With the way defenses play, he's been just about as dominant as you're ever going to see a LT be again IMO. In fact all of the bad plays I can remember came in two games.

Atlanta this year, and one game last year I forget. Two bad days out of 32 (33 if you count playoffs) really is dominant IMO.

Im not going to dig up stats but I didnt miss a down of Dolphins football this year and there were some times he was beaten for a good part of the game, but I agree...with the 3-4 and complex defenses it will be hard to dominate, because against guys like Bellichek you cant just beat the guy in front of you.

    04: I wanted Wilfork.
    05: I wanted Ronnie Brown
    06: I cant remember TBH.
07: I wanted Quinn, I think we got the lesser of two evils.
08: I wanted either of the Longs.
09: I wanted Nicks or Kenny Britt. I thought Vontae, Cushing and Rey Rey would have gone in the top 15. I would have been thrilled to get Harvin.

I don't remember him being beaten for good parts of games. I remember last year he hurt his ankle and gave up like 90% of his sacks in one game.

Also someone dug up stats on pressures, QB hits and sacks allowed, and Jake gave up like..the second least in the league I think it was.

As for run blocking, it's hard to gauge considering how dependant you are on the players next to you making their block.

    07--Wanted Okoye.
    08-Anyone but Jake Long
    09-Mauluaga/Matthews/Conner Barwin

The Dolphins real problem is not the #1 picks that are average to below average, it has been the 2,3 and 4 picks that plain old busted out or have not contributed very much, that is a killer to any roster:

    06 Traded for C-Pepe
    07 John Beck
    08 Phillip Merling
    09 Pat White

There "should" be 4 starters on that list, instead we have little to no production from them.

Look at second, third and fourth picks:

    05-Roth, Crowder, Daniels
    06-Derek Hagan, Joe Toledo
    07- Lorenzo Booker, Paul Solia
    08-Henne, Langford, Parmalee

That should have been the core of a NFL team, but until the 08 class, it just wasn't.

As for 2010: I'd like...Ro McClain or the Alabama Fat Boy Terrence Cody.

yeah i remember we were watching dustin keller play DE,a CB and some others. some decent prospects in that game. I think Ryan is going to take the next step in his third year. Flacco will also and hopefully Henne goes along for the ride. It was one helluva of a QB class with only Brian Brohm failing so far

Kellen Davis, he is missing his calling as a Te in Chicago that dude is a JT clone at DE, he was anyway, now he is like the #4 Te.

Didn't care for Flacco, thought leaving Pitt after losing the Qb battle to Tyler Palko ( Wanny..) was kinda weak on his part, but I did not factor in Wanny's utter cluelessness at times.

Brohm was the only System Qb that year, and in Buffalo...who knows, he could wind up playing.

07- i wanted quinn, my second choice was ginn jr. so i was shocked, but still liked the player

    08- jake long
    09- i wanted hakeem nicks
    10- dez bryant

I remember those years the most, wasn't into the draft as much back then.

Edit: lol last night i must have been spacing...or i was too lazy to post more i dont know lol

04-cant remember who i wanted, i just remember wanny getting duped

05-i wanted to draft Ronnie Brown, liked Benson but I was worried about all the tread on his tires at that point even. A girl I was friends with in college went to highschool with Aaron Rodgers and she said he was a tool, so I wasn't a fan of him(in hindsight, he's playing great now...with that said, I don't think he would be doing as well if he had to of started right away)

06-i did not want jason allen, that is all i remember.

To be completely honest in 2005 I wanted Matt Leinart to declare and San Francisco to take him so the Dolphins could have drafted Alex Smith.

