Jacksonville -- The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired 11-time Pro Bowl quarterback and four-time league MVP Peyton Manning from the Indianapolis Colts on Monday.

The Jaguars sent their second-round pick (38[SUP]th[/SUP] overall) and reserve receiver Jarrett Dillard to Indianapolis.

Manning, 35, missed this past season due to a neck injury but has been cleared to resume playing by two of his doctors.

“We know Peyton is a risk because of his neck injury, but he’s been cleared and has started throwing again,” said Jacksonville general manager Bdogtitan11. “The fact is, Peyton brings so much to the table with his experience and stellar history that it was worth the gamble.”
Jacksonville selected quarterback Blaine Gabbert out of Missouri with the 10[SUP]th[/SUP] overall selection in last year’s draft, but adding Manning doesn’t leave the rookie out in the cold.

“Blaine struggled last year, but he was really thrown to the wolves,” Bdogtitan11 said. “I think adding Peyton is huge for this franchise and huge for Blaine. It will give him a couple years to learn from one of the best quarterbacks of all time and adjust to the game, much like Aaron Rodgers did a few years back.”

Jacksonville had the worse offense and passing attack in the NFL last season, prompting the Jaguars’ move for Manning.

“With Peyton, you know what you’re getting,” Bdogtitan11 said. “He wins and he puts up big numbers all the time. You saw how much the Colts missed him this past season. We think with our defense (ranked sixth in NFL last year), we’re only a veteran quarterback and playmaker away from being a playoff contender. I think we’re almost there now.”
