Let me first say thank you for the great 2008 season Joey, but its time for you to go, you can no longer back up your mouth, hopefully we can some draft decent picks out of you.

Wont happen hes too valuable for this horrible defense. Also I think hes do for a nice paycheck next year if Im not mistaken.

I would trade him and Ronnie Brown... I would I know thats crazy but I would trade both of them.

He's too valuable? Outside of his 9 sacks or so, he produces little consistent pressure and is seems to be quite fortunate to get the sacks that he does. He's at best average on his best day against the run (usually worse) and is mediocre in the short flat covering.

Capped or uncapped, 2010 is the perfect opportunity to shed Joey, his attitudes, and the $7M he's due this season.

To me, if we lose joey we now have a serious pass rushing issue. Not that joey porter is great at it anymore, hes just better than not having him at all.

Well, per the article he would like to play closer to home. He's from Missouri but now lives in California, so it's hard to tell what he's thinking as far as attractive options.
Maybe we can get that 5th rounder back from KC.
As far as losing what he brings to the table, I think that JT will more than make up for that loss.

So I'm guessing you didn't read the article.
from the linked article:...."Last week, appearing on Romeo in the Morning on Hot 94.1 in Bakersfield, California, Porter's home town, the enigmatic linebacker told the show host that he didn't want to return to the Dolphins in 2010. He repeated the complaints he made to Sparano -- that he wasn't happy with his role, that he wasn't happy about being benched.".....
I would call that complaining to the media.

It's certainly possible. K.C. could use a guy like him with Vrabel gone in free agency. If we get a pick out of him I'll be very pleased. San Diego perhaps for Jamal Williams?

Get rid of Joey and bring back Taylor who in my opinion is a much better player then Porter right now and always has been.

Taylor is someone special to Miami. He played more than well enough to play another year. He was actually quite good at SOLB. He could play the WOLB position or the open end in the hybrid even at his age. Porter is a WOLB that's one-dimensional.

Either utilize Porter's greatest asset, or dump him to a team that will.

As just another cog, you'll get an average, to subpar performance, from a player who very likely will end up disconnected, dissatisfied, and possibly unruly before season's end.

If your gonna field Porter, you surround him with players that feed off his emotional energy. Chain him to a couple like minded beasts, toss in some chemistry, add a few rallying blurbs of support, and you might just turn mediocre, into a highly charged, self motivated force, for any opposition to have to deal with.

The Steelers knew exactly what he was, Cowher was no fool, who built upon his image, and supported his vocal lead at nearly every opportunity.

Ignorant of this fact, it didn't take long to see the demise of Dom Capers.
The year after that, Cameron nearly had a mutiny on his hands, until finally in 2008, Joey found his calling, excelled in performance, but arguably played a key role in helping lead and motivate the defense to a remarkable year of achievement.
This year in contrast, Joey was once again, cast to a more reserve role, if not simply a reserved outcast. Call it coincedence, but it didn't take long for Pasqualoni to receive his walking papers.

I could see Joey Porter being let go due to the money, 7 millie is like JT and maybe a Te, he still is productive though.

The two things that bother me about Porter are Ted Ginn hanging around with him on S Beach, and JT's offhand comment about not drinking anymore because it was too hard on his body, to me those are complete net negatives for Peezy sticking around in Miami.

I think it's far more likely he gets cut than traded. I just don't think he has very much trade value. And, I don't see KC giving up anything more than maybe a 6th or 7th rounder for him, assuming they're even interested.

I just hope he's gone one way or another. He talks waaayyyyy too much, and he can't back it up. And, now all this stuff to boot. He's just not the type of player I want representing the Dolphins (never have). Besides, he's a CC holdover, and I see this FO finally being able to replace him this off season, either in FA or the draft.

Good bye and good riddance as far as I am concerned.

    JMHO...

I wouldn't want Merriman either. Let's get some young, hungry blood in there. JP AND his "Significant Other" (possibly Ginn jr IMO) can be packaged together. The truth is ALL the other teams see just what we see and wouldn't pay much. Unless like another poster said. They feel they have the right kind of coaches to coach him up the right way. Something PP could not do.

I find it hard to believe that playing Cam Wake for WOLB pass downs would be that much of a downgrade in performance versus Porter.

Wake came in on very limited snaps this year. If the only thing Porter is good for is sacks, and Wake has been performing at a higher sack per snap average, then what good is Porter?

I mean if that's all he wants to be in for is obvious passing downs, and he is less productive getting to the QB than JT on the strong side, he's lost his purpose. Whether thats an issue with coaching and motivation or not is irrelevant in my mind.

Nice job Joey........you already had next to no trade value and now teams know you want out of Miami. I can't think of too many Dolphin players that I've ever had less respect for.

My wish is that the Dolphins find the worst team possible and take anything for him, a 2015 7th rounder would suffice. Let him spend the remainder of his NFL days wishing he kept his big mouth shut.

Porter can still play so he still has value.
He's pretty bad against the run but he can still rush the passer effectively. There are going to be fewer young FAs running around looking for those high dollar contracts unless the NFL and the players come up with a new CBA.
One thing that won't change though is the need for pass rush on your defense.
Because of that this may be a great year to trade Porter.
If someone waits to see if he's cut then you run the risk of getting in a bidding war and drastically over paying for him. Figure out fair trade value with the Dolphins and you probably come out in better shape.
Again Porter can still rush the passer and that's a commodity that always has value.
KC has a great need for a pass rusher. I can see us dealing with Pioli.
On the other hand, NE ALSO needs pass rushing help. We really need to try and work out a trade for Porter.

Thanks Joey...ahhhhhhh BYE!!!! the thing is I would love to get a pick out of him, but the clock is running. Miami isn't going to giving him the 1 million dollar roster bonus, so they are going to cut him by then....DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHEN THAT DATE IS??? Hopefully somebody wants/needs him bad enough where they are willing to trade him....I'd take anything for him right now...
