I am thinking about getting my girlfriend one of these for valentines day. Sony pocket reader is 200$ and the Kindle is $259. Has anyone used both and have any suggestions which way i should go? I was leaning towards the Sony because of the price tag, but is the kindle worth 60$ dollars then the sony?
FWIW, I've known two people (friend at work and stepdad) that bought the Sony, only to return it within days for the Kindle. They said the screen on Kindle was clearer and sharper, plus so much easier to load books. My stepdad had trouble actually getting the books to load on the Sony. They are both very pleased with the Kindle.
Kindle is great. I have it and definitely worth the money in the long run. They way amazon is positioning it self is to offer the ebooks really cheap. They just released some info saying many publisher agree to the $2.99 price for their books. Also the book load quick when you purchase.
I'd go with the Kindle over the Sony, but I'd actually go with the iPad over the Kindle. There are a bunch of e-book apps in the App Store, including an official Kindle app. Just download that, buy e-books through the app, voila.
