I heard about the first rumor, and it was false. The 2nd rumor is not true, the guy who played Desmond was accused of sexual harassment by someone who worked on the crew. The last, I doubt is true. She was making movies...
If you need a refresher he is a Lost recap in 8 minutes http://www.gq.com/blogs/the-q/2010/...since-who-has-98-hours-to-rewatch-it-all.html
Yes, the 2nd Locke is the guy at the beginning of the episode with Jacob on the island. He needed a loophole to get back and kill Jacob and Locke killing himself was the loophole. I am sure more will be explained once the season starts, but that is who Locke was/is.
I'm not sure if that was the loophole needed. I think the loophole was Ben killing Jacob. My thought is that the Man In Black (Jacob's nemesis) told Richard to tell John that he needed to die because John was to become the leader of the others. Once John died and was brought back to the Island everyone thought he was resurrected, including Ben. Ben killed John so he could A). Get Jack and co. to come back to the island and B). To reclaim leadership of the others. What Ben didn't know is John never resurrected. The Man In Black assumed Locke's identity as he had done with others (Christian, Alex, Eko's brother Yemi, etc...) and therefore was not the true leader of the others. Ben was the true leader without ever knowing it. So Locke used his authority (and the smoke monster, who I think is connected to the MIB) to convince the true others leader to kill Jacob. This is just my theory but I can't imagine any other reason why it had to be Ben that killed Jacob. The only real defining element that separates Ben from any other person is his leadership of the others. Why go through all the effort in getting Ben to kill Jacob if the MIB could of gotten anyone to do the deed?As Alpert says, leadership requirements are stiff and require someone special. Just my take... TWO MORE WEEKS!
Lost had an early showing at Hawaii and showed the first hour of two. Just watched it over at DarkUFO in ****ty quality. It's a really cool first hour, can't wait till tomorrow. I'll say no more.
Can't wait! I got class from 4-7, so that should help pass 3/4 painfully annoying hours of anticipation.
We have waited with so much anticipation. All that will change as we will be 'LOST' without the show next year. Now I'm stuck in the middle of anticipation and sorrow because I know it is ending.
Strong first hour. Weaker second hour (minus the awesomeness that is the Man.In.Black wearing Locke's body). I hate the hippy guy with glasses. The Japanese guy would of been enough. That scene in the airport with Jack and Locke was really good too.
I agree, first hour was amazing, second was a little weaker. But i dont like the new others, but do think Jacob is Sayid and the other guy is Locke and i love the whole them off the island storyline! seems interesting!
I hated how Sawyer's hair was longer then the original plane crash, and Charlie was shorter then it was before. And how does Shannon all of a sudden not on the plane and Desmond is?
so, are jacob and man in black fallen angels? or egyptian gods? richard-- in chains? i think this certainly means richard was on the black rock as a prisoner when it arrived. there were other people chained up (skeletons) when they went to get the dynamite. so something caused jacob to 'save' richard from the ship and make him special. maybe richard was the only 'good' person on the ship?
I took it to mean that it was good to see Richard now that 'he' (psuedo Locke, Man in Black) was not in chains... since he is the smoke monster and you would always hear chains when he was around...now that he is in Locke's body he doesn't have the chains anymore. that's just what I though.
Yes. It's a difficult task to have these actors recreate their 6 year ago looks. There has to be on island continuity. As far as characters go, the island is at the bottom of the ocean because Jack/Juliet detonated a nuke and destroyed the island. Which means things have changed as we know them. Shannon isn't on the plane because a). The actress was unavailable at the time and b). because there's no reason for her to be. The plan wasn't going to crash because the island is at the bottom of the ocean and because the Swan hatch never existed (the reason the plane crashed was because Desmond didn't push the button in the original 2004 timeline). Desmond is on the plane because he never crashed his boat on the island. For whatever reason, he ended up in Australia when the losties did. I'm sure we'll find out more about him later. But does that mean Penny never existed? If Jack/Juliet blew up the island, Charles Widmore (father of Penny) is dead I would imagine. That is kinda bizarre and leads me to another issue... Jack's red dot on his neck. How did it get there? Jack seemed very perplexed by it. In earlier seasons we've seen glimpses of later portions of the show very early. Last year, we saw Daniel wearing Dharma clothes hanging out in the Orchid station with Pierre Chang. It wasn't until right before the finale did we see that scene again in context. So perhaps seeing flight 815 again means that scene isn't really happening until the events in 2007 are resolved and we just don't know yet how 2007 will end. This season could be a before and after type of story telling, just happening at the same time for the sake of the viewers... Either way, the events of the new 2004 timeline have changed. Shannon isn't on the plane because it's no longer her destiny to crash on the island. Desmond is on the plane because it's no longer his destiny to crash his boat on the island because the island is at the bottom of the ocean. Maybe Widmore is dead in the new 2004 timeline and the reason Jack and Desmond don't recognize each other (like the did in season 2) is because Desmond never enters a sailing contest to prove himself to Widmore and Penny and thus isn't in L.A. running up stadium steps and meeting Jack. The new 2004 is just that, new. Yes we know the characters, but we don't know how much things have changed and where they have been or will end up. I hope the show stays as unpredictable until the end. Truly nothing else like it on TV past, present, and I doubt we will ever see anything like in the future.
