First off i'd like to say I know we all hope that Pats ok, and to make this comment, I read every post in the game thread, like a lot of you, what I saw was a complete misunderstanding of people that had anger for the staff for drafting the kid in the first place and allowing him to play with such a slight frame in the proset, for fear of him getting hurt, some words got misconstrued, and some interpreted that as complete disrespect... I dont believe there was malicious intent,So imo, dont believe the BS you might hear. That was a fun game thread.

Please dont take the title the wrong way, I wanted that game bad, I was torn in the beginning, but our team won me over with about 10 minutes of inspired play ,that was just riveting to watch. That was the most excited and loudest, ive seen our fans, in that stadium. {damn team kept fightin man}.. I think 'Adamprez' captured the excitement with the immortal words..OMG!!!!!I LOVE YOU ALL!!!......funny.

Do we have to root for the jets to get a better draft pick??

Chad Henne was money today..what an impressive first year QB we have, imo, like a lot of you, I know we got our franchise QB, really nice first half showing, in that he can learn to train that gun he has attached to his shoulder, his short game was accurate with catchable balls, looked excellent playing against the champs defense....2 bad throws in 30 minutes..none of the sacks were on him, plus he protected the football on some open pressure's...another thing he's shown to get better at during the year..

Maybe he can pick up some tips from "Thiggly wiggly' in the running dept, lol

The perfect loss allowed us to see the this cat play, and we now know he can, he moves well, {shout out to ones that called that one}, he thinks thru traffic smoothly, deceptive arm, can scramble and run, but will make some mental errors, its all good though man, he should be good to go as our #2..I don't think i'll see many folks clamoring for an open competition with henne, and imho, not worth the time to debate.

Love to see Henne Get a little bigger and stronger, while keeping that beautiful delivery and motion. I hope he lives in the gym..

I think our 3 year plan should be looked at as a 4 year plan...just something iam going to keep in mind with my own expectations.

Which side are you on after that game, when it come to Aquiring an inordinate amount of defensive linebackers..The OBoyz {offense} or the Dboyz {defense}?..lol

Pat white...well, i think i was one of the few that continued to lobbly for his play, however, If you read closely at what some of us were on the record for saying over the year, you would find that some folks including myself, said that while we like the pick, said, that "he will not make it as a traditional proset QB"....From the get, I did not understand why they were adimate as to shoot down the idea that he was drafted for the wildcat x position, instead, choosing to train the QB in a more traditional sense, for the back qb role...I believe that was a mistake, that time should of been spent grooming the player strictly to the wildcat formation, and some x factor roles.

Ted Ginn, did'nt particularly have a decent game imo, i think he caught 3 balls, one double clutching it, the others of little impact, his returns were average, and it looked as though he fumbled on that one return....I'll take Mardy Gilliard in the 2nd and look to trade ginn..the perfect loss also moved us up in the 2nd.

Ricky williams...he ran hard today and looked quick, and powerful, see ya next year you blackdemon black visor ninja mother grabber!!

Akin Adell....In the immortal words of the song by the band Incubus.."GOODBYYYYYYE, NICE TO KNOW YA", seriously, i wish him and his family well, i know he wants to get into broadcasting, so he can take the hit.

Kendall Langford had his best game of the year...check.

Randy Starks...at that point and time, for what it was worth, just measuring our excitement, it was the biggest defensive play of the year. It showed a player reaching a level that does'nt usually happen around here, especially when the crowd was built up to their highest point..., that was exciting stuff, stuff that the rest of the NFL will remember us by all offseason, as our identity has been created...respect the code for that one.

Sexy Lexy looks like a bigger Patrick Cobbs, like the way he catches the football on the run.... good 3rd string running back..

LOUUUUUUUSAKAAAAAAAAAAAAAA......That boy fought his *** off at the end of that game.. Wonder how he is in the leadership dept.? cause he sure as hell showed some at the end of that game....check.

Brian Hartline..That kids got some malibu's most wanted swagger goin on, Like the way he gets up after a catch, adjusts himself and keeps walkin, thats swagger, and iam diggin it.... true dolphin..check.

Iam not on the Keep wilson and get rid of Bell wagon, i did'nt get to see who clemons was playin for at the end of the game?

Jay Ratcliff is a beast of a man...7 rd pick by the regime, Anthony spencer, coming into his own....makes me feel good about looking for the best linebacker in the draft, and matching that player up against Dez, which way do you go?...

Bronco's down by 10...along with looking into the whole Marshall situation {another thread} ive heard there are some rumblings about eddie Royal and his happiness, I'll take royal and trade ginn in a second.

Pending on what were gonna do with Ronnie, I think Jonathan Dwyer has to be on the board If he declares.. If it were me,I would sign ronnie and not look back.

