When I watch the games I notice that other teams have their IR players roaming the sidelines. However, I notice that our injured guys are nowhere to be found. I remember there being an article or a policy a few months back but don't know the gist of it. Does Parcells allowed injured players that don't dress to be on the sideline during a game?
Sparano has mentioned in many a press conference how team policy is not to have injured players on the sideline It was brought up many times this season.. our reporters are stupid asking him the same question over and over again since the Penny injury... and sparano always gives them the same blunt answer.
It's team by team I think. Some allow them to come others just tell them not to fly out or come down.
F.O. answered it above, but I wanted to add that I'm not sure if it's the best policy. I see some advantages in it motivating players to get back so they can be on the field but there's a cost. I have to think that it could have been helpful Henne to be able to talk with CP on the sidelines during games for example.
I agree, Penny would have been a huge help for Henne on the sideline. Big mistake, they should have at the very least made an exception and allowed Henne's mentor on the sidedline.
Sparano said something like he'd like CP to be there, but he couldn't make the exception. If he did he'd have to let all injured players be there. I sometimes think it would be good if the injured players could be there for moral support.
I Watched that press conference. I just think he should have made an exception for Penny, after all he's the guy you brought in to help mentor your young QB. It seemed clear to me that there were several occasions where having penny on the sidelines would have helped settle Henne down.
I agree. Henne said he wouldn't mind either. There are times when exceptions should be made in most situations.
