Maybe. I am simply of the opinion that Jones ceiling is much higher. To me Taylor is never going to be a thumper inside like a Jeff Luc (and Luc has cement feet IMO, now those are two w am not comparing Luc and Taylor....I like the Atlanta competition better than the 180 pound OT's Luc played against. Luc is labeled SOFLA kid but that competition sucked chinese eggs.

He (Taylor) lets guys get into him and plays with his hands way too high and takes some false steps. I am not sold on his instincts and he looks mechanical. Inside guys to me are always the ones that start out with 5 stars and great reputations that flame out or never pan out on defense. Outside guys seem to reach their ceiling more whether as outside guys or guys that drop inside...and Jones to me is just starting to understand the game and his AA is extremely good. Taylor is never going to have the range to stand out as an outside guy and is a rangy guy as an inside guy...to me he is a marginal starter that is best as a 3rd and long LB...but Florida likes to stack safeties in those situations so I am not sure what he brings to the table early.

We all have opinions and the further down the food chain you go as far as NFL draft to college recruiting then the higher the chances of our being wrong.

Long-time broadcaster Steve Babik has turned himself in to Federal Authorities and is expected to be charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Babik and his lawyer Larry Turner were expected to arrive at the Federal Courthouse in Gainesville for a first appearance on the charges.

Babik is the Network Coordinator at the University of Florida and has been with the Gators for 20 years.

Babik is host of the TailGator Pre-game Show, a side-line reporter during live game broadcasts and host of the Urban Meyer Post-Game Show.

So if he goes to the State Pen .....he can still be on the sidelines for home games given UF's arrest rate...right? At least he fits in with the direction of the program....seriously he might not get a raise or might even get suspended for next years opening game coin toss.

I'm just amusing Myer was the one talking to the recruits that came to visit.

Then again he could be Gator bound but I doubt it he did cross them off his list of schools. Not really a big loss for the Gators unless they were pushing for him hard.

Louis coming in this weekend. Louis tried to commit to the Gators and Gators did not have a scholly for him. I think right now he is just a fall back plan.

No Gator WR will defect. Louis I believe is a fall back plan If we dont get McCartney or Green. Gators still pursuing K. Boone who committed to Texas Tech. Buckeye it looks like Louis may have alread visited and he still got no scholly offered. Also heard a rumor that Christian Jones is leaning towards Florida

Demar Dorsey is a guy that could bolt and he is rated very high. However its also the deepest position the Gators have (S). I dont see anyone else leaving unless grades are an issue.

Florida picked up two star QB recruit Tyler Murphey. He is very athletic but needs alot of work. He will be a project.

Michael McFarland was given the choice to either come in now or Grayshirt and he decided to grayshirt. He will Enroll in school next January and this opens up another scholly this year.

I read that in Gatorsports. I had never heard of grayshirt before. Is this something new? How EXACTLY does it work?

    I found this:

    What the Different Colors Mean:
I get a lot of questions regarding the meaning of different colored “shirts”, as in red shirt, green shirt, and gray shirt. These terms apply to recruiting and player development strategy and have become a common part of the vernacular as recruiting gets more and more publicity.

Grayshirt is another new term and is applied to the prospect that signs a letter of intent in February, but doesn't report in the fall with his teammates. He delays entry to college until midyear, i.e. January. That NCAA five-year clock doesn't start ticking until the player enrolls as a full time student, so gray-shirting is really a delayed version of red-shirting. For Example, Texas Tech, signed 34 players in February 2006, but NCAA rules prevent them from enrolling more than 25 to start the fall. Some of those nine other players gray-shirted during the 2006 fall season. They cannot enroll in college as full time students, can’t receive their scholarship, nor practice. It is like getting an extra year of practice, because most of these players don’t see the game field until two years later and they have the advantage of going through an extra spring practice.

Red shirt, the most well known "shirt" color has been around for a long time. Red means “stop” as in “stop from playing”. The NCAA allows a player five years to complete four seasons of eligibility. That fifth year, usually the freshman year, is when the player practices but doesn't play in any games. That is called the Red shirt year. Players still receive their scholarship, still practice, still do everything the other players do—they just don’t play in the games.

The purpose is to preserve a year’s eligibility when the player probably wouldn't see much playing time. Many freshmen completing two-a-days at the beginning of a season are in limbo as to their status. Obviously most want to play (probably were promised that in recruiting), but have to be able to answer the question on whether they would play more four years from now.

There is also the provision for a “medical red shirt” in that if a player is injured early in the season and won't get back on the field soon, he is red-shirted for medical reasons, thus preserving that year of eligibility.

Green shirt is a relatively new term and is applied to that high school senior that forgoes his spring semester in high school to enroll in college in January. Green means “go” as in “go early”. More and more you see high school seniors pass up their final semester to get to campus early. If a player (or the college staff), thinks he may be able to play right away as a freshman, it provides him with the opportunity to go through spring practice, learn the system, and get acclimated to being on campus. Obviously that takes some prior planning on the part of the player and his parents to insure he can graduate from high school early.

The bottom line for a prospect is to know what the options are, because it clearly affects which schools will be interested in recruiting a player. Those schools that are "mixed out" on scholarships and are going to be forced to sign a small class are most interested in players who are willing to gray shirt. Those needing squad numbers will be more interested in players who can go green, because they can count you against their current scholarship limits.

Rafeal helped out with his post. Its been around for awhile. Grayshirting is not new. McFarland is 6-6 and 230. He will spend this time gaining muscle which is what he would be doing at Florida

McFarland will not Grayshirt. Staff asked him not too anymore. He will be redshirted as he is too small to play TE at this time.
Demar Dorsey played around and had his scholly pulled.

Redshirt is a simple term for someone who will sit out a year (Because of injury or to get better). You may only redshirt One year, But the NCAA may grant certian player a Medical Redshirt (If player played less than like 20% of season and injury ended season). Hope this helped you bro

Travon Van and Coxson have sent in their LOI .All that is remaining is to get Chaz Green's
but all indications are that he will top off the class.

Anyone else would be a late surprise.

This is unbelievable! I am sure he signed a hefty contract, shook hands, met with recruits, their families, current players, current coaches...and told them all he was going to be the Gator DC for a while. Where the h@ll has "keeping your word" gone in this country??? He just HAD to take that job now, after accepting our DC position? And what about that j@ck@ss Chan Gailey...a FORMER Gator...hiring him away? Call me old-fashioned, but when you shake a man's hand, look him in the eye, AND sign a contract, at least fullfill the contract!!! If he had success at UF, he would certainly be given oppotunities in the future...in the college or NFL ranks. Just look at 2010 nfl draft for Charlie Strong! Ultimately, UF is far better off without this guy, for obvious reasons. However, I am just amazed at the lack of integrity in the coaching ranks! I certainly hope Karma kicks in on this guy in the NFL! He will deserve it!!!
