Interview this morning on WQAM with "The Big Dog" Joe Rose about 6 minutes in he gives his opinion on Ginn http://wqam.com/index.php?page=347
if you also listen to the ricky call in on the Ronnie Brown Show i think most of you will enjoy what ronnie has to say about the jets and the wildcat towards the end.
love the fact thatmadison said our pass pressure sucked. i'm tired of hearing our sack statistics and making it seem like we are getting consistent pressure. our pass pressure sucked all year long except when we played buffalo also great point about how a system that allowed gibril to play run first allowed wilson to thrive but the system hgere that forced him to play off the ball put him in a system that didnt play to his strengths interesting that he likes fasano. fasano did pick it up end of season
so no one cared to comment about sams opinion of ted ginn. there are people here that justify ted ducking out of bounds and going to the ground to avoid a hit. not sam madison he used hines ward as an example of how ted ginn should play said that ginn should look upfield after making a catch instead of falling to the ground you never know when a defensive player will miss also talks about how ted is not a physical wr and it isnt tough to take him out of his game im beating a dead horse i know but wanted to point out that the opinion of an ex Dolphin cornerback who was a great player trumps the opinion of the Ginn supporters
If Ted Ginn caught the ball and saw Sam Madison he'd probably turn up field knowing Sam Madison didn't tackle.
Good point. That is what we call hypocrisy. It is easy for Sam Madison to say all that stuff now that he isn't short arming tackles and avoiding contact. Or maybe it is a take one to know one.
nice so you are bashing on Sam Madison in an attempt to defend Ted Ginn you do know and hopefully understand that Madison went to four straight pro bowls right ted ginn only dreams of such accomplishments
Madison at one time was arguably the best shut down corner in the league and could jam the shoes off your feet at the line. If he says he jammed Ginn until he quit......I'm buying that
yeah no doubt that g wilson doesn't fit our system not to mention he is playing the wrong position everyone complains about him being so awful but he is a good player the dolphins just dont have a clue on how to use him they totally blew that one
That's funny. Look I firmly feel what Madison said about Ginn was right on the money. I will say however that in the back of my head I did chuckle about Sam Madison calling someone out on being physical. He was a great cover corner but the weak point he had in his game was that he HATED to tackle. He looked like a Matador out there all the time and it drove me crazy. LOL.
did madison call for ginn being cut? no. that is the position o0f the so called ginn supporters. also listen to the marino interview. although he doesnt endorse Ginn, once again he echoes what Ginn "supporters" have been saying from the beginning of this past season which is we need his speed. Every single play that Ginn had man to man the safety cheated over to cover over the top. So if the choice is taking Madison's opinion of Ginn vs Marino's I'll take Marino. Still we need a number one receiver. Once we get that then we can debate whether to cut Bess, Camarillo, Ginn or Turner. Honestly, the only receiver I see that is hands off right now is Hartline and until we know what type of receiver we are bringing in we dont know which receiver should be let go
Madison is just calling it like it is, Walks like a duck, swims like a Duck... must be a duck. I dont see Bess and Hartline going anywhere. Ginn is just another Chambers type player only even more scared to take a hit, nothing against the guy but I seriously hope we don't have to endure another 6-7 years of "next year is going to be his breakout year" like we did with Chambers.
Im saying that if Surtain had said it, I'd respect it more. A guy who was soft pointing out someone else is soft is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black, in the strictest sense. Nobody wants to point out the numerous times Ginn has not searched for the sidelines. The times he duked it out on Sunday blocking for runs. Mixing it up with the DB (forget his name). fact of the matter is, if he played like Hines Ward he may end up like Pat. It's not brave, it's stupid, and he's not build like that. Get over it. Sam was built like that and he did not play tough, so that's why it's more troubling that he would make an irrational comparison like that. I've said this time and time again and no, Ginn is no Harrison, but Harrison avoided contact like the plague. I watched him go to the ground when he catches the ball in the middle and it isn't a clear path to the end zone. HE ran amazing routes and that's what I want Ginn to learn. I do not want him to fight for that extra yard and get knocked silly, he's smaller than everyone on the other side, and closer to the line he's about half their weight. I want him to concentrate on routes, on us concentrating on hitting him in stride like we had a couple times this year already.8 more of those a year and we're talking about a damn good passing attack.
