Is there a way one of you can post the actual interview?
I would love to hear it.

I did not see the interview but if he wants to go trade him to Raiders for a pick or two. They should have a good one. Or of course the Lions have good picks coming and were ranked 32 on D he could show his skillz off there.

Wish he was healthy and hungry to prove something here its up to him.

There is no need to trade him and no need to kick him off the team. The obvious solution is for him to take a pay cut so he can be paid as a role player.

problem with that is that he still thinks he has a 17.5 sack season in him and obviously wants to start. If only Rome would have asked him if he'd take a pay cut... Chris Everett 2!

Disagree, this is merely the foreplay before the Trade, think about what he said:

"Sparano said he was not going to let me stop the progress of the young guys"

JP has been around the block a couple of times, he knows that at a minimum his starting job is up for grabs at a maximum he knows he may be cut, so it is better to say "trade me" than it is to just be cut.

I will say, JP is not done, not by a fairly good distance, last season his get off on the snap was as good, if not better, on plays were Cam Wake lined up as the other DE on a 4 man passrushing Dline.

Imho he is worth at least a 4th rd pick, maybe a 3rd, he would take the paycut in order to remain as a starter.

TBH, he would make sense in Oakland, they need a WOLB who can produce from Day 1, don't mind taking salary and Al Davis is in win now mode.

I wish this situation wasn't working out like this because I think he does still have plenty of time as a good player in the NFL. Tough situation for everyone involved I'm sure. At least he kept quite and finished out the year, I can respect him for that. In his mind he has only a few years left, why waste them on the sideline?

If you can acquire a 4th that's something great to be sure. I would suggest you trade him for a veteran in fact like a Jamal Williams in San Diego. That would be an ideal move giving you one heck of a NT. Another guy could be Shaun Rogers in Cleveland. Perhaps Ted Ginn Jr.+Porter for Shaun Rogers. Then you would have a guy who in most years is quite stout against the run and brings a new type of pass rush threat to the line. Next to Starks and Langford that's probably the best pass rushing 3-4 in the entire league with little weakness against the run.

Because he is a loud mouth who cant back up his words anymore......Your not paying a guy on what he did or accomplished years ago with another team....He starts off fast in the beginning of the season, and totally fades at the end...he was awesome in 2008, but all of the other seasons, I find myself saying he wasn't worth it, with his mouth, off the field stuff...dont need it...

Cut him hopefully the Pats will pick him up, so Long can swallow him up....

BINGO!!!!!!! exactly bro, this cat knows he is getting cut, so why not try to make it look like he is all of sudden unhappy!! He was fine for those years, then he sucked this year, didnt come up in big games, gets suspended because of something he did, now he is upset with Miami?!?!? he is just trying to save face.....

Ahhhhh nobody is giving a 4th for this guy, if people on here think he has so much left in the tank, wouldn't even a 5th be worth that?

Not only that dude but, he has a roster bonus due, so as another team why would you trade for him, when you can just wait til he gets cut......is he that good where you "have to have him" I dont think so...

don't see it Pads....I don't view a declining LB as a must have for a trade...at 33...now is the time to cut him to....this year you'll see him slip even more...teams will wait for that roster bonus date, rather than pursue him via a trade...

    Dolphins got

    a #2 and #5 for JT

    And he was 34

Time to trade him, put it this way, who on the FA market, the UFA market had 9 sacks? Let alone would play for 5 million in 09 if they are a UFA?

    They don't exist..maybe JT...maybe Bunta Cain...that is about it.

    Or

Say a RFA is tendered at a #2 pick, they want 15 million in a signing bonus, and 5 million or more a season, if they traded for Porter..no signing bonus, 4.65 million this season..and at most would cost a #4 pick..

I could see that, the tender is risky though, I'm sure they are calling people, and getting calls right now, we'll see...traditionally teams usually wait until they are cut, rather than pursue a trade....and the non-cap argument could go both ways, devil's advocate to me says, "hey with no cap, I'll wait until he is cut, then overpay for him".......I will say though up here Pats fans are calling the radio station wanting this guy.....Wes Welker part 2?

Possibly, but a 1million dollar roster bonus and 3.85 million base salary would be tough to beat in signing him to a straight up FA contract.

I'd have a tough time seeing him with the Pats, especially after saying they cheated and pissing on (there is no delicate way to say that) the Patsies SB winning teams.

If he wants to go to the West Coast, I could easily see him winding up in Oakland or SF, both need a proven passrusher, and JP and Singletary would seem to be a great match, and the Raiders don't care about his antics.

Al davis is 91, it's not like he is too concerned with the future.

the dolphins want to have younger guys playing and developing and porter doesnt fit that mold
football is a business. I hate all the sentimental crap people try to throw into it

Disagree, his 30 sacks over the past 3 season will be right at the top of the leaders for that period of time and at his career average of 9.50 per season or so.

