Say what you want, but this guy very quietly is becoming one of the very best "Rags-to-riches" stories ever.
Many consider the Tom Brady 6th round pick one of the most fortunate luck picks ever, well, how about the Rams picking up Warner for....well...nothing.
All he did was come in and run "The Greatest show on Turf" right into a Superbowl championship
Of course, he was rewarded by being cast-off, only to ride the pines in NY.
Thr Cards once again pick him up for.....well....nothing, and Viola, Superbowl appearance.
    -
Well last night something interesting happened, Warner at age of 37, actually had more TD passes than incompletions!
No, that not a typo, he indeed was 29 of 33 throwing 5 freakin TD's, and that's against a very solid defense.
Off the field, Warner is very candid and quiet.
His religion and love of his wife dictate how he treats the off-season, and I think that has much to do with his longevity.
    -
When all the dust settles, and he eventually hangs it up I think Mr Warner will leave behind a legacy of perhaps the greatest "Rags-to-Riches" stories ever. I mean, its pretty tough to beat being a grocery sacker to being enshrined in Canton.
What thinks you? Does Warner end up in the HOF?

Me too, though I don't know that he'd be a 1st ballot for me. Without the SB appearances I know I'd feel a lot different about him.

However, I disagree with his award in STL was him being cast off. He was cast off because of his last two years there, where he couldn't seem to play all season (0-6 in 2002 by the way). And he rode the pine in NYG because he just wasn't that special in his playing time there, and they had a #1 overall pick there too. I mean if you're going to get marginal QB play, it may as well be from the rookie. And it wasn't a super bowl overnight in AZ either, he was there for 3 years prior to the SB season (all 3 of which he had losing records).

First, I couldn't agree more with you azfinfanmang. I've always been a big Warner fan. Kinda surprised they haven't made a movie about his life/career yet, because you couldn't make up a script like his in Hollywood. There's more to it too. Check this out:

    http://www.snopes.com/glurge/warner.asp

Pretty amazing, huh? I mean, the guy is a friggin' saint! I'm pulling for the Cards to go all the way, and for him to get one more ring before he retires. Be a heckuva way to finish an incredible career. Then, maybe Hollywood will take notice and start working on that movie?

That game yesterday was awesome. Fun to watch for sure. But, you're right...he had 5 TD's compared to 4 incompletions. UFB! Wow...just wow!

As for Canton, well I dunno. I mean, I don't know if his stats would merit consideration. But, I noticed a few of the talking heads talking about it before the game yesterday. So, I guess he has enough stats to be considered. One thing is for sure, if they take integrity into consideration, well, then he's gotta be first ballot IMO.

He absolutely deserves to be in the HoF. He also had to deal with injury/concussions during his time with the Giants. He has come back strong recently.

We are talking about the Cardinals here. Three years is a freakin miracle.
The Gints shouldve used Warner more.
The Cards also have him starting in front of Leinart, and even signed him back away from SF this last year.
Playing the way he did last night (Remember, he didn't even have Quan) the Cards can beat anybody in the playoffs right now IMO.

I think that is more an indictment of Boldin's importance than anything. Yes, I do agree Warner played great (I wish we could be so lucky to have a QB play so well). I'm just saying I don't think his numbers would've been any better (at least not noticeably) with Boldin out there. Arguably Kurt's two best games of the season (counting Sunday and @CHI) involved Boldin not playing.

it's not like his other WRs weren't open. IMO Boldin couldn't have done any more damage than what they already did. maybe the game would have ended 62-56 instead. i don't know.

I think he's a better person, and more professional than Farveeee (Perhaps unfairly as I have never met either- just a hunch) but a better QB? NOT

I don't know how anyone could possibly not consider him a HOF candidate. The guy is absolutely amazing. First ballot all the way.

He excels at all parts of the game....from completion percentage, to TD's, to Yards per attempt. The fact that he's been a bit of a journeyman QB should not overshadow his phenomenal play. Just because teams are foolish enough to look past his production (Sent packing for Bulger, sat for Eli (too soon IMO), and sat for Leinhart) doesn't mean we should. Look at how he stacks up all time (via wikipedia mind you but others are more vague as tot he requirements)

-2nd Highest pass yards per game in a career with 260.4 (2nd only to Peyton Manning)
-Highest compeltion percentage in a single regular season game 92.3%
-Most yards passing in Super Bowl: 414 yards (also owns 2nd and 3rd)
-Most passing yards in SB career (1,156 yards)
-Most passing yards playoffs (single season) 1,147 (2009)
-Most TD's in post season-11 (Tied with Joe Montana)
-Highest career completion percentage in post season 66.5%
-2nd Highest career passer rating in playoffs 104.6 (Bart Starr first)
-Highest rate of 300+ yard games 45.2%
-Most games with a perfect passer ratings 3 (tied with manning and roth)
-tied as fastest player to reach 30,000 yards- 114 games (Dan Marino)

I mean his statistics are insane. And that's with a truncated career. He spent some time out side of football, injured, and sitting behind lesser QB's. His stats against playoff (remember those are supposed to be the better teams in the league) are just insane.

    How could he not?

And IMO he's a much better QB than Favre. Favre has Mojo and not a ton else. I respect the guy but as far as QB's go Warner's got it IMO.

Yeah, keep in mind I started the thread in the first place
I still think that Farvee in his prime is up there with the very best of them, and keep in mind he has already stolen many records from Dan, some of which many thought would never be broken.
At this juncture, I will agree that Warner is a better QB, and they are very very different QB's, but I think in his Prime, Farvee probably has to be considered top 10 of all time.
Not sure I can say that about Warner....top 20? Probably, but not top 10.

If Michael Irvin is a first ballot HOF, then Kurt Warner should be too. Warner is #1, 2, and 3 in Super Bowl passing yardage. He may be #4 after this year. HOF for sure.

    lol noted :)

I'd take Warner in his prime over Favre in his prime honestly....but I'm a fan of pure passers.

The big difference that sticks out in my head is that Warner got hurt and kept getting pushed out for other guys...while GB was married to Favre throughout his career. Favre is good, no doubt, one of the all time greats. But I take Warner at his best over Favre at his best...

    You bet he does!!

First Ballot HOFer for sure. As for pure pocket passers imho he is right there with Danny and Peyton. IPOF he reminds me of Danny alot; just look at how he reacted to Fitz's mishandling that one pass in Sunday's game. I must also add if I had to chose between Warner and Brady I'll take Warner hands down, all day long!

As for Farve well we'll see where he stands after Romo and Company get finished up there.
