Almost every time he has something to say, its about us.

I met Rex Ryan on Wednesday, wearing my Dolphins jersey and hat, and he was the epitome of class. I'm sure that whoever he was flipping off did something to provoke him.

We all know it's his way of taking the pressure off his players. It's even kind of fun to banter his crap around, but in the final analysis, it's who wins and who doesn't....This year, it was us...next ?? Who knows...

By nature I hate the Jets. But for the love of the game, I like Rex. He's the type of coach that has your back. I think the old school-new scholl works well with him. I just wish he would go find another job.

This. I like Rex Ryan quite a bit, despite the coaching the Jets thing.

You probably won’t be surprised to find out that the coach said something that didn’t make Dolphins fans happy.
“I just want to tell everyone in Miami that we’re coming to beat you twice next year.”

Class act right there wheres the donuts:)

Ryan has since appologized for being a moron apparently...

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AsQE0bz40GaHQDXBfvI92NNDubYF?slug=ap-ryan-gesture&prov=ap&type=lgns

I've heard rumors that as a result of the Jets internal investigation, Ryan's punishment means that no donuts or cheeseburgers will be available at team meetings to discuss draft strategy over the next two weeks.

I really dont see the big deal about this. Honestly is flipping someone off that taboo these days? Its not like he was caught on camera unleashing a tirade of vulgarities(but even then I wouldnt care ). I am going to venture out and guess that someone made a crack at him, probably about his weight. A smile and middle finger would actually be quite appropriate in my opinion.

Lets not forget either, that this was at a MMA event....not Shrek on Ice....though he would definitely work as a green ogre.

Just when I thought it wasn't possible to hate Ryan any more than I already did...

He should have been prepared for that kind of reception with all the smack-talking he and his players have done about the Dolphins all season long.

Ive always hated the jets but i have a serious new found hate in this jets team now. I just cant stand sanchez or ryan. I know, theyve never done anything to me and they may be nice people but i just cant stand them and hope to god that we sweep them again next year.

I'm looking forward to the Coors' commercials that will feature his meltdown (you know it's coming; it's just a matter of time)
After making it to the AFC title game you know expectations will be sky high. If they start off slow it could happen by mid season next year, even.

I thought the NFL prided themselves in "professionalism". He's out there representing the league, not just himself. This shows what a classless person he is and why he's perfect for the Jests. I'm more surprised that he didn't start crying, actually.

He keeps this **** up and he's going to be lucky to walk out of Joe Robbie with an intact team next year. Hell, he's going to be lucky to walk out of there under his own power, because it'd be trivial for Paul Soliai to "misjudge an angle" and lay that brain dead fat *** out going full steam.

I, for one, admire the amount of passion he has for the game and for his team, not necessarily for the donuts though. Unfortunately, his passion just gets the best of him at times and things like this happen. Either way, he's reacting in much the same way we would as die-hard fans/supporters of our team.

I'm shocked at the levelheaded responses here. Awesome. +1 in the respect column for Fins fans.

What Ryan did was wrong, but as a Jets fan, I won't lie and I'll go ahead and say I friggin' loved.

Without these rivalries like this, football probably isn't as fun to watch. I mean, it would be the best sport still, but this whole other dimension makes it so much more fun. Seriously.

In many cases, there's a fine line between the two. In this case, flipping off the fans is passion. Saying they plan on beating us twice next year is arrogance.

    I don't agree with this 100%.
He is supposed to be a grown man, a NFL coach and leader. Then he steps up, like a child and gives the finger to fans?
In my book, that's a sad excuse for a grown man or woman.

Yup...it's passion alright. Can't wait till all the Pop Warner kids start flipping the bird to the parents of the opposing team's kids.

    Hey, Rex did it! :wink2:

You guys are not getting my post. I'm not condoning this behavior at all. I said I admire the passion he has for the game and his team. I also said that this has gotten the best of him at times -- meaning he's allowed it to overcome him on occasion where it has resulted in him showing poor judgment. And that's what I believe happened here.

You mean you don't get what I'm thinking? :wink2:

For that post, what I meant was that the action was a result of passion (albeit unbridled, careless passion) versus arrogance.

Debby, that's very true. His passion for the football needs to be controlled in the public if that's what he calls 'passion'. However, in his defense, he was heckled into this by some basically unruly fans and keep in mind it was at an MMA event in Miami, which probably adds to the fervor. There isn't an excuse for his actions. He, of all people, needs to control his emotions at times. He doesn't have a 'private' life any longer and he needs to remember that and control himself.

As to the "kicking the Dolphins butts twice next season" remark, that's just his stuff. Like or don't like that's what you'll get from him. That part doesn't bother me and it's rather 'smart' in some ways....as I said before, that's just his way of taking the pressure off his players....everybody loves to hate Rex now and that's the way he wants it...Notice no one said anything about Revis, Sanchez, Jones, etc...

I can understand the passion for his team etc. But, other than an occasional mess up, like most coaches do, he continually does and says the most childish things. It just gets old after a while.
He should be made accountable for his actions. Don't players get fined for less?
