O-Line is an issue...can't have RT on his backside all the time and expect success beyond whatever we've had so far.
The Guards on this team are either unproven (Turner) or BAD (Thomas). They are remaking other areas, which is fine because there where many holes on this team, but still, I hope they have an ace up their sleeve concerning this Offensive line.
I don't really miss this as much as it's just funny because it was one of our main concerns back then and now it seems trivial since we've had more than a couple of backs go over 1,000.
But the yearly, will our RB go over 1,000 yards????...question.
I remember how big of a deal it was when Higgs and Parmalee would get close.
I agree that he needs to hurry up.
I want someone that REALLY wants the opportunity and wants to be HERE.
If he's flip flopping so much then we'll end up in the Saban wagon again of getting a guy who came for the money but who's heart wasn't all that into comming to the MIAMI Dolphins. Then in a few years he'll either bolt by retiring or suck so bad we'll get rid of him ourselves.

Yeah, and he made a very fast recovery from the surgery. Just guessing without looking it up, I'd say beginning in 1996 to the end of their careers, Fryar played twice as many games as Barnett. Barnett was just another JJ mistake when addressing offense.
Edit: I was mistaken. Fryar played in 5x as many games from 1996 on, compared to Barnett.
Sadly, the knee jinx was on while JJ was here. At least it felt like a jinx.
Barnett blew his knee out right after geting off the plane here basically. He went on to get his second corpse knee ligament replacement and then we cant forget the Yatil Green deal where he blew it out before preseason.
I remember at the time thinking how Marino was still going crazy despite having basically backups at WR (except for OJ) and finally towards the end an old Tony Martin.
I dont think they are doing it to get fans on the Henne bandwagon. I think people in the media liked having the amount of readers they were having when they had the Orton deal going on and when that stopped they wanted to keep it going so they figured a Favre story would do the trick.
Honestly its getting old. I just want to see them (entire team) perform in a pre season game already and see how they are all improving/stayed the same.
Henne is the man this season unless he craps the bed really bad and I dont see that happening. Like I have said before he's average enough to win you some games, then in others you'll want to tear his head off - (just because I know it pisses some people off - he's JAY FIEDLER like). We dont have anyone that can do better so we head off into battle with what we got and its first round or bust for this team.

I've yet to come up w/ any idea as to how that might be.
They want to make it seem like they are turning over every rock. That way, should the castle crumble, they can't be accused of closing any doors or burning any bridges in trying to find an upgrade at QB.
For example - "We tried everything we could to find a better QB solution" - said Coach Sparano after his team suffered its 10th loss of the season yesterday and stands at 5-10.
It could also be that they know that a large amount of fans will be intrigued by this idea for a time and that while they are daydreaming of this they can give Henne some more time to polish up his game.
Reminds me of the rumors when Troy Aikman was being thought of down here.
I dont see what the problem is here. I see no 'sissy' in Henne's comments.
Of course its going to hurt when you've got a bunch of people talkign s*it about your performance at work. Its not like he is trying to suck.
Now if the best he's got isnt good enough to get this team to the playoffs then thats unfortunate for everyone, especially for him and his career.
Granted there's freedom of speech like I said before and people can say what they want about you, but it doesnt mean you have to like what they say and it doesnt mean what they say is necessarily true.
I dont think he should comment on this anymore and go the Fiedler route and blow it off.
All this means to me is that the coaching staff and management (if this goes any further) is not liking what they are seeing from Henne to this point.
People can come on here and show stats and try and yadda yadda yadda about whatever but in the end if a fall back to Favre plan is considered it can only mean that what the staff is seeing what is going on and they aren't liking it.
Because no matter how the fans have reacted, if they knew that this kid was going lights out and they had full confidence in his abilities they couldnt care less what anyone says or does.
I wouldnt mind seeing Favre brought in so long as he is up for a competition. Not that I think he'll have a hard time winning.
Even with his penchant for throwing some bad picks IMHO he would still be able to wrestle the job away from Henne.
Besides if Favre sucks so bad then Henne has nothing to worry about.
Palmer. Right now.
Right now, I look at the team and say we are mediocre again and end up too good to get a QB, to bad to go anywhere this season.
So you get Palmer and suddenly I think we have a shot at the 2nd round, maybe more. I think he is a clear upgrade.
I am not a suck for anything person. So forget the suck for Luck deal. If we suck, then we suck, but we dont do it on purpose.
Ask again after the pre-season and you may get a different answer if Henne's play has improved and if the defense has gotten even better (ie. Wilson is the real deal at safety and Soliai is still cracking heads like a monster that dont belong to teammates).

but he signed with SF because he thought they had a better chance to go to the Super Bowl.
Thats how I remember it too. I read in the Herald that even his mom was lobbying him to come here. It was a huge disappointment when he turned us down and then he said that about SF's chances vs ours.
The question is whether he would've made a difference against the Chargers in the 2nd half...
IMHO I think if he was playing CB for us, that game wouldnt of come down to Stoyo and we would've gone on to play Pittsburg.

Has anybody even seen Colombo practicing? Does he look like he's in early 2009 form or is he just injured/struggling like he has been for a while now?
Can't practice until tomorrow, Thursday.