cool ideas, but I'm not sure Desmond was really on that plane. Where did he go? and why did no one else see him... Also, I didn't see Walt, Walts dad (forget his name), Ana Lucia, Libby, Claire (showed up at the airport later, but still), on that plane. EDIT: I guess they didn't show the tail section, but it will be interesting to see the explantions for the exclusions
I agree, Richard must of have been a slave in transport on the Black Rock. As or why he was made special, we'll just have to wait and see. EDIT: Ultra makes a good point too... Obviously the M.I.B. was trapped in Jacob's cabin, so maybe he was referring to Richard being the reason he was trapped? Interesting. Good theory. I don't know about Egyptian gods, but they're relating to Egypt in someway I think. Obviously Jacob hangs out in an Egyptian statue (Twareet, although I'm spelling it wrong) who had a relationship with another Egyptian god that represents Smokie (I forgot the name). Plus we've seen Anubis summoning the smoke monster in a hieroglyphic during Ben's episode "Dead is Dead". There's some egyptian mythology relating to these two at the very least. Whether they gods themselves is anyone's guess.
Destiny has changed. Walt and Michael not being on the plan was because (according to Darlton) Walt is too old now and with the new reset, he doesn't need to be anyway. As for Desmond, that too is a good point. These writers wouldn't have included Jack asking about Desmond's whereabouts for no reason. I've never read the Dark Tower series, but Darlton have said the book is a big inspiration to them. I do know that in the books, when the timeline resets the characters start to be drive mad because they're experience extreme deja vu. Maybe Jack was experiencing that (and the other characters will too at some point) and somehow the two timelines will collide?
I don't think Jacob is Sayid reborn after mulling it over. Man In Black and Locke are two separate bodies (as we know now). Sayid, when he "awoke" was himself. I think no matter how this series ends there will always be questions. And of course rumors of movies being made. I can see Jacob rewarding the survivors of 815 by resetting them on the flight and seeing it land in LAX in the finale. But first they have to save the world. Juliet was pretty important to the story line. I wonder when Alpert went off the island to recruit her... did they know she would be needed to detonate the bomb?
Is it really a reward? Kate's going to prison. Charlie is a heroin addict. Jack's mind is all over the place. Lock is paralyzed, etc.
the more I think about it...the less I like it too. I hope it ends up being a 'what if' scenario. It does seem that the 'good' people had it okay though. Hurley said he was lucky, Bernard and Rose were happy, Sayid seemed happy.
perhaps reward is not the proper term. I am wondering and perhaps afraid that it's turning to a heaven vs hell thing though. Man in Black really wants to get home. Is home down there for him?
Last night on Jimmy Kimmel, Kimmel asked them the same thing and they told him that Sayid is "something" and to let the story play out to get the answer.
i loved that scene because i think that means Charlie will die soon again... On the island he was suppose to die when he was hung but Jack saved him, he was suppose to die then but Jack saved him, so he died a little later...I think Charlies overall fate is no matter what, hes going to die
Has anyone ever read paradise lost? I just read a theory that parallels PL version of the Devil as our M.I.B. who was trying to reclaim his place in heaven (aka home). I've never read it so I really have no idea. Maybe the island is the original garden of Eden after all. Anyone know anything about Paradise Lost?
