    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

That's not the way it works nowadays and that is why I'm not worried about any team ever going undefeated again...

The players of today couldn't hold the jocks of the players of the 70's and earlier in regards to toughness...

...add to that the fact that a player doesn't get the big endorsements by almost winning the big game and you have players that sit.

Fact of 21st century football life. You either get over it or you let it eat at you.

The problem here isn't that the Colts are resting players, it's that the Jets are moving into 2nd in the East. That's what is eating people up. Has nothing to do with the integrity of the game.

    IMO.

Kinda enhances the undefeated season since it is so tough to achieve that you have to throw a game due to the pressure.

    Here is an idea.

The NFL rulebook actually has a forfeit clause in it.

Why doesn't every team that has nothing to play for just forfeit next week? Including us.

If no loses...you play everyone, every game until you suffer a LOSS or until no games left to play.

    UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIPS RULE!

Its simple....like it, learn it, live it!

Obviously the Colts organization weighed the risk/reward and decided it wasn't worth risking Manning and/or any other star player on their team to try and go 19-0.

Did you want them to go 19-0?

Exactly. Perfect season and Lombardi aren't mutually exclusive. The reason the Cheatriot loss was more karma than players that weren't proper rested.

That said, I'm happier with the Cheaters going undefeated during the regular season and losing the SB, than with going 15-1 and getting another ring.

Ehhhh, a loss is a loss is a loss.....every NFL Franchise outside of MIAMI needs to suffer one every season.

Do NOT care at all how they happen....a loss is a loss is a loss.

We dont force them to do something...they did it to themselves.....works for me, and all the '72 Dolphins!

All of the fans in Indy paid for a product they are not getting. They didn't pay to watch a preseason game. I agree with the previous sentiment that its a copout because Caldwell doesn't have the guts to go after perfetction. What has resting starters ever accomplished? Unless I'm crazy most Super Bowl winners never rested anybody. They are laying down in a game that is big for the AFC playoff picture. Baltimore and Pittsburgh are definitely getting the screw job here.

I don't understand Caldwell's decision here. If you're going to throw a game just to avoid injuries, then what was the point of having Manning out there for 2 entire quarters? He still risked injury to his players and now all those guys are pissed since they're thinking had we played maybe 1 more quarter, we'd win the game. And they're right. On a side note, Jets record is a FRAUD. They play Bengals backups next week too since a Bengals loss means they play the jets AGAIN, whereas a Bengals win means they play the Ravens. I wonder if that fatass loudmouth they call their HC knows they have a "win and in" situation against backups

So what was the point of having them play 2 quarters, or any snaps at all? Every snap you take there is a risk of an injury. All that fool Caldwell did was put the idea of perfection in their minds and ripped it away.

In the end the fans are all that matters and as a paying fan you deserve your team's best effort in every regular season and playoff game. Can you just say screw the fans? In a business that doesn't exist without them? It's a simple bottom line. It's even more disgusting knowing fat Rex and the Jets are the beneficiaries of this nonsense.

That's not even getting into what it does to the morale of the players who wanted to go after 19-0. What player wouldn't want a shot at that?

If this is true, then the Colts made a big mistake. If you are going to the playoffs, you never allow another playoff team a victory late in the season. That is like coaching 101. The Colts really are a disgrace.

Well, I'm sick to my stomach. Just bend down for the Jets.

I'm with Section. There should be a rule that allows you to forfeit a game.

That's a ridiculous statement. Benching a few starters to ensure a smooth playoff run is (1) standard after clinching the division and (2) a very smart move.

We lost Ricky Williams in the 2nd half today. If we had already won the division you guys would be screaming, "Why did we lose our star back for no reason?" Getting the backups reps also helps them prepare for when they are genuinely needed...you cannot be that blind as not to see that. Indy made the logical move today, as have most teams in that position in the past.

They practically benched the entire team. It's hardly standard. Find a Super Bowl winner in recent years that benched its starters. It doesn't improve your odds at all. Players can just as easily get hurt in the playoffs. See Carson Palmer in 2005. That's part of the game. If you don't care about the results, forfeit and save everybody's time from both teams as well as the fans.

Its a copout by fanbase and FO.

Agree, and WHEN the day comes that our current MIAMI DOLPHINS face a game late in the season, I sure hope every FAN of this franchise remembers and understands that.

YOU PLAY YOUR BEST BODIES EVERY CHANCE AND GAME YOU HAVE.

UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP IS #1 GOAL......#2 GOAL IS 1 loss CHAMPIONSHIP! #3 GOAL is CHAMPIONSHIP with multiple losses!

You never ever ever sacrifice a #1 goal for a speculative RISK!!!!!!:hi5:

I WISH nothing more for the Jets to go on and beat the Cotls in the playoffs. And I hate the Jets with the deepest passion. What the Colts did today was a disgrace to every single fan who pay'd thousands on thousands to watch their team throw away a game. It was a disgrace to the players who had a chance to make history. It was a stab in the back to every single team fighting their asses off to make the playoffs. Manning was not touched once in that game and was in no threat to get injured. That is the dumbest sh!t I've ever heard. Cinci would be crazy to try and win knowing they will play these chumps again. I still wouldn't be suprised if Sanchez throws 3 pick sixes next week and lost in miserasble fasion. F YOU COLTS!!!! Jets entire organization from the top to the biggest fair weather fan out there, you guys are all a bunch of shmucks. You fat *** coach is an idiot and all you fans can lick my nuts. We still own you and will for the next 10 years. Does anyone know when the last time a team made the playoffs due to teams throwing the game in week 16 and 17???

What the Colts did is flat out wrong...what if Indy's coach made a huge bet to throw this game? He not only cheated Peyton and the Colts out of a perfect season but he gave the shaft to the Steelers, Texans, Ravens and others who are fighting for the last spot or two, including the Phins.

It is one thing to take out your Quarterback.

when you take out 2 wr's...your top 2 RB's...your middle linebacker...your Two best players on defense (mathis, Freeney) and your two starting corners and then shuffle your safeties in and out....it is beyond "resting" and is in fact throwing a game.

Funny thing is: they did this after being 12-0 in 2005? or 2006? They rested their starters the last 3 games.

They got crushed in the divisional round.

Point being: The starters didn't play the second half this week. They will all sit next week, then they'll have a bye for the playoffs and it won't be until January 16th or 17th till their starters play a meaningful football game again.

That's 3 weeks away. They're really risking coming out rusty like they did that year

Throwing a game is harsh. Throwing a game is telling your QB to throw an INT. Your taking this to the extreme.

Manning got hit on his blindside which led to a fumble then a TD for the jets. To his blindside. Imagine if that hit was a really really hard one. At the wrong angle. Concussions happen on blindside hits to the QB.

I have no problem with what he did. After that hit, he's probably thinking, forget this, this isn't worth it. You sit your starters, lose a game boohoo. You start your players, lose your all world QB to a blindside hit for the rest of the playoffs. What's worse.?
