin Ayodele, Channing Crowder, Joey Porter, Jason Taylor (I dont care which two, three or four are gone but at least two have to be replaced) Gibril Wilson or Yeremiah Bell. The more expensive has to go
i think losing crowder in the game hurt us.. guy might not flash but at least he can tackle on the inside. you slide him over to play run stuffer get yourself a stud ILB to play along side him who can do the FUM/INT thing and we're good (not great) inside. you get yourself a SOLB and move one of three (porter/taylor/wake) to the other side.. get a TE because that will help henne tremendously.. then get a WR somewhere
We have two strong safeties, Bell is older... IMO he should go and Wilson should stay as our starting strong safety.
get out of my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 although I would get a pass rusher linebacker too. There are a couple available in this years draft and I wouyld just overhaul the whole damn crew if the opportunity presents itself
Agreed. I'm glad you and adamprez are in the same mindframe with this thought. I remember reading somewhere that Bell was due a $14M roster bonus this year - I think he'll be the odd man out.
wake can stay as a pass rushing OLB, but all the rest of our current LBs can go .... if you want to give a sympathy vote to JT, then that's fine too - as long as he isn't a starter. maybe Anderson and Moses can stay on as back-ups .... but we really need 4 new starters .............. we get good LBs, then our Ss won't have to shoulder the load on tackles, then maybe they could do a better job in coverage -- i cut them slack right now, because they are required to cover TEs and run support. Soliai is going to be pretty good, is he a Ferguson type of 'body', no - he isn't .... he is more of a Sapp type player ... we can find a place for him on our roster. Pasqualoni gets a bye this year as well - since he is forced to cover up our LBs every week. Get him some LBs, and this defense gets very good, very quickly ....... we should be screaming at the FO -- as we knew what the situation was with LB, and yet we did nothing to improve -- and used JT as our fall back option. JT has played well, don't get me wrong .... but he is not what we needed.
Bell has to go, not Wilson. Wilson looks worse than Bell because he is playing FS, not SS. I guarantee you Wilson can play SS better than Bell can. Not a knock on Bell, just saying I think Wilson is a better player. Plus he is younger. Porter, Ayodele, and Taylor need to do. Porter and Taylor are getting up there in age, and Akin isn't very good. Last, Camarillo probably has to go. We have his replacemant in Hartline. Now, the question is, who do we replace these players with?
CK's mentioned this a few times, but giving Shawne Merriman one of those short-term, incentive-laiden contracts to play SOLB might not be a bad idea. Obviously he's got some injury concerns, but IIRC Parcells wanted to draft him over DeMarcus Ware in 2005.
After Today's game, can we please end the "Get us a playmaker WR before defense" stuff. That defensive performance that allowed Houston to get what, 24 unanswered points, was god awful. Granted the offense wasn't getting it together, but you cannot expect many offenses to churn out 4 straight TD scoring drives to counteract the opposing offense when it does it. Yes, they played great at the end of the game, but at that point our hand was forced, and they put the offense in a horrible spot, which ultimately dictated how we had to play the game (mostly in the air). I'd be totally OK if that entire Linebacking corps, was revamped, we gave some other people a shot at safety against Pitt, and just looked at other places we can build up the defense. The fact that the offense was able to rally and put up 20 is a good sign, they've been pretty consistent in getting us in the 20+ range most games, and I really think that's a fair thing to ask from them week in and week out. Don't get me wrong, I still think we need a #1 Receiver, but I wouldn't put that pickup above really anything on the defensive side of the ball now. I can't look at one position on the defense that is truly solid. I'm hoping that is because Davis and Smith are rookies this year, and the inconsistency was due to that. They've been doing alright for the most part though, and ironically, as rookies, are probably playing some of the best ball on that side. Frustrating, hopefully Parcells can work some magic next year
I would love to take a chance on Merriman. Play him at SOLB, as he's shown he can drop back, stop the run and rush the passer. Draft Mcclain/Spikes to replace Akin, and you have yourself a very, very good group of linebackers. I also wouldn't mind drafting Greg Hardy in the second round if he drops.
Agreed 100%. Sign Antonio Bryant or Chris Chambers for a one or two year deal... focus on defense and maybe draft a receiver in the later rounds and give Turner competition. Our defense is just awful...
