Yeah wont that trap the heat? it does look nice from the inside, and they are planning on moving the seats closer which will make it louder along with the roof. But the roof is kind of strange for south florida.

See, I don't like the roof, when I come down to the game, besides wanting to see my beloved Fins is the appeal of baking in the sun in December while at home its 20 degrees and snowing.

I'm in the window business, so I know very well that this will drastically increase the comofortability of the occupants and reduce the heat they are exposed to.
Here is a link explaining it all a bit more.

I think this is great for the stadium and should help increase attendence and stadium noise! I hope this gets approved. I still am not sure if this will allow us to get any more Super Bowls though because the field and game itslelf will be exposed to the elements and rain storms.Mile High Fin, djphinfan, LandShark13 and 4 others like this. -
From the inside it looks fine.........but from the outside I think that roof is going to look hideous

This is awesome.
I wondered how they would add a roof to this thing. Especially without having columns someplace obstructing the view (like in Indy). These renderings show suspension columns (like a bridge).
Also, with the climate (i.e. hurricanes) being what they are in Florida, a metal roof is the way to go. Though it looks like there's glass or something the light passes thru. -
Also, note the scoreboards at each corner....removing seats.
I'm one who feels the stadium should have a lower capacity. However, it would appear that by getting the lower bowl closer to the field.....they're adding seats. I like that they're all aqua color. The orange gives the impression of empty seats even when there aren't.
Regardless, they're moving in the right direction.Mile High Fin, GISH, gafinfan and 4 others like this. -
So the Dolphins will play in a giant graduation hat?

Great news. Pretty much all the complaints we have about that stadium are being addressed. The only thing I don't like are that the two video screens are close together. It was nice having one on wither side of the field.
-
Reminds me of the old Cowboys stadium.
I like it though and hope it goes through. -

well first and foremost this wont happen until MS is built, which wont be done until next year.
secondly how long would all of this take? I would assume they would change the seats first, then comes the lower bowl extension, then the screen upgrades, the roof would be constructed last. -

But man.....I think from the outside that is gonna be one ugly stadium..lolOzzy likes this. -
I guess the hole is so God can take a **** on his favorite team? It does look like an extremely uncomfortable tiolet.

holy crap that thing looks terrible from the outside! on the inside i do have to say it looks nice and i like it. It almost looks more like a soccer stadium which leads me to wonder if they were considering a bid to host a few World Cup games if they are held in the US in either 2018 or 2022
edit: my bad, i just read through the article, looks like they are trying to make it attractive for world cup games.jetssuck likes this. -

I think the roof looks stupid with the Texas/Cowboys stadium hole in the middle. Wasn't the rain one of the main reasons for a roof? How does this stop on the field for a Super Bowl? It doesn't.
However, Best news here is moving seats closer to the field. I can' wait for the Marlins to get the F out! -
Keep the noise in, keep the fans covered, leave the field exposed...I love the concept just not sure about the propsed design. Even though its preliminary and subject to change, I would have expected something with a bit more South Florida "flair". -
Everything looks nice except the corners of the roof. Can't they change that and make it smooth like the way the stadium is? And I think they just want to keep the rain out of the stands for the SB, the field not being as big of a deal.
I wonder where our flags will go. I guess they could hang them from the rafters where the lights are. Hopefully the seats being closer and the partial covering will make it louder, get some of the old orange bowl noise back. The OB didn't need a roof though. -
But actually, in a driving storm it won't keep anyone in the lower level dry. Sure, those in the upper will be fine, but the lower is still exposed if it is moving with any wind.
-
The roof is going to be 25 feet above the upper deck wall, so the flags can still be up there if they want them to be. Looks like it will be open air through that area.
-
You know what, I'm probably alone in this but I rather keep the seats orange. Yes, it does look like there are empty seats when there isn't but it's tradition, and all I've ever known. I like the idea of the roof to keep the fans comfortable and dry while leaving the field exposed. Of course, the louder it can be the better.

i like the modern era artsy look PLUS inside we get that 12th man closer to the field :up:djphinfan, JimToss and Thunderbolt89 like this.