Iam not sure who still agrees with me, but iam excited about Ronnie and Henne operating the hybrid system next year.

I wonder how many reps Thigpen got this week, to come in and play like that was pretty smooth..

Chris johnson for 2000...and goin home..Future AFC challenger imo.

Cam wake beat that double team cleanly on that holding call, now thats a formation, the 38, let that boy bring the heat and drop 8.lol.

What to do with Joey Porter...its a tough one no matter how you spin it.

Jason Taylor, seeing Him run 40 yards down the field trailing a tight end is pretty funny, he has excellent posture when he runs ..Not sure about a defense thats puts that kind of player in that type of situation knowing the players athleticism.

No more what if's for me on the season, its time to get to work and have some real fun, The combine..

Peace ya'll, have a good new year..

P.s..shout out to all the people who make this site the best.:knucks:

Thank you, great read and post. I can not wait until the offseason, there are plenty of question marks to be addressed. I especially can't wait until free agency,I am interested to see how things turn out.

I just hope the league gets their "stuff" together. An uncapped year/uncapped future could spell doom for this sport. We could be facing a strike and much much worse.
And I share your optimism for the Dolphin's future. Just hoping the game itself makes it through the tough near future.

You are a good example of why this site is different, I think when you got here you had to battle some that had a false perception that the image of your avatar and your name may of created, you know, normal stuff, anyways, I know iam not the only one who watched you go thru a few battles, and how you handled some things with respect and some patience......Now, you got the easiest nickname on the site.."Killer" or as i probably will refer to you as, Killer P, unless you prefer just Strait "Killer" of course,

good stuff DJ. Weird as it sounds I'm almost relieved the season is over. I think we all knew we had no shot in the playoffs with our ever depleting roster being held together by duct tape but none of us had the stones to put Lassie to sleep. Now that Lassie is dead we can concentrate on 2010 and Ive gotta tell ya, if we do this offseason right and get some luck with injuries next year we arent just going to the playoffs we are going to be a threat to go to the Super Bowl. Probably wont but we should win one or two playoff games.

We really have to address and fix one and only one unit - the linebackers. That is the only unit that is consistently underproducing. Doesnt mean we cant upgrade other positions like WR, TE, ROT, NT. FS but with the exception of the rookie secondary, which should be much improved next year, all of the positions that can be upgraded are producing.

As much as we all want better receivers, we must remember that the system doesnt require them as the three recent 300 yd games will attest too. As much as Carey was a liability this year, there is no reason to think he wont be better next year. If Ferguson is back do we need another NT this year? I bring all of this up not because I expect us to ignore these positions but rather becauxse we wont be able to address every position and if we skip over one or two upgrades, there is no reason to get upset other than linebacker which quite frankly is simply broken. Everyone knows they can attack our linebackers. Whether its two pickups or four we need an overhaul. the exciting thing is we arguably have the best evaluators of 3-4 linebackers in the league. If we cant put together some monsters back there then Al Queda has won

    You can't be serious, adam?

Those 300 yd games were the result of us being in shootouts and it's a testament to Henne and nothing more that he could even get that much given the rag tag bunch of WR's we have.

LB's are easier to come by than play making WR's........that's why WR takes priority.

Besides......a ball hawking safety would do more for this defense than a LB anyway.

That's extremely debatable. I've watched our linebackers miss tackles, take poor angles, get blown away on blocks, and be absolutely dreadful in coverage. I'd like to get a big time WR but to be honest I've seen enough out of the current group to be ok with them as long as we upgrade in other areas. Linebacker mainly.

so what were you looking for from our receivers in those games? 400 yds? 500 yds? how many more yards are we getting with randy moss? when was the last time our passing game was shut down?

we have a president who's two super bowl teams had receiving groups that had Mark Ingram as probably the star of both groups. Phil McConkey, Stacy Robinson, Odessa Turner, Stephen Baker, etc

we have a GM who likes to draft WRs in mid to late rounds

we have a linebacking crew that couldnt cover a boiling pot of water

not saying we cant take a shot or two and try to upgrade the receiving position, just saying its not as critical as getting some LBs and we shouldnt be upset if we pass on upgrading the position in favor of NT or FS or OL or RB

Great post man. Agree with everything, except for the Gibril Wilson statemant. I'm on that bandwagon, lol.

Also, I'm with Adamp. Complete overhaul in the LB department. The Linebackers are much more of a liability for this team that our receivers are.