We got what we paid for with Peezy.

seriously you said it about as perfectly as anybody could put it bro.....hence my reality check in my avatar....like I know it hurts to say some people rot on your team, but your right they don't fit the mold, and your equally right when you say it is a business, that is first and foremost....you arent getting a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 for this guy because of the fact it is bad business why would you?? He has very little left in the tank, and is 33, from 17 sacks, down to 9 last year.....what is it gonna be this year 5?? he is declining, and I would give the Dolphins all the credit in the world, if they did recognize it and off'd him.....read the last line below!! Why do people think he is?? stop the homer crap...for the money it is bad business to take this on...

Coach Tony Sparano has reportedly also "soured" on the pass rusher, while Bill Parcells was never a fan. At age 33, Porter isn't worth his 2010 pay of $4.8 million.

Not really, he said these things, just somewhere else:

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...-porter-dolphins-trade-020110,0,1440737.story
    ----
    Mount Peezy finally erupted.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter, coming off a frustrating season that included a one-game benching, said Monday he isn't interested in returning as a role player in 2010.
Porter, named Sunday to the NFL's All-Decade team, stopped short of demanding a trade but did say it "would be the smart thing to do. Why would you keep a guy there that you want to make a role player? Why pay me all that money and make me a role player?"
    -----

I personally have no problem with him wanting to be a full time player, as a mastter of fact, I'm glad he does - I just don't like the fact he thinks he should be based on his paycheck. Breaking news Joey - you earn your playing time, you don't buy it.

'Footbal is a business'. The perfect catchphrase to attempt to justify an NFL team treating someone like crap. I love it. We obviously could never get to a super bowl with JT playing on the defense. :pity: How dare people try to insert human emotion into a sport? The nerve. I hate it when people think it's ok to treat others like crap because 'it's a business'. That's not how you operate in any aspect of life. Yes many will be sad when JT goes. The team is nothing without people like JT who bleed aqua and orange. You might as well go fire up some Madden simulations and watch those, that way you don't have to concern yourself with pesky human emotions getting in the way of things.

There is some trade value due to the limited free agency that is coming plus the fact the pass rushers in the last few years drafts haven't really done much of anything overall as a group. Loads of horrid horrid busts in there.

I have a feeling we're going to get a late fourth round pick for him if we eat his salary. At a price of what 3m then with no signing bonus left? His price is very reasonable for a starting OLB who produced 9 sacks. Some posters here hear a salary and assume it's high based on either what a write says or some ten year old notion of a great paycheck. 3m-5m a year was something ten years ago. Now it's chump change. The cap has doubled to over 125m and this year it's uncapped.

Parcells may have an opportunity here. A number of teams hate having to keep up with the ridiculous contracts of late. Porter at a few million a year with no bonuses remaining and two years could be a minor bargain.

Finally!! you get "it" Jaj, a Starting OLB, a WOLB in the NFL makes big money, JP won't because he took the lump sum upfront, he is on WQAM right now making his case, he didn't talk to Sparano the last 7 games of the season, but he had a sack in each game.

He got his underwear in a bunch because he got benched for the TB game.

Yep, this is an opportunity, imho people are going to be surprised what we land for Peezy.

    Thank you:yes:
I admit I get emotional and personal when it comes to JT. I have always loved him and Zach. There's been many others that I really cared about and hated the way they had to leave etc. (Shula & Dan for instance).
I also agree the guys that bleed aqua and orange are the guys we need. Maybe JT has gotten a bit slower, but atleast he goes out there and busts his butt for the team. Sometimes that's more than a lot of the younger players do.
When the Dolphins lose or someone gets dumped, it hurts because I really love this team and the guys on it.
And if JT goes, it will be a very sad day for me. I love cheering him on and hoping the best for him. I also hope Ronnie Brown stays, he's another "good" guy that the team needs.
I also want to make it clear that I love JT as a Miami Dolphin football player first, then all the other stuff I joke about. (He can't help it if he's gorgeous, now can he?) LOL
Thanks again muscle for saying what I would have loved to say, but couldn't find the right words.

The one guy that keeps popping up in my mind is Anquan Boldin. Could they pull off such a move maybe including Pat Turner in the trade? They've just lost Berry to retirement. They need a proven producer and they don't have unlimited funds to resign Dansby and Rolle even with Warner's retirement.

San Diego without Merriman is another team that could have significant interest. If Taylor at about the same age was worth a 2nd after obviously a better season, a less team captain like player who can still produce (not PFF wise but not all GMs probably believe in those measures of productivity) could be worth a fourth or a veteran player.

If they can pull off Anquan for Joey+Turner+maybe two sixths or a fourth I'll be beyond thriled.

I don't see them being too interested in Patrick Turner with the group they already have at WR. Don't know what would sound fair to AZ, but I doubt they'd want Turner
