I would have said yes after the horrible Season 6 but Season 7 was pretty good. Sure after Season 3 the format as well as the usual storylines (i.e. CTU getting attacked, tons of moles, going through Presidents like chewing gum, Jack saying there's no time etc) got old but it's still one of the better TV shows on. I do however think one of 24's big problems is that they don't have a 2nd character that the show could move on with if something were to happen to Jack. After Season 4 or 5 they should have started building up a few new characters instead of just having seemingly a new cast each year. It is in its 8th year so show me a TV show that isn't played out after 8 years.
This. I would also argue that the formula is one of the big appeals, and there's nothing else like it on TV.
Yes, it's played out. Not only that, Showtime's 'Sleeper Cell' was/is a million times better. Plus, it had boobs. Double Win.
I've never watched a single second of that show. I think Kiefer Sutherland is a giant douche, and refuse to watch anything he's in. Poop on that show.
I've never seen the show, but I think every episode is 24 hours. So being in the 8th season, has the entire series taken place in about 6 months of one year?
Finkle (amazingly) is right. 24 was revived with a terrific season 7 after many of us thought it was dying with season 6. By the way, I literally know nothing about the upcoming season other than it starts soon and takes place in NY. Anyone have any info they can give me?
I never watched an episode of it but it seems like every year they show previews for it and Jack is coming back to take care of business. Random important person "Jack we need you." Jack "No not again!!!!!!!!!!" Random important Person "But its that really bad thing from before." Jack "Oh, okay. But this is the last time." Rinse and repeat
you either like it or you dont. but bauer is one hell of a character. the plot usually does a good enough job at dragging jack back into the action. he is the best at what he does the first season was simply amazing and i would really recommend it. and about 2 or 3 others were very very good. you have to suspend disbelief a lot of times, but the payoff when it works is well worth it imo
Search for the 24 Season 7 thread, I posted a lot of info on the upcoming season in it. In a nutshell it takes place in NY, CTU is back, Jack is retired, some group is trying to kill a President of a Middle Eastern country in NY. Well yes it actually has happened that way for the past 4 seasons and will again this year. That's one of the things I was talking about in my earlier post about the usual storylines.
There have actually been 8 Presidents in 7 seasons of 24, not counting the unnamed and unseen President in season 1. Kind of overkill on the whole 'the president is attacked/bad/can't do his job so we need the Vice President to fill in'.
You'd think the president would: A. Stay the eff away from L.A. which is apparently the terrorist attack capital of the US. B. Do something about the frequent presidential assassination attempts. C. Stay the eff away from anything to do with Jack Bauer.
And to think, Jack Bauer never pees craps or eats...has been in the same clothes for 24 consecutive hours running around like a madman and no one tells him he's a tad ripe...and has an AMAZING cell phone whose battery NEVER dies, and can make CRYSTAL CLEAR calls from the luggage compartment of a jumbo jet, with NEVER a dropped call!
I always felt that people who use those example as to why the show isn't good/unrealistic are just nitpicking. Do you really want to see a cut scene of Jack using the bathroom or getting mad because his cell phone call was dropped or ran out of battery? Why can't the viewer just assume Jack uses the bathroom or switches batteries or something when he's not on screen or during the commercial? And actually in at least Season 1 and Season 5 Jack is shown eating and I do believe a cell phone lost battery/service in Season 1.
Calm down...have some dip....(let's see who gets that reference!) Read my earlier post. I LOVE 24. I'm just saying that those things are hilarious.
I actually wasn't directing that post towards you or anyone else here. Just kind of venting to the haters in general when they bring that stuff up as to why they don't like the show. It's the same thing I have with Lost when people complain about how Hurley never loses weight or how the castaways don't run out of contacts, meds, or how they don't have longer hair and bushy beards by now etc.
Most cell phone batteries go more than a day without dying, and I've seen Jack change clothes a few times. Plus, I do remember a scene where they show Jack walking out of a bathroom. Want to try again?
Really? For as much as he uses it? And if you wander into an area with no reception it drains the battery faster as the phone will work harder searching for a signal. And yea...I remember that scene too. One piss in 7 days. Not bad. Hey...if you're gunna be "Captain Literal", so will I.