We scored 360 points this year. 22.5 a game. For a team that is supposed to be tough and defense oriented...thats holding thier end of the bargain. we dont even need an elite WR, we just need some GOOD ones, with SOME play making ability. this team did manage to move the ball and score, all season long.

if we have to point the finger, you gotta point it at the defense. now thats not to say things would've been different with gamers like will allen and fergy back there, two lynch pins. but we still need massive help, and when it comes draft time, you gotta take a rolando mclain if he falls in your lap. experience, smarts and skill-wise...its about as safe as our jake long pick. we all KNEW he would start and be good. pro-bowler, not necessarily...but good for a long time to come.

i agree with jetssuck to a point though, about the rarity of playmaking WRs. but with a 12th pick in the draft, we cant risk it on a WR, unless he's calvin johnson. we need a guy that WE KNOW, will come in and produce. rookie WRs scare the poop outta me.

our ILBs arent playmakers...and akin and torber are just not that good. they just cant play the game well enough for our defense to be good while they are on the field. charlie anderson is a real nice olb to have in rotation. he played well for porter often.
JT played awesome today. i think he'll have another very solid year next year. but we need a stud in the middle desperately. a stud ILB helps our entire defense. will allen back will even help our safety play. lets not forget, we had a rather young/dumb secondary this year. a cerebral player back there would've made a huge difference with these young, athletic guys. bell and gibril arent that type of vets either.

Well if we do as some of you suggest, don't be *****ing when Henne doesn't show much improvement. This team is dying for better targets for him.....and unless we get them, he'll be forced into trying too hard with what he has and continue to throw more picks than TD's.

Oh and as far as ILB's......they're not core players and you don't draft them very high unless it's a slam dunk blue chipper that you think might make the Pro Bowl every year.

JS, we have a couple players in the whole unit that i trust has the atleticism to make a legitimate open field tackle on a scat back, and none of them are starters. Reggie Torbor leading the way in that dept..

The great linebacking units in our league have 2 to 3 players that have first round grade, steelers, cowboys, ravens.... we have zero..Its time to make a serious move, i might even sacrifice a little value and progression on offense doing so, or, if the best linebacker does'nt grade out at #11, were in a good situation to trade down somewhat, and get an extra pick.....

CJ spiller, Dez Bryant, Gresham{see how he tests at the combine} and Jon dwyer {if he declares} are the only offensive players i see thus far that present value to us at #11, and thats only if theres uncertainty when it come to Resigning Ronnie, If he is signed, those two backs come off the board for me, and i'am left with Dez, then I see how he matches up against the best linebacker available at #11...

no doubt. we got to get henne some solid WRs, a solid WR. TEs too. id like to know the deal with patrick turner. thats infuriating. with that high a pick, the guy cant see the field all season long? how bout an explanation coach?! what a costly waste of a high pick. :pity:

I think we need both WR and LB, badly. I dont know if I would put up one over the other in terms of need, but I think its harder to get a WR, so if you get a blue chipper, you take him and run.

People like to throw out that "safe pick" thing with McClain, and like to hold up Pat Willis as his prototype, but one can just as easily point out Derrick Johnson and AJ Hawk as recent "safe" picks who arent living up their lofty status. Safe is a relative term in the draft, and if thats why your taking a player ... your doing it wrong.

    does'nt have to be inside..

Your point is valid though, were gonna have to study all the top linebackers to see who presents the right value at 11...besides Dez though, i think you might have the same problem, finding that value for receiver at #11...

yeah the detroit lions got all those receivers in the first round and they achieved a perfect season.......0-16. if wanting a 3-4 defense to actually have some linebackers is living in the past well then pop open a Schlitz and put some Bad Company in the tape deck.

Boldin is not a free agent. He may be on the trading block, but its gonna cost to get him.

Apparently hes dinged up again though. He seems to be one of those guys whos always playing hurt. Yeah he plays, but how much is it affecting his game?

You sure are hoping for Dez bryant to fall to you, either that or your hoping that you gotta fast riser comin up the ranks at receiver to get to #11th pick value?..

Theres a lot of evaluating that needs to be done, so we know where all these need players stack up at ,or close to, 11th pick value.

Thanks for bringing it strong, dj.
You know I love reading your posts.

Have to disagree with js on the immediate "needs" for the draft. I was yelling in the game thread yesterday how we could not stop anyone on the ground or through the air.

Big plant theory from BP on players might make one look at Terence Cody for NT.
I would love McClain there, too.
One more player that might help too is Mays out of USC.

Of all the situations, I will agree with Jaj: get me Bryant and Scheffter and then look at the draft for more help.

After talking this over with some others, I'm kind of at the mindset at this point that we hold our #11 pick, and just grab whoever is up on the board at LB, Safety, or WR. All three of those are positions we need to have a serious look at.

If the only WR people would spend #11 on is Dez Bryant, and from all I've heard he likely won't be around that long, I don't think we sell off the rest of our draft picks to snag him. At the end of the day #11 is a pretty strong spot, and with the eye this regime has, there is no reason we can't grab someone who is going to be going to the pro bowl in a few years, be it WR, S, or LB.