2004 - I wanted Rivers. If you recall, him and JP were supposed to be towards the middle/end of the first round. I wished he had a terrible offseason. Other than that, I didn't know who to like, it was my first year of even remotely following the draft. Who knew I would come to hate rivers because he talks too much. Good gamer though.
2005 - I secretly wanted Edwards because I'm a receivers whore. no I don't sleep with receivers but find the position so intoxicating!
2006 - Marcus McNeil. Kinda wanted Jay Cutler but didn't feel he would be around.
2007 - I admit, Brady Quinn. Knew about Ginn, read about Ginn, but damnit we needed a QB.
2008 - Didn't form a strong opinion. Wanted Matt Ryan after watching every game his senior season. But didn't exactly die when we did not pick him. After all, we had John beck. But for the 2nd round pick wanted Cason.
2009 - Actually did not "want" a particular player. Maybe Maulaga or Laurianitis if you pressed me. Liked either of the USC lb's

You and CK have always been my favorites as far as Draft experts. I'll listen to you before anyone else I have access to. However, I've always been curious. You were the one that got me all excited about our 2007 draft with the write-up on Ginn. Where do you think you missed it with Ginn?

It was either you or CK who about Samson Satele wrote "rare lower body explosion. Among inside line prospects, he holds the #1 vertical, which has always served as a consistent indicator of a guy who has the lower body explosion Houck would like to see. He has the thick lower body to anchor really well, and this is something that I think Houck would require in a Center prospect." How could Satele have such explosion and play so weak?

I was really excited about that draft. What a let down.

    Thanks.

I think probably the same place that Randy Mueller missed it! :)

I certainly saw a guy with explosion who could create match up problems on the outside and, if used creatively by an offensive minded coach like Cameron, could work out of the slot, out of the backfield and I even pointed to a number of plays where he ran the Wildcat. I also thought as a return man he'd help us with field position, etc.

As for Satele, that was definitely CK. ;)

2008 - Thought we'd take Chris Long given historically that was along the lines of a BP team.

I posted this regarding Jake Long:

2009 - I had us taking Sean Smith in round 1. So I was off, but ended up with a player we actually drafted. So make it what you will.

    Everyone happy now?

Big Jake Long and the looping kick slide, he sort of compensated for it the pros so you were right, I wonder how much is 2 pro bowl appearances were based on his #1 overall selection (really, Jake could do that for 10 more years if he stays healthy) and how much is his performance?

What troubles me though Conu is..Chris Williams? Really? Didn't the Bears sign an ancient O Pace to man left tackle because Williams was getting the Qb killed?

Well fair is fair, I really though Darren McFadden or Vern Gholston were our pick, McF because Ronnie B was hurt all the time (ah-hem) or Gholston because he blew by Jake Long in that OSU v MI game

who knew McF was made of paper mache' and Vern Gholston would do the largest draft flameout in the last 3 yrs?

I guess time makes jokers of us all mi compadre.

    Wanted / Drafted
'04; I honestly do not recall / Vernon Carey
'05; Aaron Rogers / Ronnie Brown
'06; Jay Cutler / Jason Allen
'07; Brady Quinn / Ted Ginn
'08; Chris or Jake Long / Jake Long
'09; Hakeem Nicks / Vontae Davis
    '10; Rolando McClain / TBD

NOTES: I know Cutler was off the board when we picked in '06 (Denver traded up to get him). But, daggummit...I really wanted us to get him. 'Course, we probably wouldn't have taken him anyway.

And, I'll admit that I thought Chris Long made more sense in '08. But, I'm awful glad the FO saw it differently.

Williams has had back issues, he missed his rookie season and hasn't been the same layer since. He was already a mash unit, but he was talented.

Don't forget my believing Merling would be our OLB right after the draft. That went well.

One of the reasons why they avoid a player, smart move on their part.

A guy I like this year is Jamar Chaney but he is coming off of an ACL.

Well, I tried to specialize in the later round guys, Donald Thomas is not exactly impersonating John Hannah so far.

I think last year's draft was the real curveball, virtually everyone had us taking Linebackers, and they went offense as much as the did defense in the draft.

And don't talk to me about Lawerance Sidbury, 09's Alex Carrington..