Horrible that the Dolphins are in such a terrible situation to where their starting QB is getting booed at night scrimmages. That's horrible. But that doesn't mean I think it's wrong to do it. Just a bad situation to be in all the way around.
I agree 100%. In the end, this isnt the old U.S.S.R.
In fact, I venture to say that those fans should be praised for their passion. Its not like they are going out to the practice to watch their team fail. They are obviously fans to want to go hangout at the stadium when its hot as hell (YES even at night here) and watch a freaking training camp practice. There were more people there than at a Marlins game for crying out loud.
They voiced there opinion since after all how else can they voice it? Calling a radio show? Sending a letter? Show up to Davie with picket signs? Come on man.
They want this team to do better. They reacted in a way that they, at the time, believed they could let management know how they were feeling about the product on the field, at that time.
Is it right? Is it classy? All debateable. Can they do it in the United States of America? YES.

Henne can make all the throws, Fielder could not.
What does ability in direct comparison to Fiedler have to do with it?
I said that they are both very average. Doesnt matter that he can make the throws if Fiedler can make plays with his feet.
Fiedler also had slightly better field vision and was more cerebral than Henne.
What difference does it make? They are both very average and thats my point.

I was specifically referring to the Moore deal. I understand that our team needs some upgrades in other areas but I think we will sign more players when we are officially allowed to sign, T-minus 42 minutes.
I really, really hope so because if we are going to stick with Henne (like I thought they would all along) fine. He's average. I dont see anymore upside with him, I am sorry but I dont. He is what he is and may or may not slightly improve to (more recent) Orton type numbers with a new offensive philosophy but thats it IMHO.
I dont believe in the mantra of excuses like some hardcore Henne rah rah rah people on here but at the sametime I think we can do worse, Moore being the example.
I have always likened Henne to Jay Fiedler in that he's very average but can win you some games and then again lose you plenty as well.
HOWEVER, if they are going to go with Henne then they must upgrade the OLine and TE. I dont know what people see in Fasano. He is very average as well and we can do so much better and THAT single thing might be what helps Henne out since a great TE that can get open and catch may be exactly what the doctor ordered.
So to sum it up, sticking with Henne like Wannstedt did with Fiedler? Fine. But upgrade then the other spots bigtime to help the guy out. Dont just gamble on rookies and an Oline thats an injury away from being musical chairs again to bail the guy out.
"SCall13 wrote:
Smart? Sure. Big plays? Never.
That sums up his career here. I liked him comming out of Florida but we can do a lot better. Then again we can do a lot worse but thats the risk you take.
"Da-PhinZ wrote:
You guys can say your being realistic but realistically your being pessimistic.
The thing is that I dont believe its just the Henne deal its the overall lack of an upgrade across the board at areas of need. You cant really look at the rookies and say thats an upgrade because they havent played a down yet so odds are they may suck.
Those are just the odds. Thats why there are so many busts. I am sure we all thought Sammie Smith, Cecil Collins, Irving Spikes, John Avery and JJ Johnson, among the many others, were the next Bo Jackson at some point but that didnt work out so well.
So call me gun shy on annointing Thomas just yet.
If they dont suck, great. But when your talking about someone comming into the league, you cant just hang your hat on them until they actually play in a real game - NFL starters against starters.
So, other than rookies who have we brought in? We spent a whole damn extended offseason planning for a LEGITIMATE QB competition and what we get is soggy fruit loops going up against Henne. I expected as much but a lot of people on here thought they would really do something.
Next, we get a RB via trade that is the MO for this regime's big deals - an injury prone player. Granted he's good (not exceptional) for what he does when he can actually stay on the field but since that isnt very often then its a lukewarm aquisition at best.
The final great splash is the addition of a special teamer LBer. Sure he's started a few games but really this guy was brought in more so because of the fact he's tight with the ex-Cleveland crew here.
Now we know FA doesnt 'officially' start until 6 and I dont think anyone here really expect us to go after every available FA, it just feels like teams that are above us make moves and seem like they arent content with just being 14-2 and they want to still improve. While our seemingly half ass attempts to provide legitimate QB competition added to the general feeling that the rest of the roster is fine, and only needs a slight tweaking, is what is getting a lot of people pissed off.

1. Haven't seen moonballs like that since Steve Grogan in Tecmo Super Bowl.
2. Kind of telling that among the 15 hand-picked highlight throws were two woefully underthrown balls.

you must laugh in order to not cry when it comes to this tragic franchise.
I think you hit it right on the nose Section.
You may be right about the Orton issue, but as usual when it comes to Henne its all a bunch of excuses like a new recruit bitching and moaning as to why he cant pass the PAT (physical) to enter into the Academy.
Its too damn hot, the dummy drag is to far, I didnt eat breakfast, my shoes were untied, you started the stop watch before I was ready, the grass was too wet and I slipped, the top of the wall has too many pebbles and I couldnt get a good grip to climb up and over, neighbors dog was barking last night and couldnt sleep right, a bug flew into my eye/mouth, etc. etc. etc. etc.
