Sad to see him go.
BUT, all things considered it makes sense in the long run. We need more than Waddle to become relevant so these draft picks are necessary.

Maye is still far better than Tue Turntheballover.
Bad comparison considering how Maye is a fumbling machine.

We honestly have no idea if he's an upgrade or not. None. It's not a sexy or exciting hire, but that has no bearing on whether he will succeed or fail. And even "proven" coaches fail in new environments. They may have a better chance at success, or better knowledge, but they can fail just the same. There is no guarantee that Harbaugh will succeed at anything in NY or that McDermott will raise, I don't know, Arizona to some new height.
Ross brought in a guy that came highly recommended in almost every NFL circle for GM, and that guy brought in a coach he thinks will succeed. Nothing but time will tell us if they make it or not.
Exactly. We have no clue how this will pan out, but for anyone to say it ""seems" this is nothing more than a "**** the bed" hire is prematurely ridiculous. Of course this hire isn't a proven success but hes not a proven failure either.
Every NFL HC was once an unproven hire. Some work out, some dont.
If you ask me it "seems" we better wait and see before we lable this hire a failure.

Yes
Ross, make the move and get him. Don't waste time.

I do not agree that things were going well up to that point. They needed to be running the ball much more on the first couple of drives. I blame MM's play selections early on for this loss, as much or more than anything Tua did or did not do.
^THIS ^
FWIW Dolphins win Sunday.
Achane has a game and Ewers surprises with a few highlights along the way.

I am interested to see Tua’s body language and how he responds to the benching. Maybe it’ll light a fire under his ***. But my suspicion is he’ll be as care free as ever laughing it up on the sideline. We shall see.
I'm going with the care free attitude. It will be a bad look for him but it won't be the first time.
Is Tua's benching solely from his poor play , or is MM protecting his boys feelings and ego from the inevitable wrath from the home fans. ?
Either way, I'm glad he's out.
All things considered I dont agree with the Bengals being favored in the next game. That spread was out before the QB uncertainty became a topic.
Bengals D is horrible.

I don’t buy it’s a known fact that Ross likes Tua to that end.
MM, not Tua.

Tua has regressed back to pre McDaniel days. He can't run, he can't throw and he certainly lost the quickness that made him a top 10 QB in the league.
He also forgot how to position his body when throwing.. Whenever he senses danger he backpedals and doesn't set his feet - Leading to wobbly throws and interceptions or near interceptions.
If I had to guess., I''d say its the hip issue resurfacing. Something is clearly wrong and its never going to get better.
Apparently his days are numbered.

IMO getting rid of McDaniel would be a big mistake and I can see three or four years from now, many on here looking at what ever team he end up at with envy the way many do with Dan Campbell. He still needs to perfect his craft but I'd rather roll with him and let him develop then take a shot in the dark with some other coordinator. Plus McDaniel doesn't seem like an ego driven guy who's its my way or the high way so a new GM may be able to work with him to improve on his faults. Maybe even bring in an assistant HC who has HCing experience to take some things off his plate.
I was as big of a Tua fan as there is on this board but there is something just not right with him. I don't know if its mental or physical and I'm not sure if even matters. We need to move on, the only question is the best way to mitigate the cap impact.
Pretty much where I'm at also. Its a known fact Ross likes M.M. so I doubt he gets rid of him. As far as Tua, its obvious hes declining, and fast. There's absolutely no viable reason to believe he will show vast improvement at this point in his career. This team must hire a competent GM who will explore all options and get a quality QB somewhere, somehow. Is that QB Ewers? Who knows, my guess is probably not , but all possibilities must be considered. Some great QB's in this league, past and present, were not exactly first round picks obviously so its not impossible to strike gold by accident.
Once again, a lot of ifs and uncertainties are surrounding this team as the NFL season approaches the playoffs.
Very frustrating.

Well. Started 1-6. Team didnt quit on MM. i suppose that counts for something. But u shouldn’t have started so poorly. Now two years in a row. Thats a problem. Its untenable.
Early defensive injuries probably played a part in it this year. It took a little while for the replacements to find a groove.
Not making excuses because I have zero clue where we go from here.

MM knew it also. He was obviously more intent on positive plays than speeding things up to no avail. I'm not too bothered by it actually. A one, maybe two possession game and things would've been done differently I would imagine.

Because it's obvious that the guy is playing like a rookie. How hard is it to step in to a throw compounded by the undisputable fact that he has a weak arm?
I agreed the pass was bad and frustrating. But its not going to change things to whine about it endlessly. Especially when we will have to root for him til further notice.
"Den54 wrote:
Go on.
It isn't?
I mean we all get it, the interception sucked. But all Tua complainers will be rooting for him during the next drive.
Why whine on every negative play. ?
This place is pathetic sometimes.
Dolphins make a field goal, announcer , "and the Saints add to their lead"
What the hell is going on in Miami today?
Terrible throw. What rhe hell is he doing.?
Thats just horrible.
