http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...bYF?slug=ap-dolphins-taylor&prov=ap&type=lgns They’re looking for replacements right now,” Taylor said at an event for his foundation Friday. “If they don’t find who they want and if teams don’t find who they want, then that’s when your phone starts ringing.”
The master plan in my head all along has been to let Porter go, resign JT on the cheap and platoon him and Cam Wake at WOLB. Then we find a FA replacement at SOLB (reunite Adalius Thomas with Nolan) and Draft McClain at #12. Your 2010 LB corps look like this: WOLB: Wake/Taylor ILB: McClain ILB: Crowder SOLB: Thomas Thats my dream anyway. edit: I think Thomas gets cut in NE FYI
Wake/Taylor will be the starting OLB's in 2010 Porter traded, Anderson & Moses, will be backups won't miss a beat playing from the outside
im ready for jt to retire he isnt going to do enough to get you where you want to go i do like your scenario i would be real happy with that especially the wake to the weakside and the drafting of mcclain i thought from day one wake would be the backup weakside lb behind porter the dolphins then ruined the matt roth situation and forced wake to have to spell jt on passing situations at the strongside im yet to see wake play linebacker really but his chances are better at ws
the strongest against the run will always set the edge the talent is there our only legitimate concerns are @ ILB, NT & perhaps FS
Well I wouldn't necessarily sit one or the other on 3rd down but assuming it were a running situation I would play JT. He did a decent job against the run last season and at this point in their careers I'd rather have Wake in on passing situations.
I like Quentin Moses I thought he looked more comfortable and seemed faster last season. I think he is going to surprise people this season.
Every year when I draft in my fantasy league, I come across Hines Ward and say to myself, how long can this guy stay productive. He's too old, pass. And every year he lights it up. Same with JT. I was watching a few games from this season recently, and we was pretty awesome. Let the guy begin that decline before we write him off, please! He was wreaking havoc for us this year, even had a prot-typical JT-TD in that all important Jests game. I mean, what do you want from a guy? Yeah he gets older, but he's still friggin awesome! Im not wearin aqua colored shades either. I was thrilled when we got a 2nd and 6th for him out of Washington! But the guy can still ball. And no way we get ANYTHING for Porter. He'll simply be released and sign somewhere else.
Until they magically find a way to fill the defensive roster with 25 year old pro bowlers I see no reason to let him go just for the sake of it. It's disrespectful to a player who has done a lot for the franchise and is still a good player. JT still gets sacks, he still creates pressure, and he still scores touchdowns. As a matter of fact he had more picks than some of our defensive backs. His awareness is second to none out on the field. Give me that. Use JT in a platoon role and you will still get above average production out of him. The number of snaps he played last season is a testament to how tough he is but he's too old for that realistically.
Exactly, you're going to let a future hall of famer who bleeds aqua and orange walk because he MIGHT become unproductive? He even works cheap. It doesn't make sense. It would be foolish of them not to bring him back. What if their offseason upgrades don't work out as well as planned or take a while to come along. Veteran insurance never hurts.
Jason Taylor: Decision on future not set http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/miami-dolphins/story/1454161.html
He's gotta come back. Btw, I also like the idea of Adelius Thomas coming to Miami; no storms here to keep him late, just traffic on the Palmetto.
He should go back to his old playing weight and just remain a 3rd down guy. If he can still be effective in that role then he should have a spot on the Dolphins.
mike nolan is here now and the dolphins want to play a real 3-4 defense jason taylor will be replaced -