Been saying for weeks that Henning needs to go. 3rd and 1 two times, and both times its a pass?!!! Incomplete. Punt. The play calling in this game was ridiculously bad. He seriously needs to go.
I'll have to use adamprez's line for this, but get out of my head. I think that scenario would be outstanding - whether it happens or not remains to be seen, but it would be ideal.
JT should stay. You need that veteran. He played too much this season he needs to play less, they need another good young backup.
Get rid of Bell or Wilson, Torbor or Adoyle? and get a new FS and ILB Porter needs to go. Slide Taylor back to his old spot and get a new SOLB Sign a new wr FA Draft a new NT to develop
1 more solid draft and we're in it to win it Biotches!!! Although this year's team fell short of the playoffs, you have to admit this is a pretty dramatic turnaround.
great post. i really think if we get the linebacker situation fixed the secondary and defensive line will look alot better. we need a disruptive demarcus ware type, and a playmaker ILB who can blitz and cover TEs and RBs when needed. If we get those two our defense will instantly become top five. the synergy of those upgrades will trickle down through the rest of the defense. WR is a luxury at this point. Our QB was a rookie and our RB got injured and we have two rookie receivers wo should both be better next year
IMO, Spikes is the perfect ILB for Miami. Btw, f*ck the Texans for having Cushing. He's such a good player.
Cushing is outstanding. He's going to be really good for a really long time. I'm anxious to watch Spikes when they play UC in the Sugar Bowl. An old high school teammate of mine will be playing for UC - hard to believe he'll be on the field with all that talent that Florida has. I'd take either Spikes or McClain, and as you mentioned before, if you can somehow get a talent like Greg Hardy if he falls, then you're cooking with gas.
Everybody chill. We don't have a single legitimate superstar. We are a mediocre to good football team despite having mostly mediocre to bad players. Henning runs what he thinks those players can execute. Get better players and give the young players another preseason and season to develop and there's no reason why we can't be a good to very good team next year.
Soliai is a must keep, iyam. I think he has a huge upside of potential in a rotation and can be very good if we get Wilfork.
No way Bell stays for a $14 mil bonus. Wilson has killed us many times, but is definitely a SS and has also had to help two rookie CB's and help out in TE coverage because our LB's CAN'T cover any type of receiver.... Henning needs to stay...c'mon everyone...this guy was one of the key reasons we were AFC Champs last year. He definitely deserves a 'pass' working with a young QB forced into action due to an injury to the starter, losing our top (and one of the NFL top) RB, and a key contributor in Cobbs plus not having a #1 WR and still we have been playing 'meaningful' games in December. The defense was woeful in the first half today, but a #1 WR is still a MUST more than any other position....that makes Henne better, Ginn better, Bess and Hartline (agree Camarillo is gone) facing nickel backs instead of #1 or 2 CB's....and keeps the defense off the field. IF we had a #1 WR think how much better we would be. Beyond any 'need', the most important off season need is locking up Brown to a long term deal.... Henne is learning on the fly, and is very impressive. The NFL game will continue to 'slow down' for him and 2010 will be exciting.
Bonamego is ST coach right? besides our returns being questionable for the majority of the season our ST has improved a decent bit since last year IMO. I like Nate Jones as a role guy.. and I think we missed Crowder this game as I said earlier, but not as a #1 ILB, which is why I think we need a stud. Agreed about upgrading Torbor/Ayodele. Fasano is in a contract year and I don't think he'll be asked to return. Wilson may not get the axe because of his contract. Depending on who costs more I could see letting that guy go and keeping (or sliding Wilson over) to SS and us letting Clemons start every game or drafting another one depending. JMO.
- The entire coaching staff. Yeah, I said it. Sue me. - Gibril Wilson AND Yeremiah Bell, although I love Bell. That bonus is huge and he's not worth it. - Channing Crowder or Akin Ayodele - Jason Taylor or Joey Porter - Nah, forget it: EVERY linebacker not named Cameron Wake (if you consider him one) - Anthony Fasano - Hate to say it but probably Camarillo to make room for a big time #1 WR. Ginn and his speed must stay. Don't care what anyone says!
Why do you want the ST coach gone? He's done a great job. I'd keep Nate Jones, Crowder and Fasano around.