What Sam said: "We knew we could take him out of the game because we heard he wasn't physical. I go over there and I jam him and he can't get off the jam. Then I tell the rest of the guys. Now, the whole team is gunning to make him quit by hitting him hard and making you get down on the ground." Madison never said anything about how he himself was laying the wood to Ginn...what he said was that he discouraged him by not letting him get off the jam. And then.....went to his team mates, told them how soft he was and "they" started hitting him. This isn't a far fetched scenario given the way Ginn gets pushed around at the line and altho Sam was never physical as far as tackling, he was known for getting a good jam on the WR.
he also compared him to Hines Ward. who in their mind makes that comparison? I'm comparing Warrick Dunn to Brandon Jacobs then.
a rookie can't get off a jam at the line? thats about 90% of all rookies. pat turner didnt play all year because he cant beat the jam yet. thats one of the two hardest adjustments rookies need to make. beating the jam and route running. the comment would have had more relevance if it was about this year. to call him out for being a rookie is lame
It has relevance because he still looks like ppl are playing pin ball with him as he tries to get off the line
he gets off the line fine now. not sure what you're talking about. its night and day to his rookie campaign. what are you looking for? a guy to run through the jam like he's 245 lbs?
Well in all fairness to Sam, it's not like he had many other options. When it comes to playing soft, Ginn really has no peers
so when do we start the Sean Smith Sucks threads because he cant tackle? I mean if Ginn is a wimp isnt Sean Smith ?
Um no, he doesn't....he gets bounced off the line in whatever direction he gets pushed. Those times you see him coming off the line cleanly, are due to the CB giving him a cushion. This is just another one of those phantom "improvements" he's made to his game.....like that myth about his improved route running. Is he better in many aspects than he was as a rookie? Yeah but you'd need an electron microscope and something involving a laser to actually measure those improvements.
Of course he's gotta take a side when beating the jam. As I said he's not 250lbs. He cant go through the cornerback. All those "phantom improvements" lol I sthis what you consider getting "bounced" [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyPtJF-IgPc&feature=related"]YouTube- Ted Ginn Jr Smokes Darrelle Revis For 53 Yard TD Catch[/ame]
Hey, im one of the people on here that are largely against the way ted ginn plays and that he needs to get out. I just didnt bother to comment on it because ive commented on it sooooo many times and i thought it would be nice to talk about some other interesting topics.
There's a difference between "taking the side" and getting pushed aside... Henne: I thought you were supposed to run a fly pattern? Ginn: Yeah but he pushed me so hard I broke it off into a curl
The way all these threads discussing Ginn go, all you get is someone(s) making comments about Ginn based on his merit, or lack of it - and the rest making derisive comments about those criticizing Ginn (even if they're fellow members here - brothers, as the term is thrown around so much), or denigrating and ridiculing the criticism, because that's all they have. It's old already.
Bro I totally agree with you. We need to get younger and faster on Defense. We need some speed coming around the corner, that we don't have. Wake brings that, but we need more to take it to the next level. Nice post bro.
We need to be careful because according to some of the Ginn supporters Madison is not a real dolphin fan but a fake fan. How dare he point out the obvious.
he's a real dolphin fan. we just pointed out that madison was a wimp by the standards being advocated for Ginn. Just like Sean Smith. At least lets be consistent. If we're going to call receivers wimps for avoiding hits which is part of their job description lets call cornerbacks who avoid hits which is not supposed to be part of their job description wimps. Sean Smith, Sam Madison and Ted Ginn are wimps for not playing like Dick Butkus.
yeah next year is the year ive been waiting for for eight years. i really think we have a shot to have a very very good team. QB and CBs with an extra year of experience, a healthy team, and one more offseasonb to bring in the Parcells guys. I think we win the AFC EAST going away and win at least one playoff game
