    No issue with Rexy's comment.

As mentioned earlier this was all in jest, and actually stated in a way that implied his recognition of the sweep, unlike the perspective his previous comments had left, choked up, nearly in tears, at his presser following the
    2nd sweeping loss.
A good fit for the rivalry, and smacks of the late John Candy, a natural at bafoonery.

Actually, the "only one" of the final four, with nothing to show for it.

The other two won their respective conference titles, and Vikes at least their division crown. Jest's have indeed turned losing into an art form.

If you browsed the forums at Jets nation and the gang green durring their mid season slump you would have seen just about every Jets fan in the world telling Rex to shut his Freaking mouth. 90% of the fans at that time quickly got sick of all his talk. So, I fully expect the jets fans to be all over his *** next year when they once again get swept.

Wow, I can't believe that a humble guy like Rex Ryan would say something like that. He must have been hungry.

That's fine. From every thing I've heard, no one has anything bad to say about Sparano (other than his funky clock management). I have no problem with him running his mouth, honestly. When they got beat late in the season, he went on the podium and said "well, we got our *** beat and playoffs are out of reach"; I paraphrased but it was something along those lines. He might be a sore loser, not give credit to others and while I don't like that either, I'm ok with it. There's people in the world that are like that and they aren't going to change.

I hear ya. He wasn't giving credit because he was pissed. I'd be pissed if I got my *** kicked by the team I hate lol. He's not a gentleman, that's for sure, but I'd still play for him if he had that type of confidence in me.

Winning cures everything. When you're losing, you hate everything and everybody.

Losing a must win to reach the playoffs in your stadium to the QB you dumped, sending him and the Dolphins to the playoffs instead. Followed up the next season with getting swept... I can only imagine how much trash talk the Jests and their fans will do when they actually manage to do something good against Miami.

Jests fan in the gameday thread on ganggreen during the second game this season, one of em gets it.

we have no more excuses for missing the play-offs, than you have for getting swept by us.

And I found it interesting how RYan said the only thing he regretted was the "Channing Crowder" thing. Id have prefered/respected him more if he hadnt bothered to say anything. I like that he hates us, and talks smalk. He the ultimate heel. He talks and doesnt back it up. Love the rivalry with him as the Jets Freddie Blassie.

It's true. When you win, you don't really have many complaints. When you lose, everything sucks.

That's how it is for me, at least.

i'd rather play for a guy who can admit his own mistakes and give credit where credit is due. I don't mind the talking. I mind the talking then punking out afterwards. Some of the greatest **** talkers have talked but then were gracious in victory and defeat. Rex ryan just comes off as whiny. And fyi where was that confidence when he admitted their season was done.

Good question. I dunno but the next day, he said something like "well, I guess I was wrong about us not being out of the playoffs so we still have a shot. We're going to work hard and win the rest of our games" or something like that.

If he would just stick to this, all would be good.
Problem is, I honestly don't think his brain knows what his mouth is saying sometimes.

    A wise one once said;
"It is just as important to be gracious in victory as it is defeat".
Well guess what? He isn't gracious ever.
He will get it, eventually. After he loses all his fanbase and players respect as his actions reflect directly upon them
BTW: Hope your having a good day brother

    Classy till the end.

Right after the interview. Fans giving him the business.

He's perfect for that city. You know I hate the guy and everything, being that he is who he is and is the Jets coach. But you know what? I honestly don't care about this. I think he gets a kick out of it. He does it for fun. He totally embraces the rivalry. I actually think it's funny. Hey, if you wanna hurl insults at the guy in a setting like this, I don't have a problem with him responding.

    Great shirt BTW.

To be clear, I don't mind the trash talking. I think it's funny and good for the rivalry.

It's the refusal to give the other team props or respect that rubs me raw.

Case in point, him dissing the Wildcat after getting trucked postgame, only to have it become a large component of their offense later in the season.

I love how the article linked has the video of him saying, "we're going beat Miami twice" and has it labeled as owning the Dolphins. If he had swept us and said hey, we'll beat you guys twice again next year, maybe. Can't get beat twice, then say you'll win next time and think that's "owning". I guess if the Bills said they'll win the AFC East next year that's owning the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots!

I also kind of like how he's thrown fuel on the rivalry fire, makes it a lot more fun for fans on both sides and makes the games more interesting. He talks enough maybe NBC/ESPN will fight for our two games.

No, he's not real. He makes excuses and disrespects other teams and players...that's not being real, that's being a jerk. And yeah, he has confidence in his team, and that's great but how much does he motivate the opponent when he says the crap he says about them? It hurts him just as much as it helps him, if not more.

Probably one of the reasons they lost seven games in the regular season and four within the division. Your divisional opponents know you well, the last thing you need to do is throw extra fuel on the fire. I think the Bellichick approach of talking up the opponent is much smarter. It obviously works b/c Bellicheat never goes 2-4 in the division, even in a down year.

Given how close the Jets were playing the Colts in that game, this is a stretch.

it was 20-18 jets at the end of the third during the regular season.
20-17 colts in the playoffs. Its not a stretch at all.

It absolutely is. We have no idea what would have happened in that game. Manning could have gotten injured, turnovers could have occurred, pick-sixes could have been made, sacks could have been registered.

well now you are changing what you said. you said it was a stretch because the jets were playing close before the colts pulled their starters, which I also believe they had benched some before the pull in the 3rd quarter. I just pointed out that the playoff game was also close before the colts just blew out the jets. Given there is a pattern, its not at all a stretch to say the colts more then likely would have won thus knocking out the jets. In fact is probably a pretty good possibility.

I'm not changing what I said at all: I'm offering a counterpoint to your belief that the Colts would have beaten the Jets in week 16 if they hadn't pulled their starters in the 3rd quarter.

Will the Jets make the AFCCG next year? Probably not, it'll be tough for them to get back. Did they deserve to be there? Yes. Are they a better team than we are? If you are what your record says you are, yes.

    Accept it and move on.

you are changing what you said. and your counterpoint is moot. I could just as easily say that indy could have destroyed the jets o line and won the game with their second string. But its meaningless in this case as we know for sure the colts pulled their starters and we know for sure at the moment they did there was an immediate change in their success.
And I think the head to head says we beat the jets twice. Not sure how you can say they are the better team record wise but disavow the head to head matchup. I think thats something you should learn to accept. The jets got alot of breaks this year and miami proved to be the better team.

Manning hasn't missed a game his entire career, but yes, I'm sure he would have left with an injury and thrown all kinds of pick sixes. Your Jets love is getting out of control here. I understand that some here refuse to give the Jets credit [some of which they do actually deserve]... but a blind man can see that the Jets are simply not good enough to beat the Colts. They didn't even have as good a game against the Colts starters as Miami did.

Well, thinking back to our game against Indy, I'm feeling pretty safe in saying had Manning sat out most of the second half we would have beaten them rather handily.
Switch weeks with the Jets and let your imagination do the rest.

As to the OT Ryan has since admitted to putting his foot in his mouth.

..."It was stupid and inappropriate," Ryan said. "I wouldn't accept that type of behavior from one of the coaches or players and it's unacceptable from me. I apologize to the Jets organization, the National Football League and NFL fans everywhere."...

Let's establish a timeline. This might clarify some doubt to the impact of Peyton Manning being on the field.

    • Peyton Manning beat the Dolphins in the 4th quarter.
    • Peyton Manning beat the Pats in the 4th quarter.
    • The Jets beat the Colts with Peyton Manning on the sideline.
    • Peyton Manning beat the Jets in the 4th quarter.
No way the Jets beat the Colts while Manning is playing to the end. EVER.
