The game thread is a joke. People are mocking Pat White for his injury. This site is supposed to have a family type of atmosphere and the mods have done an excellent job of that. I hope the game thread is reviewed and permanent bans are made on these pathetic people. Disgusting. :pity:

My prayers to you Mr. White for a fast and quick recovery.

I'll probably be one of them for starting with the people who are being completely classless about it.

I wont take back a single thing I said to anyone, they really made/make me sick with those comments. And I'm very angry at them right now.

A thinning of the immature HERD on this site would be a blessing for sure!

    Doubt it will happen however.....

He tried to make a play for all of the classless fans booing him, wishing we never took him, trash talking him. And took a DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY hit to the head helmet to helmet lowering his head trying to pick up a first down.

The Steelers defense is always made of up dirty players. I hate them, it has NO PLACE in football.

A recent discussion in Club level brought up issues of the level and caliber of posting and posters in club, and this site. I think this sort of issue, while in the mains, must be addressed if we truly want to be a better class of fan here, and have good character.

Otherwise, it becomes something I cannot be proud of instead of a meaningful community with integrity.

I don;t know about outright banning, but something must be done. Something strong, not a 'talking to'.

Unfortunately the bigger the site gets the more morons its likely to attract - as the season has progressed it's certainly seems that way. I always avoid the gameday thread so I don't get into pointless arguments that mostly stem from frustration.

You can be mad about the classless posting about White, but you need to let go of the dirty hit stuff. It's football, man.

Not to derail the topic, but the Steelers proved their classiness in that exchange with White. They gained an admirer today in this fan.

no I agree with you there. I was just saying that we don't have the numbers they do over there. Not saying what they were posting was right, but I would probably post a whole lot less if I felt like everything I was typing was being scrutinized. It's what makes this site "fun" to be on. Freedom to post intelligently and with out censorship.

Its not censorship to ask for the LEVEL of debate to raise itself up out of the gutter of emotion.

We aren't saying negative posts or negative opinions do not have a valid place in this SITE....its the emotion only posts that do nothing raise the level of discussion of what FACTUALLY is happening and what can be clearly stated as a CRITIQUE over a pure emotional criticism.

There is a clear difference, and this sites strives for the negative or positive CRITIQUE vs. simple a positive rah rah post, any more than a NEGATIVE emotion only CRITICISM post.

thats all.....both sides of debate are welcome, lets discuss is rationally

Not to mention White's head only got to that level because he got tripped up from behind, he wasn't lowering his head for a FD anymore than Taylor was trying to hit him in the head/leading with his head.

Using your helmet as a weapon became clean?

Even if White lowered himself, it doesnt change the fact that Taylor led with his helmet.

Did he mean to do that to Pat White? Of course not.

Did he lead with his helmet? Yes. Is that dirty? Yes.

Who knows if he meant to lead with his helmet or not, but that doesnt change the fact that its a dirty hit.

As a new poster to this forum, I've gotta wonder what you really mean here. Here's my experience so far:

    1. I posted that I thought we should keep Bell over Wilson and was called a liar.
    2. I posted that I think Henne should be benched in the second have of the game (in retrospect it looks like the coaching staff felt the same way) and was call all kinds of names. When I tried to defend my point of view I was told I was insulting people.

In both cases few people if anyone were big on specifics, but I certainly saw a lot more generic put downs ranging from calling ideas stupid to decreasing the rating of a thread.

So my sum opinion on my first week at thephins.com is not a very friendly place. I find myself wondering that if I do make a sensible, well thought out post that isn't a popular idea, that I just have to take insults or be banned.

Seems like a mob rules mentality to me.

Sick, he's hitting White in the chest with his helmet regardless.

He was leading with the helmet, which to me, is a dirty play.

Yeah, i've been watching the replay and I don't see anything a whole lot different than I see typically in a tackle. It just so happened that it ended up badly today. God speed to pat but this is football, and that sort of thing will happen. I was up in arms with that chambers hit a few years ago but this just seemed like football. Sad though.

I dont care for Pat WHite as a football player.... I think he was a horrible pick BUT I would never mock him for getting hurt while playing football. That is just nuts.

For that matter, I wouldnt wish any player injury.... (except if you play for the Jets, Bills or Pats but that is a whole different story)

The game thread is the virtual equivalent of the reason why I'm skipping the sports bar and going back to getting a dish again. Anyway, it's not like I've had "cr@p thrown at me" in this forum (On another forum, I received for a reply a picture of poop...literally!)

Taylor did not lead with his helmet. If you watch the replay there was a defender and a blocker in between the two players. They both sort of popped around the obstruction and collided. And Ike Taylor was not leading with the helmet. By nature your head sticks out further (obviously) but he was looking to make the ht with his shoulder.

There are some here that do that to others. Those you have to learn who they are and not engage them. Even if they post stuff to antagonize you you have to leave it alone and move on. It is frustrating at times but there are several guys on here that will respect your opinion as long as you expect theirs and not do that to you, reciprocating is the only requirement. Just be prepared to back up what you think with facts and over time you will fit into the site just fine. It's like that no matter where you go. The core of guys and gals that are here are top notch:up:

The Mods aren't that bad either.......except that old guy in Cali:up:

    The fact is to me:

When you lead with the helmet that is dirty, because a player CAN trip and take that blow to the head. You are putting yourself and the other player into a situation where and slip, trip, or whatever can put you in a very dangerous spot. I don't care if he would have hit him in the chest....leading with the helmet has no place in football. Anywhere teh foot lands from head to toe.

My feeling is ttmorrow, once you've cooled off and maybe seen the replay a few more times, you'll realize that play was just two guys playing football.
Don't know if you've ever played football or not, but if you have you should know that.

I don't know about Taylor, but when you're on the sideline like that its pretty easy to get your shoulder pad out in front of your head. You come in sideways.
