"I make too much money, to be a role player." "Why rotate me and make me a role player when you are paying me this much money?" exactly Joey.
Seems to have a little bit of the Allen Iverson mindset, if he leaves Miami he'll get a chance to prove himself right or wrong I guess.
Same here, he wants to be a full time player. The organization doesn't feel he is good enough or consistent enough to be a full time player. Time to part way's.
Not surprising since it's Joey Porter he is sort of the king of disappointment in his off the field actions and the things he says.
i won't fault joey for wanting to play more. I will never fault a player for wanting to continue to keep playing , to a point, i.e. farve going to his main fans arch nemesis. If joey half assed it because he was unhappy or fought with the coaches causing trouble behind the scenes, then I will fault him.
Joey Porter requests trade from the Dolphins This just came up @ 5:10 pm today good info we should ship him to Denver for Marshall Joey Porter requests trade from the Dolphins Appearing on ESPN's Jim Rome Show Monday, Joey Porter said he wants the Dolphins to trade him this offseason. Feb. 1 - 5:09 pm et Source: Jeff Darlington on Twitter www.rotoworld.com
That's not exactly what he said. He didn't say he wanted to be traded, he said he wanted to be a full time player and that it doesn't make sense to pay him like a starter and not play him like one.
Just get him off the team. Maybe they have a place for his mouth in New York. Thanks for one good season out of three. Don't let the door hit you on the way out I guess.
This topic is extremely misleading. I dvr'ed the interview and just watched it and that's not what he said at all. I don't know what's with all the Porter bashing recently but now you're just trying to fuel the fire with misinformation.
Joey Porter did say that he was not happy in Miami, that he did not feel like he was a rotational player and that he felt that he's getting paid as a starter and should be a starter. He never asked for a trade nor did he really drag anyone though the mud. Give the man a break. He's a super bowl champion, 4 time pro bowler, 2nd in career sacks among active players, league sack leader a year ago and team sack leader this year. Since everyone on this site seems to acknowledge the weakness we have at OLB, why are we so quick to want this guy off our team with no replacement for him?
Why do people propose outlandish trades? Do you really, seriously think this is in any way plausible?
As far as I am concerned he is gone. I do think he has some gas in the tank considering he was injured this season, but I never liked him and don't think we NEED him so I say good bye and good luck elsewhere.
JP is quick, quick to run his mouth and talk a little trash, quick to rush the qb, quick to be in your face or at your side. I think the common perception of him is wrong and I think he has a lot of football left in him. Having said all that I think it'd be a shame if Mike Nolan and he weren't given the chance to work together. He's got the kind of attitude we want IMO and until someone better comes along we should keep him. Heck I'd be more upset if he was happy with a reduced role....
If Joey goes I'll miss him. Say what you will about the guy and his mouth, but you have to love the fact that he never quits. Even in 2007. He was one of the guys still fighting at the end of that mess. And maybe we'll be able to replace his talent, but replacing his locker room presence will be far more difficult.
I don't think "Requests Trade" should be part of the merged title as it has been pointed out that it was a false report.
I've been the biggest Joey supporter. But as soon as you don't want to be a dolphin, well, bye! EDIT: I guess he said no such thing.
my guess is joey porter is behaving this way because he knows he is going to be gone he has had his ego bruised by someone and knows the writing is on the wall bye bye JP
Now I'm not sure what he said. But if he said that he doesn't want to be a role player and states that his salary doesn't reflect that of a role player, then he should be traded or cut. I agree that he shouldn't be paid as a starter but yet only be a role player. The problem is that this is all he'll be or should be for us. He just simply isn't good enough not to be a role player now. So it seems best to just part ways.
Because THE active career sack leader still wants to play in Miami, in whatever role is best for the TEAM.
All the bashing Joey doesn't want to be a role player, because he doesn't deserve to be a role player. The guy dealt with 2 injuries last year and still led the team in sacks. If he stays healthy, he will easily get 10+ sacks. The second Porter gets cut, Ryan and Bellichek will be at this guys door. If he goes to either team we'll regret cutting him. If we're going to get rid of him at all, trade him out of the conference, at least out of the division.
