My grandfather had them and now I have them. I went into the hospital last month with pain and got meds and whatnot, the pain went away do I thought it was out.

Then I go back exactly a month later, same symptoms but they tell me the stone hasn't moved and is stuck. They may need to stick a wand up my damn urethra and pull it out if it doesnt leave in it's own.

Sometimes the pain is just dull but others times it's like literally dying. The other day I threw up all over my damn self before I could get to the hospital. They pumped me full of morphine and even that barely helped.

So yeah, kidney stones suck long story short

    1. Cut back on red meat.

    2. Drink more water. Lots more.

    3. Every couple of months eat nothing but soup for a week, to flush your kidneys.

    4. Keep prednisone handy for the inevitable gout that will come after having stones.

    5. Start taking allopurinol every day.

I did 1 & 2 since my last stone, about 6 years ago and haven't had one since.
I did 3-5 after my last bout of gout 2 years ago (which is normally annoying pain but that last one was just a notch below the stones) and haven't had it flair up since.

My dad had this...you can try saw palmetto formula and see if that shrinks it so you can pass it

My dad, my sister, and her son all get them. Thankfully, it seems to have bypassed me so far.

Perhaps I self medicate though, but rarely eating red meat, drinking about two gallons of water/unsweet tea a day, and eating soup for lunch all the time?
