So my girlfriend has this dog. Relatively young, i think like a year and a half. Well she babies him and doesnt do anything discipline wise to the dog. no matter what he does. Well its a long haired ****zoo(no clue on spelling) and has been shedding like crazy. so I said no more dog on bed. she agreed. well, now it cries to get on bed. even when its satisfied with being and sleeping on his bed, he scratches at the bed and cries at 7-730 everyone single morning until we get up. now i understand every dog needs to go to the bathroom in the morning. but not that early, and he wouldnt do it before when he was sleeping in bed. me and my gf have been fighting about this for a few days and im fed up with it. i tried ear plugs but was still woken up this morning by him. and she refuses to do anything to him but simply "coco, its ok"...

and im like "no its not ok! SHUT THE **** UP!" gawd im so tired of this ****ing thing. i wouldnt ask her to get rid of it, but something has to happen..

    That part made me lol.

Honestly, it's gonna take a lot of work from your gf (not the answer you were looking for). I'm gonna assume she basically raised it, so the dog is used to her commands, if she has any.

If the dog cries and does dumb **** like that and your gf gives it attention, that's making it worse. Next time it bugs you at 7, ignore it. Once it realizes that whining won't get it attention, it'll stop.

Small dogs have smaller bladders. If it goes to the bathroom at like 10pm (or even midnight) it's not unreasonable that it has to go at like 7am. When my JRT was still a pup it would go to the bathroom at like 11pm-12am and then have to go again at like 4am.

That's just how it goes. Sometimes they can hold it longer, sometimes they can't.

You could try getting pads for the dog to go on if you don't want to talk it that early.

I would suggest do some reading up on crate training. Not sure how well it will work when they are a little older. May work just fine. But basically the crate is where they sleep and is basically their home. When I lived in England, we got a bullmastiff. I knew that we were heading back to the states in a year or so, so basically instead of a crate I bought one of those big travel crates. We pretty much treated that as his den, first week or so we basically would lock him for a few hours at time. After a week or two he would go in there on his own, and that is where he sleeps now, its his home. We don't allow or kids to mess with it, its like his personal sancutary. And if you do this type of training, do use it as a punishment, cause then they basically end up being afraid of it and won't go in it.

Here is a link about that type of Crate Training

purchased a decent size cage to keep her in at first
    she loves it now
it is her bed and she sleeps well there
she has free roam of my house at this point
    crate training works

You'd better do some convincing because before you know it, that dog will take over the house. They have to have boundaries.

As for the waking up part, you have three choices. You need to have a way for him to let himself out, train him to go on newspaper or something else you'll throw out later, or you're going to have to get up. That is something that you can't ignore. Think about it. Do you wait around to relieve yourself for when it's convenient for others? Most people don't and since dogs don't have an understanding of social mores, they need more leeway in that area. If you don't get up and you don't provide an alternative, he's going to go on the floor and you'll have only yourselves to blame.

On the other hand training him to go on something else or to go outside involves discipline and your gf is going to have to give in on that one.

    Wanting on the bed:
You have to just not let the dog in the bed anymore. Can't give in, not even once. Make the dog a bed area, and get a soft stuffed animal for the dog to cuddle with. If the dog is still a puppy, try putting an old style ticking alarm clock behind the stuffed animal. It will give the toy a "heartbeat" and may help the dog believe its another animal. Dogs are pack animals after all.

    Needing to go out early:
Dogs, like everything else have to go to the bathroom, because of what and when they eat and drink. Luckily, you're in control of when they do that, so feed them later and make sure they don't have access to water at night. Figure out when you feed them now and when they wake you up, and then move up feeding times accordingly.

I'm up pretty late, so I feed my dogs at 1:00 am. They sleep all the way till my wife and I get up, at 7:30.

If you go the kennel route, then feed them in the kennel, and give them 10 minutes to eat. If they don't finish, remove the food. After the time is up, take them outside immediately. Reward them with kibble and praise when they relieve themselves. By doing this, you're programming your dog when and where to go, and helping them love their kennel.
